We used some remaining pieces of wood to start barricading the entrance for the meeting room while regrouping with the thirty or so people still in the meeting room. As we began to organize the few new troops we had, bringing our numbers up to 40 people, compared to the at least 80 troops the hunters had the last time we saw them due to the explosives. While this was happening, we could hear supports collapsing, and constant fire, as the fires continued to spread within, and around the building Suddenly, we heard movement outside the room, and we backed up and prepared our weapons. The barriers were soon smashed open.
About 10 of the hunters rushed in and opened fire. We ducked behind some of the tables, and chairs we had stacked up and waited for them to run out of power before we returned fire, successfully killing 6 of them, and forcing the rest into a retreat. With them gone, we started attempting to replace our barricades and waited for a second attack that could come at any moment, but for the next few hours, nothing happened. I considered sending out scouts to see what they're doing but eventually decided against it, as I had no idea what the hunters outside were planning.
3rd Person POV:
While this was happening, the hunters were coming up with this second assault. Although they still had the numbers advantage over the survivors, if they could continue to hold they're position, they might be able to hold them off and delay their forward push out of the outer rim, which had already been pushed back several months by the federation slowly becoming more aware of their plots, and plans. they needed to destroy the remaining survivors now, and send reinforcements to other parts of the galaxy. And they had a plan.
Inside the hall, the survivors had barricaded almost all of the entrances, so all they had to do was bring them out of the positions. Although the fires around most of the building had mostly gone out by this point, they could be easily restarted with the number of explosives the hunters had at their disposal. The hunters began to move into position, some climbing to heats left of the room, as there was a skylight there and prepared their explosives.
Setting their plan into motion, explosives were suddenly thrown through every available opening, and soon the entire room, and the meeting room was set ablaze, inside the hall, the survivors began to [panic and flee the barricades and their positions. Jinola began trying to calm them, but more hunters start jumping in, and opening fire on them. She called a retreat into the meeting room and got the few that weren't panicking to start shooting back, managing to kill at least 10 of them. once we managed to get back into the room, they began planning their counterattack, with only a few weapons at their disposal, even comparing to the number of troops they had.
They armed what few people they could, and started to line up by the holes in the surrounding walls, and firing out and the surrounding hunters, and took out most of them. Meanwhile, Zakarune finally broke out of his trance, in time to see the battle begin to pick up. Zita and nake were trying to hold the doors closed when they were suddenly blown open. Quickly, most of them were able to take cover behind the tables and chairs in the room, and reload the weapons that they had in preparation. The fires outside had begun to enter the room, as the hunters began to make their way towards them.
Checking the group, there were at least 20 in the room. Now ready, the survivors jumped from their hiding spots, and attacked them, taking out 14 of them, while sending the rest into retreat. Zita, Nake, Jinola, and zangar lead the charge out the door, and although many of the troops were killed, they had managed to get the remaining hunters down so low, that they were forced to leave the area altogether. With the survivors numbers brought now down to 10, and the hunters to 15. Leaving the others behind, Jinola led the remaining soldiers, counted at 8 to find the other hunters, gathering explosives along the way.
As they made their way back out into the ruined town, they saw the ship from earlier come to land. They waited, until they saw it lowere its shield to allow the hunters back on, they started throwing the explosives onto the ship, successfully destroying many of the hunters inside, before being able to take out the few trying to flee back outside with their remaining weapons. They had finally won.
