"Students don't forget tickets for the football game go on sale today. If you have questions go see Coach Rabbit in room 105." The principal says over the speaker, I cross through people as I went to my locker. Opening it up, I put my bag in while pulling out my economics and history book. The wind from the revolving doors blows my hoodie off, quickly I put it back on my head.
Today I'm really not trying to talk to anyone, although that will be hard since Lyra can talk up a storm. Speaking of Lyra, I got dozens of texts from her yesterday. Asking me where I went and did she do something wrong. I really was trying to talk, but Sasha's hold on me was too strong. Also, what happened yesterday with Alexander and my grandpa is buried deep in my thoughts.
When those light bulbs shattered, it scared the living shit out of me. I saw fear and confusion written all over my grandpa's face, he started to back up from me, scared of what I would do. To see him so afraid of me, made me sick to my stomach. Adding on to the scary factor was Alexander, the fact that he thought I would murder those guys baked up this anger inside my stomach that just wanted to explode. Spreading my guts and blood all over the place.
I know that he would be mad at me for doing this, but I need to talk to Sasha. She seems to know a lot about Zastiniks and things, maybe she could help me control it. I don't usually get angry, but it will most likely happen again and I would like to be able to control it. I would hate to think what else I could've busted at the house, I could've put my grandpa in danger. If I hurt him, I don't know how I would live with myself.
Coming from the cafeteria doors, I see Lyra coming over. Her dark red hair is neatly tucked behind her ears with shiny gold Bobbie pins. Her green shirt is tucked in some green checkered pants paired with black flats. A look of determination and fierceness radiated off of her, she was determined to see what was wrong with me. I wish I could tell her everything, but how would she handle it. How would I handle it?
"So, you going to tell me why you ignored me and walked out yesterday." She crossed her arms as all her weight shifted to her hip.
"Look- I didn't mean to ignore you. I was just. . .sick you know it's allergy season I felt all loopy and tired." Her eyes scan over my every facial movement, trying to see if I'm telling the truth.
"I guess I believe you. Next time just tell me." She brings her soft hand up to my face pinching my cheek.
"Ow! That hurt." I wince.
"Next time don't ignore me." She slams my locker shut making me jump in fright. I follow her down the hall as we walk to class.
"What happened in econ yesterday." We turn the corner of the hall; more kids surround the lockers.
"Uh. . .we answered chapter questions and that's it. I actually listened to Mr. Banhammer and did the work." Lyra walks down the hall as I go to the end for History.
Entering into the classroom, I follow behind a student as we walk to our desk. Before I'm able to get there Mr. Jefferson calls me over.
"Yes?" I asked. He picks up a yellow piece of paper and handed It to me.
"I would have given you this yesterday, but you didn't come. I hope your fine." Worry fills his face, as his bottom lip twitches.
"Oh, uh I had a stomach bug." That's the wrong lie, can't even get my lies straight. I went from allergies to a stomach bug how riveting.
"That's hard to hear. This is the information for the Women's event, that's your scheduled time." I glance down to the bright yellow paper my time is 2:30 PM. That's the perfect time, not too late and not too early.
"Thank you." I spoke.
"Go and take your seat, we'll start on the lesson." I give him a nod and find my seat. I like to sit towards the back, since I do really well in my class, he's unlikely to call on me.
The bell rings throughout the school, making all the students run out the doors. I wanted to hang out with Lyra tonight, but she had plans with Jack. I think she's still a little mad at me for ignoring her, I can't really tell. It's been a couple days since I've been at work. If the store is slow, Ida won't let me come in. It's been nice though with all this Zastitnik werewolf stuff going on it's hard to concentrate.
"-and that's what I said. Thanks for the paycheck Ida, next time let's set up Venmo or something." Ida gives Claire a weird look.
"What's Venmo? Is that like a car or something?" Oh Ida, what will we do with her. Once Claire sees me, she rushes over and embraces me. The tightness of her hug cuts off my air and blood circulation.
"Hey Claire can you let go of me. My arms are starting to fall asleep, I'd like to have them awake." She lets go of me; her bright purple hair slays in front of her face.
"When did you change your hair color." The last time I saw her it was bright pink with shades of blonde. Claire is the type of girl that's always dying her hair, she says she feels like a new person each month so she has to switch up something and that's her hair color.
"Last week, wicked huh?" She flips her hair, I can smell her ginger shampoo, I need to get some of that.
"I like it."
"Thanks. When are we getting together to go out somewhere?" Crap I forgot about that, with everything happening things have been leaving my mind.
"About that, Lyra found a club in San Francisco. It's called Club Ten, wanna go?"
"Isn't that for people over 21?" I let out a laugh, since when does she care about the law. She always says the law and constitution is a way for the government to turn us into eternal slaves.
"It is, yes. Lyra made me and her fake ID's. I'll no longer be Quinneth Worthingshire, but Lauren Smith." A sweet smile appears on her lips.
"Lauren? Nice, you look like a Lauren. Hit me up with the details." I give her a nod and she walk out the door towards her car.
Alexander's P.O.V-
"Will she ever forgive me?" I asked my father.
"She will." My father says as he starts drawing on the Nygarrdian map. Since the breakout of Sasha my father has been putting pack members on all sides of the area to patrol. We know that she's going to come back here for revenge, starting with me and my father. She won't dare hurt Quinneth, if that was her motive Quinn would have been dead the moment she stepped down in the prison. Speaking of prison, how the hell did she get down there it's guarded by the best of the best. "Quinn is your mate, she will be mad at you for a period of time, yes, but in due time she'll come around."
"You don't. . .know that." The words curl in my throat. "You didn't see the way she looked at me, such disgust and betrayal written all over her face." The words worm off my tongue, the nasty words make me sick.
"I'm sure it wasn't that bad. Trust me I've done some messed up stuff to Col and everything worked out ok. Look at me and your mom stronger than ever." A small smile comes across his face. Whenever he talks about my mother, it makes him all giddy and stuff. He hates showing any type of feelings around me or any other pack members, but sometimes he slips up.
"It was bad dad trust me." I say in a definite voice. "See, you comparing her to Rhella is alright because you barely know her, but me as her mate and boyfriend saying that is totally wrong. When she was surrounded by those dead pack members. . .I instantly thought she killed them. I didn't even hesitate in weighing on the matter, I was sure she did it."
"Have you tried calling her and telling her this and not me." He sounds distracted as he signs some papers. As an alpha the job never stops, even if your son is in a crisis with his girlfriend. I've been calling Quinn all day. From the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep. I even went to her house and knocked on her balcony doors, absolutely nothing. She's never shyed away from me before, not since homecoming night. I just. . .care for her so much that I can't see her away from me.
I tangle my fingers in my wet hair, a few minutes before coming in here I took a shower. A long shower actually, when I'm tense or need to think of something I take a long hot shower.
"Any update with Sasha?" I ask him. I see his face change from normal to complex.
"Not.at.all. Oscar and the scouts have searched the our borders and Nygarrdian borders nothing has come up. I know that her and King Yount are planning something, I can feel it in my loins Alex. But what is she doing?" He whispers the last part; his forehead crinkles up.
Sasha and her father are very cleaver, strong and powerful people. I wouldn't be surprised if she had a plan right now, or was lurking in our bushes. I just hope she doesn't go back to Quinneth, since she's mad at me she might go to her out of spite. I can't protect her on Insofarian lands, she'll be on her own. The gamma didn't approve security for Quinn, which pisses me off. How is she going to protect herself, I can't be there 24/7. Hopefully, if something goes wrong I'll be able to protect her.
"It will be difficult to attack them since most of the red wolves live there." I tell him. Red wolves are extremely rare, most of the werewolves are in the Pergolian blood line.
Younts original name was Yount Pergola, but when he broke away from his brother's Kingdom, he changed it to Yount Sapphire hence his daughter, Sasha Sapphire. It would have been weird if there were two Pergolian Kings, I don't think they've seen each other, King Adalwolf and King Yount, since he left with Stella.
"I know, I'll have to talk with the Beta and Gamma on this matter. There have been worst problems than this. I've talked to Count on the phone."
"What did he say?"
"He wanted me to tell you stop calling Quinn your running up her phone bill, and "he knows" whatever that means." My eyes widen, I never told her that he knew about werewolves I wonder who did.
My father goes back to planning as my mind yet again drifts off to Quinn, I wonder what she's doing?
Quinneth's P.O.V.-
"You like this?" Lyra asked me as she holds up a hot pink dress. The V-neck is cut low as sparkles decorate the dress.
"Uh no. I don't like my boobs being on display like that." I respond to her.
"Are you serious? It's a night club not church Quinn, you want to go to the club?" She asked, I nod my head. "Then you have to dress the part, try it on." I let out a huff as I trudge to the bathroom. Shutting the door, I hear her talking through it.
"Are we all riding together or going separate?" Lyra asked.
"Separate. Claire is going to be coming down from San Fran, unless you want me to pick you up." I take off my shirt and pants, once their off I step into the dress. "This doesn't look right Ly." Standing in the mirror, I just stare at myself. God did not bless me in the chest category, also my hips are doing this weird thing I don't know what.
"What are you talking about your made for that dress, come on out." I can hear her shuffling through her closet, most likely picking out a pair of sparking heels. Walking out the bathroom, I smooth the dress out.
As she turns around, she stares at me for a few seconds then her head tilts to the side. "Yeah. . .that's not working on you. Take it off I'll pull another one out." I turn back into the bathroom but she stops me. "Where are you going? Just take it off here."
"Ly-"
"Quinn, we have the same body parts and organs, it will quicker than you walking back and forth." I slip out of the dress and hand it to her. Now I stand in the middle of her floor in bra and panties.
As she looks for a different dress, she starts asking me questions. "So, how are you and Alexander?" The question I dreaded to be asked, how are me and Alexander? Ever since leaving the pack house he's been calling me non-stop. When I was driving here, he called me, I immediately declined his call. It's been two days already and I'm still angry.
When he told me he was disgusted with me, it made me so angry and also sad. Thinking I killed those guards, like what motive would I have killing them? Comparing me to Rhella, the killer, was totally out of question. I can't be with someone who's can't trust me, and believe in me.
He can't be that shocked that I would go talk to her. She was the only one willing to tell me the truth, and to top it all off he knew that my grandfather was aware of werewolves. Now why wouldn't he tell me that?
I give her the most general answer ever, "Fine."
"Fine? Fine as in 'we are so good', or fine as in 'I don't know'." I ponder on the question.
"The first one." She hands me a crimson strapless bustier satin mini dress. This is actually cute, kind of boobie, but since it's so cute I'm ok with being uncomfortable. "Where did you get this?"
"Oh Polly, they have cute dresses. Now put it on." She says in a demanding voice, while pulling her red locks in a bun. Turning towards the mirror, I find my jaw dropped to the ground.
"Damn. . .I look amazing." Lyra hands hug onto my waist.
"If I wasn't straight, I would tap this." She lightly smacks my butt; I wince out in pain. She really doesn't know her own strength, but she was right I would date me too. "You better let guys know you have a man; they'll be after you like a sale on black Friday." I give her a weird look, but just go with what she said.
Honestly, I don't even know what me and Alexander are anymore. Is he even my boyfriend, or just my enemy?
