I open up the diner door to burg-oh wow to be greeted with the delicious smell of burgers and fries. Looking to my left, I see Lyra in the back booth. When she sees me coming, she waves at me and tells me to sit down.
"Hey babes how was work?" She asks me while observing the menu.
"It was fine, Inventory day boring. I have so much to tell you." I tell her in excitement.
"Tell me everything." She slides the menu to the side and gives me her full attention.
"Well I just got back from seeing the St. Helena lights with Myers. Secondly, I bumped into Myers in the hallway and he walked me to class. When we arrived to my class, he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes." I squealed out to her.
"Yayy you finally have a boyfriend now me and Jack don't have to feel weird when we show our love around you." She said muttering the last part.
I give her a mean glare. "Sorry, it's true, continue." She tells me ushering me to continue my story.
"Anyways I went to work today and I forgot that Alexander was coming by to get the money that I owed him." She looked at me all confused-on understanding what I meant by him coming to get the money I owed him. "The food that I got for Grandpa and Irene's date he paid for because I forgot my wallet." She gave me a nod and told me to continue.
"So, he's at the store looking all manly and such then he wants to take me out to ice cream and I'm like no because my break doesn't end for like another 20 minutes and plus, I have a boyfriend. He doesn't take no for an answer, then he uses his sweet luck charm on Ida and she makes me go with him."
"Don't act like you didn't want to go." She said giving me a smirk.
"I... I didn't want to go didn't you hear the part about me objecting. Anyways we hopped in his car, which by the way was very expensive for an intern. We went to the ice cream shop and talked. Oh my god and guess what he knew my last name and I didn't know how he knew. He looked me up Lyra." Her mouth hangs over the table.
"Shut up!" He definitely likes you because he would have never looked you up. Quinneth you have two guys after you." I roll my eyes at her and shoo her comment off.
"Finishing up the story he dropped me off at work and guess who was waiting there for me."
"Who?"
"Myers. When he saw me with Alexander, he got all jealous and they stood their sizing each other up. Alexander then gave me this number and left. Myers was all like, "are you going to call him." And I was all like, "you have nothing to worry about."
"Does he have anything to worry about?" She asks me sipping on my cola.
"No, he doesn't I'm loyal as you know. I would never cheat on Myers." I tell her looking at my menu trying to figure out what I was going to eat.
Our waiter comes over and asks us what we want to eat. Lyra orders cheese explosion fries and a double cheese burger. I order chili cheese fries and a sprite. The waiter takes down our order, takes the menu and heads towards the back to put our order in.
"So how was the vet clinic?" I ask her.
"The worst. I love animals, but sometimes their owners can be too much."
"Tell me more."
"Ok so like Ms. Chesterfield brought in her beagle today and she wanted us to give him a cleanup. SO, I took him to the back and did what she wanted I brought him back to her and she was all like, "I can still see dirt behind his ears." I then told her that's just spots or freckles behind this ear. Then she starts to go all crazy on me I swear Harlequinn if I didn't need these hours for vet school, I would have gone off on her."
I laughed at her story. Leaning over the table I grabbed her hands and held them in mine. "Lyra you make my day with your stories." I tell her with a smile on my face.
"I'm glad my misfortunes are your benefit." She kisses my hands and throw them back to me.
We talked for a few more minutes then we finally got our food. Me and Lyra immediately started to dig in.
"Jesus, they make the best burgers in town." Lyra said taking another bite from her burger.
"Yes, they do." I take a bite of my chili fries and close my eyes to savor up the flavor. My favorite thing on the menu here is their chili fries, and onion rings.
We spend the rest of our time eating and talking. Once we were done me and Lyra got our doggie bags and parted ways. I headed over to my car and put my food in the passenger seat. I look up to see a woman standing across the street staring over at me. Looking behind me, I looked to see if she was staring at someone else, but indeed it was me. She had big black curly hair and was wearing an all fitted black suit. Where is this woman from the matrix? We stare at each other for a few more minutes until she flees for the woods. That was weird, I start my car up and headed on home.
Alexanders P.O.V.-
"Alexander what are you doing?" My best friend Christian asks me while plopping on the couch beside me.
"Work for my father." I tell him filling in the last of the numbers.
"Wow I thought the intern thing was just a rue you're actually doing the work."
"Yes, I actually do the work. Shut up and watch TV" I tell him throwing an extra pen I had at his face. People have this idea since I'm the Alphas son there's no possible way I actually do work. That I just sit at the company for hours playing trash basketball while daddy does the heavy lifting.
"I don't know why you didn't just pick up a job here instead of working in the human world." He tells me as he watches the sports game on tv.
"My father wanted me to get a worldly experience. Understand how the humans' work." It's nice to leave the confines of the pack sometimes, to see how other work in their day to day life, it fascinates me.
"The only human you want to see 'work' is your little mate." He looks at me wiggling his eyebrows together.
"I'm not going to talk about this." I lean back further into the couch and resume my work. It was nice hanging with Quinn today, I saw how reluctant she was to go with me today. Once I got all the info I realized it was because she had a boyfriend, not necessarily me. The guy looked like a douche anyway.
"Are we talking about Quinnie bear?" My other best friend Aren says in a baby tone of voice.
"No." I said giving Christian the eye.
"Yes, we are Aren come sit down." Christian says petting the spot next to him. She strolls on over and sits down.
"God, I need new friends." I said rolling my eyes at them.
"Hurry up with your work we're on patrol duty tonight." Aren tells me and Christian while popping gum in her mouth.
"Seriously! We were just on duty two nights ago. What gives?" Christian said.
"I don't know, Gamma's order." Aren said shrugging.
"Well he is your father Aren can't you talk to him?" I ask her. I sit my work down on the coffee table.
"Uh no you know how my father is. Plus, there's been reports of suspension around the territory line." She blows out a bubble.
"What kind of suspensions?" Christian asked turning to face her.
"Just like unfamiliar werewolf smells and paw prints."
"What does he think it is, or who?"
Aren leans up off the couch and starts to look around the room to see if anyone may be paying attention to us. We're currently in the pack house which is the main house. All the werewolves come here for business and to lounge. Right now, there's a couple of werewolves at the computers and in the kitchen. Me and Christian leaned forward to her.
"He thinks that maybe it's Sasha." She says in a hush voice. Me and Christian eyes grow wide and we look at each other in shock.
"I thought she was dead." I say.
"No, the scouts said that they heard reports from Insofar that she survived the transition."
"Oh my god. Well what is she after then?" Christian asked.
"Nobody knows." Aren said.
We hear feet coming close behind us. Instantly we resumed back to what we were doing before. Aren popped her bubbles, Christian watched the game and I did my intern work.
"What were you guys talking about?" My cousin Greta asked leaning over the couch.
"Christian's obsession with me." Aren said laughing. He grabs Aren into a head lock and nuzzles her head with his fist.
"You wish Deshka." Christian tells her.
She elbowed him in the stomach. Once he lets go of her she put him in the choke hold. "What did I say about calling me that." She tells him.
Her full name is Deshka Aren Parbat. She hates her first name Deshka so she just goes by her middle name Aren. I roll eyes at them and focus my attention on Greta.
"So, what are you doing?" She asks me.
"Work for my dad." I tell her showing her all the paper work.
"Mhm I don't miss being an intern. Worst days of my life I still wake up with nightmares." She said laughing.
"It's not so bad, besides the paper work."
"Don't let me hold you back then. See you later." She gives me a kiss on my temple and walks off.
Quinneths P.O.V.-
"Hey I'm home." I say loudly.
"Hey how was your day?" I follow his voice to the living room. He sits at the couch with his reading glasses on reading a book.
"It was decent. What are you reading?" I ask him. He closes the book to show me the cover. The books called 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell.
"Guess what?"
"What Quinn?" He said flipping the page on his book.
"I missed you today." I tell him leaning over to give him a hug.
"I missed you too. Oh, when I went to see Irene, she gave me two applications for you and Lyraina." He pointed over to the nightstand next to him at the applications.
"Yay she came through. Thank you!" I tell him. I get off the couch and grab the applications.
"You're welcome and don't forget to thank her." He tells me looking up from his book.
"I will." I give him a smile and look over the pages.
"She said the applications are due in two days so make sure you and Lyraina get it done." I give him a nod and assure him that we will.
"I have some homework to do. I'll see you in the morning." I kiss the top of his head and head towards the stairs.
"Don't stay up too long." He tells me.
"You either." I resume to go upstairs and start on my school work.
The Princessess P.O.V.-
Earlier in the night at the diner...
I stare at her as she walks to her car. So naïve and innocent it's disgusting. She unlocks her car door and starts up her car. Looking to her right she sees me; she looks around in confusion thinking at I'm looking at someone else. She soon figures out that I'm not looking at anyone else, it's her. I look into her eyes; she's trying to figure me out. She is as beautiful as Myers describes her to be, too bad the beauty won't last.
She pulls out of the parking lot and heads down the road into the night. I turn around and head back into the woods to Insofar.
