*BEEP BEEP BEEP*
I sit down the chocolate cookie that I was eating on the plate and walk over to the microwave. Grabbing the oven mite, I take out the hot, steamy cups of water and sit them on the counter.
"You almost done!" I hear my Grandfather scream from the living room. "The show is about to start."
"Almost just a minute." I responded back to him. Tonight, is our "Tom and Jerry" marathon night. Every year the television station shows a marathon of "Tom and Jerry" and we have yet to miss it.
I open up two packs of hot chocolate and pour them into the hot water. Grabbing the spoon right next to me, I stir up the chocolate until it's fully submerged in the water.
"I'm coming in!" I tell my grandfather. In one hand I hold the hot chocolate and in the other I hold the plate of chocolate cookies.
"Yes. It smells wonderful Quinneth." My Grandfather says while he leans up a bit off the couch and grabs the hot chocolate from me. Sitting the cookies down on the coffee table, I wrap the white fluffy blanket around my bodice and plop down on the couch.
"You're welcome. I hate to brag, but these chocolate cookies that I made are amazing." I lay my legs on top of my Grandpa's lap and snuggle up in the couch.
"I bet they are." My Grandpa responded back.
He hands me my hot chocolate and I thank him. Moving the mug around in my hand I analyze it. This was the mug I made in the 4th grade for my Grandmother. The handle and cup are not proportioned to the same size, the color was dark pink with white flowers around the cup. I remember being so proud of it. I leaned the cup towards my mouth and took a sip of it, the warm liquid slid down my throat.
Tom and Jerry enter onto the screen. Me and my Grandpa burst out in laughs. It's the scene where Tom is trying to stab Jerry with a needle in the pool table. I continue on watching the show then slowly drifting to thinking about Myers.
I mean who was that girl? Was she an old girlfriend, or was she someone he was cheating on me with? He hasn't been calling or texting me lately, I just thought it was because he was mad at the whole Alexander situation. Maybe it was because he was moving on from me. I've grown quite fond of Myer's and I love the time we spend together. Maybe our time is up.
My mind moves on to Alexander. He may be a cocky douche at times, but he's sweet and caring towards me. He clearly likes me, but my feelings towards him are confusing. Every time we touch hands, I get this spark that tingles throughout my body. Not an electrocuting spark but a spark that feels nice and I would like to feel it again. The night at the charity auction was the best night I've ever had in a long time, I felt alive.
"Quinn you alright?" My grandfather asked with curiousness all over his face. I leaned over and placed my hot chocolate on the coffee table. Pushing myself off the couch I come face to face with my Grandfather.
"Can I ask you a question Gramps?" I asked.
"You know you can ask me anything." He responded back.
"So, you know how I have been dating Myers." I told him. He gives me a nod.
"Ok, so lately he hasn't been talking to me because of what happened at the charity auction thing. We just made up today, but I don't feel convinced that he's over it."
"What happened?"
"Well Myers was going to bid on me, then another guy bids 10,000 dollars and beats out Myers." I said to my Grandfather. In response to what I just said, he chokes on his cookie. I pat him on the back he soon calms down.
"10,000 dollars!" He screamed out.
"I said the same thing and had the same reaction."
"Let me guess Myers is jealous of the guy and thinks that you and his rich guy have something going on."
"Exactly. Oh, and check this yesterday me and Lyra went to go drop off the applications and we saw him across the street with some girl, and he kissed her on the cheek." I tell him leaning over the coffee table for a cookie.
"Maybe that was his mom." He said reassuring me.
"That's what I said, but she looks our age it couldn't be."
"You need to take a break from him and figure out what next steps you want to take. Also, confront him about what you saw and see if there was more to this encounter."
"Ok." That's why I love talking to my Grandfather he gives the best advice. Most kids my age would be scared to talk to their parents or grandparents about their romantic lives. Growing up all I had was mostly my Grandfather he assured me that I could talk to him about everything and I do just that. He's my best friend, Lyra coming in first though.
We continue talking until I hear a beating on the front door. Who could that be at this hour? I take the blanket off of me and head to the door.
"Calm down I'm coming!" I screamed to this person behind the door. Opening up the door I'm greeted by Lyra. She's wearing a dark blue satin dress with platform butterfly shoes. Her red hair is curled with loose waves that flow down her back. She's supposed to be going on her date with Jack what is she doing here?
"Ly what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be on your date with Jack?" I asked her.
"Yeah I am. I just need your help." She said desperately.
"Who is that?" My grandfather yells from the living room.
"It's Lyra!" I responded. "Come in." I opened the door wider so she could come in. Me and Lyra walk into the Livingroom. Grandfather turns to me and Lyra.
"Lyraina you look amazing." My Grandfather says to her.
"Thank you I know." She says cocky like. "I got to get going real quick so." She said pointing at her wrist.
"We will be up in my room. I'll be gone a few minutes." He gives me a nod and turns his attention back to the TV. Lyra yanks me by my arm up to my bedroom.
"Jesus Ly you almost pulled my arm off." I said rubbing my hand on my sore arm.
"Sorry. Jack is waiting for me in the car outside. I needed to drop by to borrow your Grandmother's Tiffany drop earrings." She said looking around my room for them. I pointed towards my jewelry box.
"Don't lose them Lyra they mean a lot." I tell her crossing my arms. My Grandfather bought those earrings for my Grandmother and his first anniversary. He told he had to save up for three years to buy her those earrings. They are the one thing she left to me when she died.
"I'm not Quinney I swear." She said crossing her heart. Turning towards my mirror she puts on the earrings. "So, watching lame Tom and Jerry on a night you could be out."
"Tom and Jerry aren't lame. Plus, I like staying in it's nice." I responded back to her.
"That's what lame people say when they have no plans." She turned around and modeled her outfit for me. "How do I look?"
"Exquisite." I tell her.
"Thank you."
Outside my house we hear someone honking on their car horn. Must be Jack. She rolls her eyes and walks over to my balcony window.
"HOLD YOUR HORSES JACK OR YOU'LL BE GETTING NONE TONIGHT." She screams to him down below.
"Ewe TMI." I tell her. She pushes me onto my bed. "Chill out you prude. So, what are you going to do about Myers?"
"Well at school I'm going to confront him."
"That's my girl! Be assertive let him know you will not be taking any bull shit."
Before I could respond back to her, my phone begins to ring. Hoping that it was going to be Myers it was instead Alexander. I asked him to call me tonight.
"Who's that?" Lyra asked looking over at my phone. I snatched it up before she could see who it was.
"It's Alexander." I tell her. She wiggles her eyebrows at me.
"Get out of here and go on your date. Let my Grandfather know I'll be down in 10 minutes." I tell her. She gives me a hug really quick, thanks me for the earrings and head down the stairs.
I press the answer button and place the phone to my ear.
"Hello." I answered.
Alexander's P.O.V.-
"Left position, right position, front kick, turn and again!" I yell to my class. Two times a week when I'm not at my father's company I teach a self-defense class at the Pack's Academy. The Golden Summit Academy to be exact. It's been opened since the pack was created.
"Ok guys that's enough for today. You all were fantastic go on home and get some rest." All the students start to grab their bags and head out the door. I turn around collecting my phone and water bottle from the ledge behind me.
As I turn back around the doors open up and Aren walks over to me. She skips over and slaps a piece of gum in her mouth.
"Hey." I tell her. She stops in front of me and hops in the chair that lays on the back of the wall.
"Hey how was your class?" She asked propping her face in her hands.
"Good. All the students are getting better and better each class." I respond back to her.
"My class is way better than yours Alexander." She says to me with a sassy tone. Aren's father is the Gamma of our pack. He is also the General of our pack's army so he's the best-known warrior that we know. Since Aren is his daughter she inherited the fighting gene from him. Just like her older sister Arpa and her little sister Aora.
"Please, my fighters against yours I bet I'd win."
"Bet." She speaks.
"Bet." I respond back. We reach our hands out to each other to shake on it.
"Come on let's go I'm bored." We both leave out the double doors and walk on down the hallway.
"Where's Christian?" I asked her as we turn down the hallway towards the kitchen.
"He's on the phone with Luci. You know how he gets when Luci calls." She says rolling her eyes. Luci is Christian's mate. She's currently in Nygaard studying to be a Keeper. All men and women who want to be a Keeper have to study at Nygaard because that is where all the Keeper teachers are. She's been there for now two years and Christian misses her a lot. When you're studying to be a keeper there's not a lot time for socialization. They keep them on a strict schedule, they can only hang or call someone once a week.
"Yeah, I know. What would Christian do without Luci?" I speak. We finally arrive at the Kitchen.
"Probably die." We both laugh together and sit down at the Island chairs.
"I have a mate. Christian has a mate, where the hell is yours?" I ask her grabbing an apple from the table.
"Most likely at the Luxor Kingdom eating ice sickles." She says after popping a bubble with her gum. I have no response to her comment instead I just laugh.
We both turn around when we hear foot steps behind us, it's Christian. He sticks his phone in the back pocket of his jeans and comes around to us with a big smile on his face.
"I take it the phone call with Luci was amazing." Aren says to Christian making kissing noises. I chime in with her also making kissing noises. He places his hands on our faces and pushes them back.
"You guys are so corny." He says to us leaning over the island. "Speaking of girls, let's talk about Quinneth. Have you found a location for you guys date?"
Recently, I have been looking around for a place for our date. I have been unlucky to find the perfect place. I want this to be special and the best night of her life.
"Alex your father's a Billionaire and an Alpha you have the world practically given to you." Aren says.
"Even so I can't think of where to take her. What would be a perfect place to take her?" I rub my temples with my index fingers.
"Man, you should take her to the Sunlight Café on the beach. I took Luci there once and she loved it. Take her at night the stars are out and the moon is bright she'll love it." I lift my head up and think about what Christian just said. I remember Luci coming home raving about it.
"That's perfect Christian thanks I have to go call her." I leave them in the kitchen talking. I walk out the sliding door into the back porch. Dialing Quinn's number, I listen to the phone ring until she answers.
"Hello?" I hear her delicate voice say over the phone.
"Hey, how are you?" I asked her while putting my hand in my front pocket.
"I'm doing fine I was just helping out a friend. What's up?" She asks.
"Hanging with friends. I wanted to call you about the date. You remember, don't you?" I across my fingers together in my pocket hoping she remembers.
"Yes, you know I remember it how could I forget? Did you find out where you are going to take me?"
"Well yes I have, but I'm not going to tell you it's a surprise." I tell her. Through the phone I can sense her pouting.
"If it has to be that way then I'll accept." She says laughing. "Well at least tell me what to wear."
"You could wear nothing." I say lifting up my eyebrow.
She bursts out laughing at my comment. "Alexander that's inappropriate. I have a boyfriend." I roll my eyes at the last part. Not for long.
"Yeah, yeah I know. Has lover boy called you back yet?" I asked. He hasn't called her in days and she told me that he keeps ignoring her because of what happened at the charity auction. I can't help it that I'm richer than him. For him to ignore her to treat her like she doesn't matter makes me want to wring his neck. He doesn't deserve her, whereas I do. Hopefully on this date things will change.
I hear her shuffle around her room. "No, he hasn't called me back. He keeps ignoring me I don't know what to do."
"You could break up with him." I suggest to her.
"I could, but I don't know. Moving on what should I wear on the date?"
"Just wear something comfortable and thin. Nothing thick or long where we are going is not cold."
"OK. Look I have to go my Grandfathers waiting for me downstairs. It's Tom and Jerry night." She says giggling. "I'll talk to you later, bye." I tell her bye and we hang up the phone.
Behind me I hear movement. Turning around I find Christian and Aren standing before me laughing,
"You could wear nothing." Aren says mocking me.
"Shut up." I said to her with a snarl on my face. Her and Christian continue to laugh. I turn my back to them and smile to myself. This is going to be a perfect night.
