Kaylee
Laim answered the door on the first knock. He grabbed me around the waist and pulled me into the apartment, kicking the door shut behind me. His lips were on mine before I could even think about uttering a greeting. He stumbled backwards toward the bed, hands exploring under my shirt. We fell with an oomph, me on top of him.
"Well hello to you too," I said smiling down at him. "Miss me?"
"Fuck yeah I did."
He twisted his hand into my hair tugging at it as he smashed his mouth against mine. Ruff. Demanding.
I pulled back, slipping my shirt over my head. Right as I started to lean down, a flash of red lace caught my eye. I stopped, did a double take. "What the fuck is that?"
"What is it baby?" He asked. His hands splayed over my abdomen, reaching upward.
In one swift motion I was off the bed and striding over to the couch. There. Piece of shit.
Hooking my pinky around the lacey fabric, I walked back to the bed. "What's this?"
His expression said it all. "Baby look, I can explain."
I threw the panties on the end of the bed, crossing my arms over my still bare chest. I should have known. Better than to come here. Time and time again I'd told him if he slept with other chicks, we were done. Time and time again he proved that he couldn't keep it in his pants. We were the closest thing to a couple that I've ever had, maybe that's why I kept coming back. Or I was just fucking stupid.
"What's her name?"
Guilt washed over his moss green eyes. "Tera."
Shaking my head, I grabbed my shirt and turned for the door. "Call your slut over to satisfy you, I've got better place to be."
"C'mon baby, please stay--"
"Fuck you."
Mother fucker should have known better. Fuck, Ishould have known better. Shaking my head at my own stupidity, I slipped my shirt back on and exited the building. The cool night air sent a shiver down my spine. It was the beginning of summer, but the nights here had been freezing fucking cold since I can remember.
The streets were empty, just like my apartment would be if I went home. I didn't want to go back. It was too quiet there and the nahibours didn't like it when I blasted music any time after eleven p.m. Hell, they didn't like it period, but they put up more of a fight when when eleven rolled around.
Toni's place it is.
She never cared before when I would come over in the middle of the night and crash at her place. That was before she had a boyfriend. I wondered if she would care now. Would that make a difference?
Too late now.
I pushed open the door slowly, tip toeing into through the living room into the kitchen. I wasn't ready for bed yet, and a beer sounded pretty good right about now.
I flipped on the little light above the sink and kicked off my boots by the end of the island. Jeans. These jeans had to go. I took them off too, throwing them carelessly over one of the stools on the other side of the island.
Much better. Now for the beer.
Toni didn't drink at home, unless you considered wine alcohol, which I didn't. She drank the real shit when we went out to the club for some dancing or the occasional trip to the bar. All of the alcohol here was mine. The cabinet by the sink was entirely mine. Absolute vodka-- gotta have my breakfast,-- Jack daniels, Peach snaps for when I was feeling girlie-- Captain morgan for the cold nights when I wished this place was located on a tropical island. Damn, I never realized just how much alcohol I kept at her place, there was a shit ton.
Right now I just wanted my beer. It was the only alcohol I kept in the fridge. Toni didn't like it in plain view, so she made me keep it in the bottom, out of sight.
Bending over, I retrieved my beer and spun around, kicking the fridge door shut with my heel. I had the top off and the rim of the bottle half way to my lips when I realized I wasn't alone.
"Holy fuck, you scared the shit out of me!"
Toni's boyfriend stood only three feet away from me. He gave me a really look.
Frowning at the creepiness of this situation, I brought the beer to my lips. What was with him? Walking around late at night without making a sound. No one's that quiet, it's fucking unnatural. "What are you doing awake?"
"What are you doing here," he asked flatly, his eyes trailing over my legs for a brief two seconds. "And without pants?"
"I practically live here."
He gestured to the beer in my hand. "I didn't think Toni drank beer."
"She doesn't."
"Those yours then?"
"Yep." I propped my hip against the island, regarding him coolly. He really wasn't Toni's type, not at all. I was proud of my girl for going out of her comfort zone to take a walk on the wild side, I just hoped it wasn't too different for her.
"Mind if I have one?"
"Fuck yeah I do, you've gotta earn those."
He smirked. It reminded me of the look I usually gave Toni right before I did something she demanded I not do. Coming from me, I'm sure it was playful. Coming from him, it was hot as fuck.
He walked around me, opened the fridge, grabbed a beer and turned back around to stare me down. Without breaking eye contact, he removed the top and took a long drink from the bottle.
Heat spread throughout my stomach. The look he was giving me got me wet. Fuck. Fuckity fuck fuck.
"You're going to regret that." I said, my voice bordering somewhere between cold and breathy. I had to get out of here. It was too hot. The room felt too small.
I walked over to the back of the couch, throwing myself over the side. Not a drop of beer spilt, true talent. Shooting a quick glance over my shoulder, I noticed him still standing there, looking all dark and mysterious. Toni's boyfriend, I reminded myself as I reached for the remote. Dammit. It wasn't there. I scanned over the couch in the dim lighting, feeling around in the dips where Toni usually sat. The lazy shit never put the remote back on the table after a movie.
"Looking for this?"
How did he get that? He was holding the remote between two fingers like it was a hundred dollar bill.
Where was he going with this?
"Well, are you going to hand it over, or tease me like a prick?" I asked. This game was becoming annoying. I wanted to watch tv and I wanted to drink my beer. Preferably in peace.
"Tease, of course," he said throwing himself down on the cushion next to me. With his eyes on the tv, he turned it on and started flipping through Netflix. "I can't sleep and I'm not about to let you have control over the remote. No fucking way. We watch what I want to watch."
Fucking asshole.
"Okay eye candy."
