"I don't like the way their looking at me." I say to Alexander taking my eyes off their staring eyes.
"It'll be alright, we don't have a lot of humans that come around here. Well except for-
"Except for who?" I stare intently at him, trying to understand what is happening right now.
"-Never mind, doesn't matter. Let's get you away from prying eyes." He pushes me in the direction of a very long hallway.
"Where are we going?" I ask, my feet moving quickly across the floor.
"It's a surprise."
"You know I hate surprises." I say letting out a loud groan, so loud I can hear it echo in the hallway. Fear eats me up inside, mostly I think too much into it and can't not think about it.
"Fine, you angry grouch, I'll tell you." I dig my heels into the ground, stopping us in the hall.
"What did you call me?" Did he just refer to me as that green beast from the Grinch.
"A grouch, now let's keeping moving." He turns me back around and we procced back down the long hall, god where are we going feels like the hall goes on forever.
"Seriously, where are we going?" My voice stern.
"If you really want to know, I'm taking you to the dungeon."
"Ohhh really. You know I've always wanted to go to the dungeon. Their so dark, scary and gothic-chic." Behind me I hear him snicker, what's he snickering about?
"You know I'm lying, right. You're so gullible." I give a pout while crossing my arms.
"Why do you continuously lie to me?" You know I'm staring to think he get's off on lying to me, he'll lie about the weirdest things. Just last Tuesday, I thought I lost my phone, when I asked him where it was he said he didn't see it. Turned out it was in his pocket the whole time, he's so evil.
"It gives me a sense of meaning, now turn right." I take a hard turn until we reach a silver door, pushing it open my eyes widen from what I see.
"This- this is amazing." I smile in awe. It's like a whole new world, new people. Many women and men walk along the sidewalks smiling and joking with each other. This is a town inside of a town. On the left is an ice cream shop, restaurant and bank. Whereas on the right, from what I can see from this point, there's a movie theater and dance studio.
"I know. Welcome to the town of Golden Summit. Some werewolves don't like to leave the grounds, so we brought the town to them. Everything out in St. Helena and the world we have here."
"Why would you want to leave this place, I would stay here forever." He kisses me on my forehead, while rubbing my back.
"Glad you like it."
"It's not...what I expected." I say in disbelief.
He lifts my chin up so I can look directly at him, "What did you think it was going to look like?"
"I don't know like maybe some caves with wolves in it. And like their fighting over Zebra meat, but the bigger wolf gets it instead. Maybe, just maybe a nice log cabin where big things happen like meeting and stuff." He rolls his eyes at me, while his hands are stuck in his pocket.
"That is so stereotypical, maybe a little werewolf-racist." I give him a tight hug.
"I'm sorry, I thought that's what you liked about me." I see a smile form on his lips.
"Come on, you hungry?" I nod frantically. "You want some ice cream."
"Why would you ask me that, ice cream is my second favorite food."
"What's the first?"
"Wings." He grabs my hand and we walk over to the ice cream stand.
"Do they have all types of flavors?" I ask.
"They should, why what do you want like Trail Mix or something?"
"Actually, yes." He faces scrunches up in disgust. No one likes that flavor, or even carries it. The only place that does is the local ice cream shop in St. Helena. When I was younger my mother would get me one every time I made an A on my test. So, I always made sure that I would make an A. It was her favorite flavor, too.
"You are so nasty, ewe. Trail Mix does not belong on Ice cream." I smack his arm lightly.
"It does too, don't judge something you don't understand." We arrive to the ice cream shop. A couple grabs their ice cream and walk away hand in hand. I wonder what werewolf relationships are like, it must be fun and exhilarating.
"Hey Ken, can I have a chocolate-Vanilla ice cream, and if you have the nasty flavor of Trail Mix, I'll take that."
"Sure thing, anything for the Alpha's son." I look at Ken amused, then to Alexander.
"The Alpha's son huh? Look at you being the big man on campus." I say jokily. He just plays with the curl strand that hangs from the nape of my neck.
"Awe is someone jealous."
"You wish."
"Here's your ice cream." As Alexander grabs the ice cream from Ken, I spot something rather interesting. What I'm assuming is a couple, are two werewolves in wolf form just strolling down the street. It's kind of weird because most of the others are in human form.
"Quinneth here." I grab the ice cream from Alexander and we procced down the street. "Hey, you, ok?"
"Uh yeah- well no not exactly. While you were grabbing the ice creams, I saw two wolfs walking down the street." He gives me a weird look.
"I'm a wolf, is it weird for me to be walking the street?"
"Yeah, it's fine, I didn't mean that. They were shifted in wolf form walking the streets, why aren't they in human form like everyone else?"
"Oh that. Some wolfs don't like to be in human form, they prefer the wolf form instead."
"Why?" I ask licking my ice cream.
"They feel it isn't the way we are supposed to be. Our natural form is the wolf form, that's how we should be always. It's what the moon goddess intended for us to be." He says nonchalantly, as his tongue glides over his ice cream.
"The moon goddess."
"Well, her name is Selene, the moon goddess. She's like what Jesus is to you guys."
"Wait, Selene the Greek goddess."
"Exactly, look at you all smart and stuff." He wraps his arm around my shoulder.
"What does she do for you guys, or like what does she mean to you all?" I bite the rest of my cone and throw the napkin in the garbage.
"Selene is someone who looks over us and makes sure we are alright. Her most important job is matching everyone up with their mate. Also, we talk to her about stuff."
"Interesting, do you talk to her?" Alexander doesn't seem too religious to me, sometimes I think I've seen him pray. He may have just been mumbling to himself.
"I haven't in a while. With my Alpha studies and work it's been hectic and I haven't had enough time to talk to her. Also, this really hot girl with short skirts have been taking up most of my time."
"Mhm tell me who's this girl? I'm kind of jealous of her." I say laughing.
"You don't know her; she's better looking than you." I gasp at his comment. "Just lying, she's smart and really beautiful."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome." He gives me a quick peck on the lips and we procced walking. "This is the end, Quinn. From here and on it's just houses that belong to the pack members. Let's go back into the pack house." Looking onward, I see rolling hills of great lands, houses peak over them.
"Ok, lead the way." I follow him back to the house.
"That's the end of the tour, did you enjoy it?"
"I did actually. Wait, what's that down here." I point towards the hall on the left side of the house.
"Oh, it's just meeting rooms and my father's office."
"Is this her Alexander?" I turn around to see a middle-aged woman walking over to us. Her dirty blonde hair is tied up in a ponytail as her glasses sit on her head.
"Yeah, mom this is Quinn." She pulls me in tightly for a hug, she smells of lavender and orange.
"I've been waiting for so long to meet you." Her hug starts to get a little tight, Alexander can see the struggle on my face.
"Mom, your kind of smothering her." She let's go of me quickly.
"Sorry honey I forget I have werewolf strength."
"It's alright, it's nice to finally meet you. Alexander tells me a lot of you."
She smiles at him and pinches his cheeks.
"Mom stop!" He wines out, this is so cute.
"He loves it trust me. Any way's what are y-." She stops talking and her eyes roll back. They move around erratically; I back up against the couch.
"What's- what's wrong Alexander?"
"It's ok Quinn, she's talking through the channel."
" The Channel?"
"All the wolves here are on the same line. There's the warrior channel, mate channel, and the higher-ranking channel. She's on the last one." Suddenly, she stops and fear overcomes her.
"Alex, we have to go. Someone was found lurking on our boarder." All of a sudden, a bunch of wolves come around the corner running outside to the backyard. From what I can tell it's pretty serious.
"What's going on?" I ask Alexander reaching for his arm, but he moves away walking with the crowd. "Alexander!"
"Alexander leave her here; she could be in danger. It's nice to meet you, Quinneth, I'll see you later." His mother joins the crowd.
"Quinn baby you got to stay here Ok."
"Bu-."
"Don't argue with me, this is your life were debating about. Stay here." He says in a demanding tone. I do as he says and stay in the house. He places a tender kiss on cheek and walks away with the others.
While their all outside talking, I just look at them. His mother said that someone was lurking on their boarder, who are they talking about? Is it one person, or two? Suddenly, I see two big strong men dragging a person. The persons hair covers it's head, something is familiar about them.
"Lift it's head up." Alexander's mother says loudly. Once the persons identity comes to light, all signs of oxygen leaves my chest. I couldn't believe who I was seeing, this is not true.
"Sasha." I say loudly. Everyone turns around and looks at me.
"Sasha." I say a little bit quieter. What is she doing here, this isn't making any sense? There was something weird about her when she came into the shop a few weeks ago, but I shrugged it off. The world is filled with weird people you just ignore it and go along with your day. Also, what about the visions? When we touched hands, I got the three visions, did she see them too? She has to have the answers that I've been looking for, I need to talk to her.
"Hello Quinneth, nice to see you again." A smug look plays on her face as her black curls hang low.
"You! Don't talk." Alexander's mother voice rings throughout the woods. When we first talked, she was quiet and nice, now she's all tough and scary looking. I've always had a weakness for powerful women, we need to talk more.
"Yes, Alpha!" Sasha says mocking her.
"How do you know each other?" Alexander asks me, everyone turns around waiting to hear the story.
"Yeah, Quinneth tell them how we know each other." A sly smiles forms on her face.
"She...came into my work a few weeks ago for a painting. Then we-." I pause, trying not give away too much information. I just got to know these people I don't want to give a reason to investigate me.
"Then we what?" Mr. Germani says trying to further the conversation.
"We just uh- talked about why she moved into town and stuff." Good save.
"Mhm, are you sure that's it." His father's eyes zoomed in on me, he could tell I was leaving something out. His eyes may scare the shit out of me, but they won't make me cave.
"It is." My chin lifts in confidence.
"Ok men, take her down to the dungeon. Don't say anything to her."
"Yes sir." Both the men say as they drag her across the ground. As she passes me by, I see a red dart in her shoulder and back. Did they drug her?
Now that I think about it, her words did come out all wonky. Alexander walks over to me as his hands try to calm me down, I didn't realize I was shaking,
"You, ok?" Worry ripples off of him.
"I'm uh- I'll be ok. It's just shock."
"We've been trying to take her down for a couple months now. She just happened to slip up and we were able to capture her." A proud look forms on his face.
"What were both darts in her back and shoulder?"
"It was a drug to calm her down."
"She's a wolf isn't she as strong as you?" I don't understand, she may be a bad person from what they're making it look like. He's an Alpha isn't he the strongest of the strong.
"Sasha isn't any kind of wolf, she's a Red Wolf."
"A what?"
"Red wolf have special abilities such as running super-fast, faster than an Alpha. Also, strong hearing and they can see people's visions." My eyes widen when he mentioned the visions. So, she seen what I saw when our hands touched. If she did then why not say anything to me, or come back and explain? This is all confusing and a lot.
"Let's bring you inside, come on." He pulls me close to him as we walk inside the pack house. Alexander's parents and some other adults all stand around whispering to each other, most likely about Sasha.
"I thought you said there wasn't a dungeon." I clutch onto his side.
"It isn't one. My father just says that to make it scary." It did sound scary when he said it.
A couple people end up walking away, while Alexander's mother and father stay.
"Were so sorry that this happened when you first showed up." Mrs. Germani says.
"It's ok- you can't control these things. It's not every day you capture a person, right?" I say awkwardly.
"Right." She laughs. "Well, if you would like to stay, we would love to have you." She gives me a warm smile.
"She can't stay. I should be getting her home." Alexander says patting me on the back. I look up, giving him a weird look.
"I don't have t-."
"YES, you do Quinn. Her grandfather is strict about her curfew."
"That's a bummer. I hope you had a good day, before what happened happened of course."
"I did, this is a really cool place. I can't wait to come back." I say enthused. This place is humungous, I would love to explore more. Maybe even get some more ice cream, most definitely getting some more ice cream.
"See you later Ms. Worthingshire." Mr. Germani says to me, then he proceeds down the hall. Once we are alone, I give Alexander a few piece of words.
"What the hell was that?" My hand rests firmly on my hip.
"What was what?"
"The whole 'quinneth-can't-stay-she-has-curfew'. It makes me sound like a kid."
"Your kind of a kid Quinn." I gasp at his comment.
"Hey! I'm 17 years-old. Grandpa said I am a woman." I said proudly.
"That you are." A smirk comes on his face, while gawking at my body. I smack his shoulder.
"Stop checking me out you perv."
