Kaylee
Warning: This chapter gets a bit handsy and steamy, but there is no detailed sex.
"What are you doing here?"
"Do you want me to leave?" I asked. I lifted an eyebrow when he didn't answer right away.
"No," he grabbed my wrist and pulled me close. He pressed his lips against mine, smiling into the kiss. "I'm glad you're here."
A familiar, blaring of a horn broke off my next question. I turned to look at the end of his drive way, where a black pick up truck full of idiots were waving impatiently. Great, his and Toni's group of friends were here.
"Going somewhere?" I asked, slightly disappointed. Of course I could have called before coming here, but I really hadn't planned anything out.
"The night club, you want to come?" He asked with an underlying twinge of hopefulness.
As much as I enjoyed a night out, I wasn't really in the mood. "I don't really--"
"Please," he pressed a chaste kiss to my lips. "Come with us. With me. I've missed you."
I hesitated.
He kissed me again. "It will be ten times more fun with you there. After, we can come back here and in the morning I'll make you breakfast."
It was hard to hold a grudge against him when he said things like this. When he made good on these promises. When he kissed me like that. "Okay."
He grinned from ear to ear, dragging me by the hand towards the truck of hollering lunatics.
"Get in loser," the driver said, then noticing me, he smirked. "Haven't seen you in a while Kay, where's Toni?"
"How the fuck should I know?" I asked sharply.
"Liam didn't tell us you would be joining, there might not be enough room." Keith said.
Liam stepped into the back, wrapped his arms around my waist and lifted me onto his lap. "We fit."
Keith rolled his eyes. "I take it you two are back on again?"
"Mind your own fucking business." I said. If these people weren't so close to my best friend and Liam, I would be content never speaking with any of them ever again. Especially Keith. He's been pissy since the beginning of time, all because I wouldn't sleep with him. The guy was a jock in high school, is working in construction and has been labelled by yours truly--a prick.
Liam kept his arms wrapped securely around me. He started pressing open mouthed kisses to my neck. "I missed the shit out of you, Kay-kay."
I angled my head to give him better access. We could be in his bedroom right now. Hell, we could be in his kitchen, with me on the counter and him between my legs. But no, he thought it'd be a better idea to go to the club.
"Hey now, keep it PG you two." Fefe said from beside us. She wrinkled her nose, giving Liam a pointed look.
He smirked against my neck, raising one of his hands from my waist to slip under my shirt and cup my boob.
I arched my back against him, my body screaming for more of his touch.
"Fuck you, Liam." Fefe said flatly.
"Save the fighting for later, we're here." Jamie said happily from the passenger seat. His hair color had changed since the last time I'd seen him. Now it was neon green and royal blue. He lead the way through the parking lot, heading straight for a group of girls once we were inside.
Liam tugged me towards the bar, where he ordered four shots of vodka.
I admired the way his back muscles flexed under the shirt he wore. His shoulders were so broad, I loved scraping my nails against his ruff skin. "Red looks good on you."
He gave my legs a pointed look, twisting his finger into one of the belt loops of my red jean shorts to pull me closer. "Not as good as it looks on you."
I smiled as he handed me one of the shots, suddenly glad that I had changed out of my swets before going to his house. We knocked the shots back, the next two quickly following. I'd started to turn towards the dance floor when he flipped me around and pinned me between two stools and into the counter.
He kissed me long and hard. The room started to spin. The music was in sync with the beating of my heart.
"Are you ready to have some fun?" He asked against my lips.
I nodded, unable to coherently form the words.
He grinned, taking my hand to lead me out onto the dance floor. It was like it always was. The world fell away. It was just us and the music. Swaying, our bodies pulling apart only to mold themselves back together. His hands in my hair, on my waist, down my thighs. I couldn't get enough of him, of these moments.
We were there for hours, in our own little world. Fefe and the others were a distant memory. We didn't think about them when we danced, when we drank, or when we ordered a taxi back to his place.
We stumbled through the dark into his apartment. Without turning on any lights, I walked past the kitchen and living room into his bedroom.
He turned on his desk lamp, watching me closely as I started discarding clothing. Wordlessly, he stripped down to his boxers, handing over the shirt he'd been wearing.
Normally I slept in my bra and panties, but for some reason he liked it when I wore his things.
We crawled under the gray covers, facing each other on the queen size bed.
He pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead. "You're so fucking beautiful."
Smiling like a three year old, I wrapped my arms around his torso and pulled him closer. "Liam?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you think you could ever love me?" I asked softly. Nervsouly. This was not a subject we often discussed, intoxicated or not.
"I think out of everyone, if I knew what love was, it would be you." He said confidently.
My heart swelled just a little. Still, I wanted to hear those three words.
"I'm not going to pretend to know what the fuck love is." I said quietly. "But sometimes I think it's picking out a person you can see yourself spending the rest of your life with. Someone who makes you really fucking happy, who you enjoy spending a shit ton of time with."
He took a strand of my hair and started twirling it around his finger. "Dad has always said that love is accepting someone for who they are, flaws and all."
I bit down on my lower lip hard. He knew my story. He knew what kept me up at night. Why I was so fucked up. "I've got an abundance of those."
"Your flaws aren't flaws to me, Kay-kay."
I was scared to admit to myself that that made me hopeful. "Does that mean you love me, or could love me?"
He paused for a long moment, my hair trapped between his fingers. "I don't know. What I do know is this, I'll always choose you over everyone else. As long as you'll have me, you're it for me."
I believed him. Even after all of the girls he's seen or been with. After all the times I've walked in on him or found panties at his place. Because he's only ever turned to other girls when I've walked away from him. When things were getting too deep or we started arguing over something stupid.
Deep down, I think I've always known that being with me scares him. At the same time, allowing myself to be vulnerable and fall in love, has always scared me.
