My eyes bulge open and I lose by breath, it's him, the guy from the party. I'd remember those black eyes and midnight hair anywhere. I put my hands on my stomach as it drops to the ground. I haven't been this nervous since I got my wisdom teeth taken out. My body freezes up and it seems like it's only us in the room. He stares at me with such lust and desire, I'm compelled. He, reluctantly, moves his eyes away from me and focuses on the mass of us.
"Hi, my name is Alexander and I intern here at the company. I mostly assist my father in meetings and sometimes get to weigh in on decisions. I hope to run the company as well as he does." He says proudly. So, he's cute and goal driven, nice. "In a few minutes I will take you guys in on a deal that my father is going to make so take a break and I'll be right back." He gives me another glance and walks off with his father.
"Lyra, come with me." I grab her arm and drag her into the bathroom.
"Jesus Quinn what the hell!" Lyra yells while soothing her arm. The door slams loudly behind us, it's jolts me up a bit.
"Sorry I... I just had to get away from the group." I tell her.
"Why?" She asks curiously.
"Remember that guy I told you about at the party that I had a stare down with? Also, the one who protected me from Will?"
"Yeah... why?"
"Well that guy is Alexander." I say.
"Wait, you and the CEO of the company?" She asked all confused. "Good for you!" She says giving me a pat on the arm. I groan at her.
"Nooooo Alexander Jr., his son."
"OMG this is so exciting he's cute and rich!" She said jumping up and down.
"Is that all you think about? Do I say something to him or let him come to me?" I say fondling with my fingers.
"No, you don't say anything the man should come to the lady. All you need to do is look all pretty and virginly like, which you won't have a hard time doing." She said the last part quietly.
"Oh, be quiet. You can go I have to use the bathroom." I tell her.
"OK if Mr. Banhammer is looking for you, I'll tell him where you're at before he sends a search party." She waves me off and heads out the door.
I handle my business, wash my hands and head towards the door. As I'm heading out, the door opened up on the outside and hit me right in the head. My body loses balance and falls back. A tall figure looms over me. My eyes went blurry for a few seconds then they returned to clear vision.
"Are you alright?" The figure said while kneeling down to my face. I could feel his minty breath on my cheek. One hand slides under my back to lift me up and the other hand sits on my face. I looked up at the unknown person to see that it's Alexander. Everything in that moment disappeared and it's only him and I. It's strange because I don't know him, but something inside of me draws me to him like he's my other half. Something that my body, my soul, has been waiting for for so long. A missing piece to the puzzle, a long and difficult puzzle at that.
"I'm fine thank you." I say shyly while looking at the ground. He raises me off the floor and makes sure that I stand up on my own. Once he sees that I'm ok he lets go and steps back.
"I'm so sorry I didn't see you." He says with worry in his eyes. Grey specks dance around in those jet black pools of his. A girl could get lost in those-
"I'm ok I promise it was a small hit I'll be fine." I tell him. He pans his hands over my body to make sure I'm ok. His smell was intoxicating, this touch felt like a godsend.
His dark and mysterious eyes start to wonder around us, having me follow his every movement. "Wait... This is the boy's bathroom what are you doing in here?" He asks me.
I look around the bathroom and see urinals lined up against the walls. My eyes return to the door and I see a boy's sign. My cheeks flush and I try not to laugh at myself.
"I ran in so fast I didn't realize that this was the boy's bathroom, how embarrassing." I looked everywhere but him. The floor actually looks quite nice right now. The black and white tiles remind me of a chess board.
He laughs at my response. "These things happen you know... Walking into the wrong bathroom or whatever."
"Yeah I'm sure this happens to you all the time huh?" I answer back to him.
"No uh not really I sometimes run into the wall when I'm on my phone, or trip over my shoes." He says as he chuckles, those fine hands that once were on the small of my back run through his black locs.
I laugh along with him as I tuck my hair behind my ear. He takes notice of this and follow my hands as the dark strands of hair lye behind my ear. I can hear his breath hitch in the throat and he takes a small but subtle step away from me. Did I do something wrong?
"My teacher and class may be looking for me I think I should get back." I say pointing to the door.
"Yeah you should go I'll see you out there." He said scratching the back of his head.
"You too, happy peeing." I respond back to him and leave out of the bathroom. I shouldn't have said that last part. I always seem to embarrass myself, why can't I be normal?
I arrive back at the group to see everyone how I left him mingling amongst each other. I look around for Lyra to see her sitting at one of the tables on her phone. I walk over to the seat next to her and sit down.
"Jesus what took you so long get lost in the bathroom?" Lyra asked.
"Something like that." I respond back to her.
The rest of the time was spent with Alexander and his father, Mr. Germani, showing us their day to day work and how they make deals with other companies. The whole time all I felt was Alexanders gaze on me. I tried to look away, but he was compelling.
While everyone was listening to the conservation at hand I walk over to the bubbly machine to get some water. Leaning down I push down the button to let the water out. I feel a presence in my midst looming over me, when I look up, lit's Alexander.
"Hi." He said looking me up and down.
"Hey." I responded back.
"Thirsty huh?" He asked awkwardly. He must not make small talk all the time.
"Yeah didn't really have time to eat or drink so I'm just drinking for now." I said shyly.
"Why not?" He asked walking up closer to me. At this point since I'm leaning down for the water all I see is his chest. I remove my eyes from his chest and focus on him, his face at least.
"Well it's a long story." I told him.
"I have time." He said responding back to me. Before I'm able to say anything I feel cool water on my hand I look down to see water overflowing out of the cup, gosh Quinn do you have to be absent minded right now? In front of the cute guy with the godsend muscles?
I jump back quickly and start fanning the water from my hands. "I'm so sorry this is the second time I have embarrassed myself around you." I told him.
He runs and grabs a towel from, I'm guessing a nearby closet ,and hands it to me.
"Thank you." I start to wipe the water from my hands and shirt.
"Welcome. Care to tell me the story." We both sit down on the bench and start to conversate.
"Well where to start. I had this date with a guy then he stood me up. I sat their for two hours I have never felt more humiliated in my life." The fact that I'm telling a total stranger this story is absurd. But there is a wonderous allure about him that makes me want to tell him anything. Tell them the weak stories of my soul, confide in him.
"I'm sorry that happened to you. I would never do that to you." He said responding to my story.
"You barely know me."
"Doesn't matter you aren't the type of girl that should be stood up." He turns and makes full eye contact with me when he says that. His eyes glisten as the suns rays fall upon them, his ridged muscles flex as he moves around. This man has to have been forged by the gods.
What I say next makes me regret even sitting down with him. "You're eyes are so beautiful." I say to him. Once I realize what I say I clasp my hands over my mouth in embarrassment. He's probably thinking what a creep I am.
He looks at me unsure of what to say. A smile forms on his face at my comment to him. "You think so?" He asked me.
"I do. Sorry if that creeps you out."
"No, not at all." I feel his finger slightly touch my own. We both look down at the closeness of our hands, we instantly feel a spark between our skins. I jerk back from him, and him to me. Weird.
"I must be getting back to the group. Thank you for the towel and listening to me. Most strangers won't take the time to listen to someone's story. " I tell him.
He leans down to me, his words barely a whisper, "I'm not like most strangers." He leaves me standing alone, as I was a few minutes ago. A glimpse of a smile dances across my lips.
After spending almost four hours their it was time to leave. We all headed towards the busses before we loaded, Mr. Banhammer did role call to make sure we were all here.
"Oliva Beck?"
"Here".
"Frankie Lopez?"
"Here."
"Lyraina Berkely?"
"Here." She responded out with a groan. "And it's Lyra."
He brushes off her response and calls out my name. "Quinneth Worthingshire?"
"Here." I respond.
"Ok everyone get on your busses and don't any of you try to fool me and get on the bus you weren't supposed to be on." He says eyeing us all.
Me and Lyra head over to our bus and settled in.
"So, what are you trying to eat tonight maybe Burg-oh-wow or Patty's Pizzas?" She asks me.
"Mm let's get burgers and pizza I can't decide." I say back. She nods to me while putting her ear buds in and closing her eyes.
Seeing that we won't be conversating on the ride back to school I just look out the window. I look up and see Alexander standing in front of the window with his hands in his pocket staring at me. I give him a small smile and a wave. He returns with the same kind gestures. The bus starts to drive off and we keep our gaze on each other until we were no longer in each other's gaze.
As everyone around me swallows up in their own conversations, and Lyras starts to doze off to sleep I think about the field trip, mostly about Alexander. Seeing him stumble through those doors, him starting at me the whole time, it made me feel a rush of energy inside of me. He's so myterious yet I feel like I already know him. I close my eyes and remember the touch of his hands on my back, the way his warm hand felt on my face. How I long for that. How I long for him.
Alexanders P.O.V.-
"So, that's her huh?" My cousin Greta says.
"Yes. Beautiful, isn't she?" I tell her while smiling.
"Quite Beautiful. You know you could never end up with her. Her being human and all, she could never lead the pack." She tells me while pouring a glass of water.
I swiftly turn around and walk towards her. "Meghyn was a human when she leaded the Kingdom of Nygaard over 500 years ago when her husband di-." I instantly stopped talking when my father walked in the room.
"Alpha." Me and Greta said while bowing to him.
"Did you talk to her?" My father asked while holding a scowl on his face.
"Yes." I told him.
"What did I tell you it's too dangerous. She's human and far too young." He tells me.
"She's 17 and I'm only 19. You and mom were the same age as me and Quinneth when you guys found each other." I tell him edging closer.
"Yes... But the difference is that your mother, like me, was a wolf. The age policy does not matter in the werewolf community, but to humans it's jail. We can't have anyone having a reason to snoop around here. You must forget about her."
"NO! I will not she's my mate and I hers." I say raising my voice.
My father sits down his binder and walks over to me. I can feel his breath on my face that's how close he is to me.
"I may be you father, but that doesn't mean I won't take you. Above everything else I am your Alpha so you'll show me some respect. Got it?" His eyes go black and his hands clench up.
No matter how much I wanted to defy him I couldn't. When an Alpha gives an order, you respect it or you'll face the consequences. Just because I'm his son doesn't mean he won't treat me like everyone else.
"Yes sir." He gives a nod and pats me on the shoulder. Grabbing his binder, he heads off to his office.
"Look I know she's your mate and everything, but you have to understand where he's coming from. You know he wants you to be happy would you be selfish enough to put the pack and the Kingdom at risk?" Greta says with worry in her voice.
"You know I would never do that to our Alpha king nor our people, but nothing is set in stone I will fight to be with her if it's the last thing I do." I tell her.
I move my mind to think about her. I wonder what she's doing now.
Quinn's P.O.V.-
"Lyra come on we have to do this assignment it's due tomorrow." I tell her throwing a pillow at her head. She's been texting Jack non-stop.
"Ugh fine you're such a bore." She sits her phone down and grabs the computer. "What am I supposed to do?" She asked
"Look up the positions at Germani Industries we need to put it on the poster board." I grab my markers from my side drawer and start to outline the poster into sections.
"Fine let's start with that fine piece of meat, Alexander Jr." She says.
"LYRA!" I scream at her while we have a tug-a-war over the computer. She pushes me against the bed and runs over to my desk. "I don't want to be up all night doing this."
"Chill out you won't. Plus, this will only take 10 minutes tops. You can't tell me you are not the least bit curious of who your mystery man is." She wiggles her eyebrows together in a seductive way. I am interested in knowing more about him, why deny it the opportunity.
"Fine only 10 minutes. What did you find." I lay the markers on the bed and walk over to her and the computer.
"Let's see here... his full name Is Alexander Ernouf Germani, weird middle name. He's 19 years old, ohhh an older man we love that." I roll my eyes at her and let her continue on. "His mother's name is Coletta Germani, to what I am understanding he has no siblings. Lastly, he has two cousins Greta, the one we met, and another one named Lamon. His family is worth over a billion dollars, Jesus Christ that is one heck of an inheritance he's getting. Oh, and check this they have property in the West Isles, France and even Antarctica." Now that's weird.
"So, to sum it all up he's a handsome older man with land in weird locations and who is going to inherit a bunch of money?" I ask her.
"Exactly." She says.
I lean closer to the computer. I see something in the bottom of the screen that looks like an event, but before I can look Lyra closes the laptop quickly.
"Hey I was looking at something on there." I told her looking at her like she was crazy.
"We need to focus on this project you said it yourself." She drags me off to the bed and I grab up my markers and start finishing up the outlines. There was something strange about her closing the computer so suddenly, but I shrug it off most likely Lyra just being Lyra.
