"ID's please." The bouncer said while holding his hands out for our ID's. I pull my dress down as we wait for him to let us in. It's pretty chilly outside, the wrong night to were a super cute short dress. Lyra notices my fumbling around and smacks my arm telling me to stop. She can be such a Gank sometimes, let me fumble in peace.
"Go in." He says while focusing on the people behind us. Honestly, I thought he would spot those fake IDs from a mile away, guess Randy Bellows did a good job. I'll remember to thank him the next time I see him.
Music, Lights, sweat and alcohol are the first things that hit me once we walk inside. Hundreds of people crowd the dancefloor moving smoothly to the techno music. A few strays lay against the wall, watching everyone else have the fun. I didn't realize that I was stuck in place looking around the room, Lyra is now nowhere to be seen.
To the right I see her sitting at the bar, next to a slightly hairy guy. He looks like he's downed all the alcohol behind the bar, eyes close slowly as he tries to keep guzzling it down. You think people would know when they had enough. I dive through the crowd over to Lyra, taking the seat quickly before someone takes it.
"Hey, where's Claire?" asked Lyra screaming over the rather loud music. The lights in here are kind of dim so all I can see are her bright white teeth.
"She said she'll be a few minutes late. She's finishing up a paper for her economics class." I tell her.
"That damn Claire, always doing something late. Does she expect me to hang with you all night?" I cut my eyes at her, what does she mean by that. I can be fun, sometimes, most of the time I just get lazy but at homecoming I was the life of the party. Well, the life of Lyle and I's party.
"Yeah, Claire needs to hurry up. I don't want to be around you your pretty lame." She nudges me with her arm. The ruffled sleeves on her dress scratches against my skin.
"Why did you choose to wear that dress, it almost murdered my arm?" It's a short peach dress with ruffled sleeves, but the material is rather rough against the skin. She did say how she hated the texture, but loved how the dress hugged her body. It did look rather ingenious on her.
"Beauty hurts! I need a drink, hey bartender!" Lyra waves her hand frantically trying to get this attention. With all the people at the bar, and the music so loud it took a few minutes for him to notice her.
"I don't think it's good for you to drink Ly. Remember the time you woke up on my lawn snuggled up with a lawn gnome." She shrugs off my comment.
"That was just one situation."
"Oh, what about the time you said you woke up hanging out of Jack's car."
"Ok stop. We get it I'm the worst drunk in the history of drunks. Can you try not to shame me please?" I hold my hands up, trying to show her me surrendering. The Bartender finally comes over to us, the look of tiredness is clear on his face. Besides him, there is another woman back there behind the bar.
"Sorry for the wait, one of the guys called in. What can I get you lovely ladies?" We both look down at the menu, I've never drank alcohol in my life. Well, that's a lie. A year ago, my grandpa let me have a sip of his Whiskey, it was rough and made me cough.
"I'll take a French 75 with extra lemon." I look at her like she's crazy, how does she know what that is?
"And what about you?" He looks towards me, I don't know any types of drinks, besides Vodka. That is definitely something I'm not going to order. I ordered the most basic drink out there, please don't shame me.
"Get me a sex on the beach." He nods and goes to the back counter to make the drink. Lyra just gives the most plain look ever.
"What?"
"A sex on the beach, really? Out of all the drinks you could have ordered that's what you order. You need to hang out with me more, more than you usually do."
"I- I didn't know what else to order. Whiskey is too strong and a Brandi doesn't seem appropriate. You got to bear with me here." While we wait for out drinks, I survey the club.
Club Ten is the most notorious for its crazy crowds, and from being here I can confirm that it is rather crazy. Everyone here looks so free, and happy. The lights flicker on and off, I don't know how no one has had a seizure yet.
My minds drifts to HIM. It's been a rough couple of days not talking or seeing Alexander.
I know that I'm taking what happened a few days ago rather hard, and maybe a little too far, but I can't get over the look on his face and the feelings. Now that my powers have come in, I've been trying not to get angry so I don't combust anything. Nothing else interesting has happened yet, just the light bulb thing.
I really wish there was another out there like me, someone who can help me out with all of this. The only person that could help me is Sasha, and she's rather crazy but I want answers.
"Here you go, if you need anything else just call me over." says the bartender.
I take a sip of my drink, the sweet taste tangs in my mouth. The alcohol is a little strong, but it tastes rather nice. I look over to Lyra to see her enjoying her drink. While guzzling down my alcoholic drink, I feel someone's arm come around my shoulder.
Looking behind me I see its Claire; her once purple hair is now black. She traded in her baggy rebel clothes for a more golden sleek dress. She looks amazing, better than me and Lyra.
"Ahhhh Claire I miss you bitch!" Lyra clutches onto Claire tightly, sometimes I think she likes Claire more than me.
"You too. Are you still dating that hunk Jack?" She asked.
"Yessss. He gets fine every day." Lyra responds. Claire shifts her gaze from Lyra to me.
"Look at you bones, or should I say Lauren. Who knew you had a body under those plaid skirts and sweaters? Is that a sex on the beach?"
"Yes." She then looks at Lyra and they exchange a strange look.
"That's what I looked like when she ordered that." Lyra chimes in.
"What is wrong with a sex on the beach?!" I say enraged.
"It's such a general drink, I've never known someone that ordered it." The music begins to change, I see a spark in Claire's eyes. Suddenly, her hips start to move.
"Leave your drinks let's go dance." She pulls me and Lyra's arms to the dance floor, people squish around us like a sandwich.
The music engulfs us and I find myself entranced by the dancing people and strobing lights. For the first time in a while, I feel. . .content and alive. All those worries and stress leave me, and now I'm just a girl with a little alcohol in her system dancing around with random strangers.
As I turn around, my hips sway to the music. In the distance, over the many bobbling heads, I see a familiar face leaning against the brick walls over by the bathroom. It's Will. He's talking to some leggy blonde with black streaks in her hair, what is he doing here?
"Hey Ly and Claire I'm going to the bathroom." They both nod their heads at me, I don't even think they heard what I said. I leave them to the dancing while shuffling through the many people. Once I'm in a free space I go over to Will. I tap him on the shoulder, he turns to me shocked that I'm here.
"Hi Will." I say.
"Hey Quinn. . .didn't think you see you here. Especially in a dress like that." His eyes linger on my body, the tight built-in corset insinuating my wait, the bustier part pumping up my boobs. I feel weird with him looking at me like this, the only person I'm comfortable with looking at me like that, I'm mad at right now.
"Well, here I am." I chuckle awkwardly. "What are you doing here?"
"I come here all the time, mostly on Friday." He responds. The leggy blonde just stares at me.
"Um hi I'm Quinneth." I say holding my hand out.
"Zeta Titan. Nice to meet you." Her grip is rather tight on mine, once she let's go, I shake my hand, damn she's one strong girl. "Your Alexander's mate, you are as beautiful as they say." I look towards Will, confused by how she know's about werewolves.
"Wait you're a wolf too, that's how you knew Alexander. Why didn't you tell me?"
"It wasn't my place; Alexander would have killed me. Also, Zeta is the daughter of Eadwulf Titan. The King of Almeeria." My eyes widen, I've never been in the same room with royalty, well except for Sasha.
I instantly bow to her, as I'm bowing, I hear Will and Zeta laugh. "Am I doing something wrong?"
"You don't have to bow to me. I might be a princess by birth, but I'm just a regular girl." Her bright purple eyes gaze at me.
"Sorry." I fluster.
"Your fine. You're lucky to have Alexander he's such a good guy. When we dated, he was so sweet." They dated; Alexander dated a whole princess. How am I supposed to compete with this?
"You- you dated him when?" I asked eagerly.
"Uh- wow it was years ago. I think when we were 15, I spent a summer in Nygaard." Thank god this was four years ago and not like 6 months ago. Why did he never tell me about her, he told me about the one girl he dated that only was with him to get close to Christian.
As me and Zeta, the beautiful leggy blonde princess, keeps talking I'm instantly entranced by her. She has this long, gorgeous blonde hair. Great body and the most creative eyes I've ever seen.
"If you don't mind me asking, how are your eyes purple." I lean into her so she can hear me. I keep forgetting these people are werewolves with heightened senses.
"It's a genetic thing from my mother, and father. I'm half vampire and werewolf." That. . .kind of makes sense, she does have fair skin and now that I look deeper, fangs. Alexander told me that vampires and werewolves are natural born enemies, do vampires and werewolves even have the same body parts to have children. Also, vampires are dead they can't have children is this like a Edward/Bella situation.
"A vampire? But vampires can't reproduce because well. . .their dead." She laughs at my ignorance, there's just so much that I don't know that I would like to know.
"That's just in T.V, Quinn. Vampires can have children with anyone really, well except like centaurs or a troll." She notices the curious look on my face. "Did Alexander tell you any of this?"
"Me and Alexander- we aren't on speaking terms." I say quietly, but due to her being a were- well hybrid she can hear me.
"Is this about the Sasha thing?" I nod my head. "Look, Alexander has a history of hiding things from people. I remember when I first came to Nygaard, the customs in Almeeria are way different than in Nygaard. So, in Almeeria we dress up for dinner, all the time, and so I come down the stairs dressed very fancy like and everyone is wearing regular clothes. I felt like a fish out of water, Alexander saw me previously coming down the stairs and didn't say anything because he didn't want me to be embarrassed. In conclusion, he doesn't tell people things because he wants to protect you, it's his thing."
"That's the thing, Zeta." I'm talking to her now like we're life long friends. "He doesn't have to protect me all the time. I can take care of myself, been doing it long before he came along. This is not about him protecting anyone, this has to do with me, who I'm meant to be. Did he tell you that I'm a Zastitnik?"
"You're the Zastitnik." Suddenly, she becomes more interested in the conversation. "I overheard my father talking about some Zatitnik in the American Kingdom, didn't know it was you. You know there hasn't been a Zastitnik in years, I've always wanted to meet one, their legendary. The things you can do are phenomenal, just incredible." Wow, I think she's more excited about me being a Zastitnik than I am.
"I.. . don't exactly have powers right now. A few days ago, I got angry and busted open a couple of lightbulbs. Besides that- nothing has happened." Her lips purse up as the strobing lights flicker in her purple eyes.
"It takes time for a Zastitnik to get their full powers, when you got angry you got some type of power. That means your powers are starting to come in, they'll come in slowly then fully. You had a strong emotion, anger, that triggered something inside of you. If you want to have your powers, try to trigger a strong emotion." Maybe she's right, that's what I'll do when I get home, try to get angry or really happy to trigger the magic.
"What's it like- you know being a princess? The daughter of a King?" I ask intrigued. It's not every day that you meet a werewolf/vampire princess.
"Uh. . .I don't know. It's been my life since I've been born, it was hard going to school and being a hybrid. Werewolves can't stand vampires, so some of them couldn't stand me. It was a difficult couple of years, but as I got older it got better. I was stronger than most werewolves from me having my vampire side, some felt intimidated by me." I can't imagine what it was like for her, trying to fit in but having people not like you because of what you are. This kind of relates to Alexander and I, are my powers going to be a problem for him?
"Where's Will?" Zeta asked. I began looking around the club, we've been talking for a few minutes now and I haven't even noticed he was gone.
"I think I saw him a few minutes ago on the phone. Hey, I'm going to go fill my drink up at the bar."
"Ok." She walks off towards the bar, while I go and find Will. Zeta said she saw him on the phone, with who though? Could he be calling Alexander to tell him that I'm here, that I'm in a club wearing a short dress dancing with men that are not him? Well, I wasn't dancing with them, they were just shaking their hips next to me.
I walk down the hall to see a bunch of people just standing around, some drinking and some vaping. The light above flickers erratically as it casts shadows on the strangers faces. At the end of the hall stands Will, hand clutched to his ear as he looks around, trying to see if anyone is looking at him. Once he turns around, I hide behind a couple, they don't even notice me because their tongues are down each other throats.
I wait a few minutes to move around, I creep down to the hall further more until I'm at ears length to hear him.
"Yes. . . she's here with friends. No, she's fine. . .she doesn't look different at all." He's clearly talking about me, but to who. I strain my neck trying to get more information. "I can't just take her in front of people, especially Zeta Titan, her father has an allegiance with King Adalwolf of Nygaard." Take me? Take me where, is he talking to Alexander? "Fine. . .yes I'll do it. Bye Sasha." Fear overcomes me, what is he doing talking to Sasha.
I charge down the hallway, the only thing I know is that I need to get the hell out of this club. With knowing how dangerous she is, I want nothing to do with her. Looking towards the counter, I see Zeta drinking while flirting with the bartender, I can't drag her down with me. Pushing through the many people, I see Claire and Lyra still dancing to the music, it's like I never left.
"Hey! I have to get out of here." I start dancing to the music so I won't be the weirdo standing stiff on the dance floor.
"What?! We've only been here for an hour, don't be a Debbie downer." Claire yells over the music, I didn't notice but a guy is dancing behind her. His arms wrap around her waist as she grinds on him.
"My uh- my grandpa needs my help!"
"With what?" replied Lyra.
"You know- he locked himself out the house I can't leave him outside." Lyra gives me a look; she knows that I'm lying to her but doesn't know why. "I'll see you all tomorrow." I leave them to their fun while I run out the building, for my life.
Instead of going out the front door, I go out the back leading me into an alley. Smoke rises from the chimneys as a group of friends stand by the garbage cans smoking. I don't know how they could stand out here, it smells of moldy cheese and spoiled milk. The winds blow around aggressively, pushing my curly hair in different directions. Thank god I brought a hair tie, quickly I put it in a high bun. Running, well trying to run, I head towards my car. A word of advice: don't ever wear heels when you're trying to get away from someone.
Finally reaching my car, I get inside and start it up. How could Will be working with Sasha and her people? He's supposed to be loyal to The Golden Summit Pack, to Nygaard. Pressing my foot hard against the gas, I drive erratically down the road. My heart starts to beat out of my chest, she wants me, she wants to use me.
While trying to get away I hear rustling in my backseat, looking in my car mirror I see red hair coming from behind the seat. That better not be who I think it is.
"LYRA! What are you doing in here?" I look at the road, but also her.
"You were acting suspicious." She answers.
"Suspicious? Why would you think I was acting suspicious? My grandpa is locked out of the house."
I can feel her scolding me in the backseat. "He's not locked out the house, remember, you told me he's out of town with Irene." Damn it, I've got to stop telling her everything.
"Look- I can't tell you evert-"
I'm cut off by the strange person standing in the middle of the street. His hand is held up, indicating for me to stop. My foot pushes hard on the brake, me and Lyra jolt up from our seats.
"WHO THE HELL STANDS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AT NIGHT!" She starts to breath rather hard while clutching the seat. I look towards the road; the man still stands, his hand up and everything.
He starts to lift his head up, me and Lyra's eyes widen.
"Is that-"
"Yes, that's Will."
