I wait for Alexander to lock the doors to his car so we can go inside. Todays the day I talk to his father. From the few encounters I've had with him, they haven't been the best. He looks just like Alexander, but older and angrier looking. When I look at his face, I'll just imagine I'm looking at a younger, sexy version of Alexander. God, did I just call my boyfriend's father sexy? I'm sick.
"You ready Quinn?" Alexander asks sticking his keys right in his jacket.
"No, not really."
"Oh, you'll be fine Quinn. I'll be right outside the room." He runs his fingers through my curls as he kissed my temple.
"That makes me feel better." I grab his hand in mine and we procced to go inside of Germani industries.
Walking in, I see a bunch of men and women in business suits talking to each other. What's so weird, and maybe creepy, about this company is that it looks like Christian Grey's building. I didn't mean to watch "Fifty Shades of Grey", Lyra brought it over and I was so bored I caved in. That movie gave a bad rap to the BDSM community.
We stand by the elevator waiting for it to come down to first floor. Alexander let's go of my hand; he rubs his on his blue jeans.
"What's wrong?" I ask with a worried tone. Does my hand smell?
"Your hand... it's excessively sweaty." Looking down at my palm, I see it glisten.
"Sorry." I whisper softly. The elevator finally opens up and we walk in. Sometimes when I'm extremely nervous I sweat profusely, like now. The last time this happened was on Alexander and It's first date. You can't blame me, it's my first time meeting someone I likes dad.
Quicker than I can say 'lets-turn-around', the doors open up. Every step I take my legs are literally dragging along. Heart beats wildly in my chest, and the air stiffens around me. We reach his father's office door, it says 'Alexander Germani Sr. CEO.'
Turning around I try to make a run for it, but Alexander holds me in my place. "I need to go." I plead.
"No you don't turn your butt around." He demanded.
"Really, my father may have forgotten his key and could be locked out of the house. It's rather cold today I wouldn't want him to die of hypothermia. Do you want to be the man responsible of an old man dying of hypothermia?" He just rolls his eyes and forcibly turns me to his father's door.
"Your grandfather has been around like 40 years before you were born. He'll be fine Quinn." He knocks on his door.
"Enter!" His father's voice booms.
"Good luck, lotus." I warm up from hearing him call me that name. The door opens up, he gives my butt a hard smack, and pushes me in. Mr. Germani looks at me with a quizzical expression, I regain my strength and stand tall. I'm trying not to look so, nervous and weak hopefully he doesn't smell the fear on me.
I heard that wolfs can smell fear, wait is his father even a wolf? I think older people can't shift at a certain point of age. Isn't he like 42 or something, wait how old is Alexander again? Wow I can't believe I don't know the age of my own boyfriend. Look at me drowning out, Quinn looks alive.
I can literally feel my heart beating out my chest, I mean literally.
"Quinneth? Is that it?" He asks me.
"Yeah...well Quinn, everyone calls me Quinn. You can call me Quinneth if you want, just- I'm going to stop talking now." I stop myself from rambling on and on.
He laughs at my rambling, at least I know he isn't some studious killer. "Come and sit down... Quinneth." I hastily walk over to the black leather chair and pop at squat.
His office is really nice. High ceilings, a beautiful view of San Francisco, near all the greatest food joints and his whole office is black. And I mean ALL black, not even a hint of color, unless you count the red ball pens.
"Where's Alexander?" He asked.
"He's waiting in the hallway." I point outside the door.
"Ok. It's nice to finally to meet you Quinneth." He holds his hand out for me to shake. I lean over his desk, our hands connect.
"You too, Mr. Germani." Once my hand let's go of his, it hits a cup of pens and they fall all over the marble floor. "Jesus, I'm so sorry, I don't know if Alexander told you, I'm sure he didn't but I'm clumsy." I start collecting all the ball pens in my hand, putting them back on his desk.
"He did actually, talks about you all the time. Well, to his mother I just listen in." My eyes lit up; he talks about me to his mother?
"That's so sweet" I coo.
"He's also told me, numerous times, that you were loyal and trustworthy." He observes me.
"Yes, I- I am." He gets up from his chair and walks over to where I am. Sitting on the edge of his desk, he stares at me intently.
"The welfare of my son will always be my most important priority. Making sure I teach him everything he needs to know and leaving him a safe, thriving pack."
"The welfare of Alexander is also- very important to me." I try to say in a serious tone.
"I'm aware it is, after all, you are his mate." Mate? Like soul-mates.
"Uh Mate?" He looks at me with a surprising look.
"He hasn't told you that you guys are mates?" I shake my head.
"We haven't had time to talk about everything yet." This will be the first thing I mention when we do talk. We were supposed to talk tonight by the waterfall, but instead I'll wait until tomorrow there are some questions I need to add to the list.
"I'll leave that up to him to tell you. I mostly wanted to talk to you and ensure you will keep our secret. This doesn't only jeopardize me and Alexander, but our pack and Kingdom."
"You guy have a Kingdom? Like castles and jesters."
"The castles, but not the jester part." That's being added onto the list also.
"I won't tell anyone, scouts honor." I hold up my fingers.
"That means nothing to me, swear on your life." I let out a chuckle, but he doesn't laugh along with me.
"Your serious?" His stoic face is the only answer I need. "Ok, I swear on my life. I can keep a secret Mr. Germani. For example, in the 3rd grade Jilly Jones had a crush on Austin Jenkins from class B. She didn't trust anyone else to tell the secret to, but trusted me. To this day I haven't told anyone the secret, I haven't even said it outload. Well- unitil now- I had to tell you so you can know how good I can keep a secret." He gives me the look of 'please-stop-rambling.' I need to work on that.
"I'll stop talking now."
"I second that. I want everyone to get to know you better, stop by the pack house and meet the rest of our people." Being in a room full of wolfs that can rip my head off makes me pretty nervous. I heard wolves have really big anger issues. What if I say or do something wrong and they like want to rip my arm off? "From your body language I can tell your nervous to come. They won't hurt you, especially with Alexander around."
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure, why not."
"Are you the Alpha of the pack." A surprised look fills his face.
"I am, how did you know?"
"Power and dominance radiate off of you. Also, I've been researching stuff on werewolves. Are you guys really allergic to wolfsbane?"
"That's a myth, and so is only shifting under the full moon." Duly noted. "If you don't have any more questions that will conclude our conversation."
"I think you've answered everything. I'll see you at the pack house." He gives me a smile and walks over to his desk.
As my hand rest firmly on the door handle, I turn around. "Mr. Germani?"
"Yes, Ms. Worthingshire?"
"This was a nice conversation. I had.... worries of coming here at first." I say hesitantly.
"Everyone thinks I'm mean because I'm the Alpha, but as you see that is false." I give him one last smile and walk into the hall to see Alexander sitting in a mahogany chair by the receptionist desk.
"How was it?" He asked sticking his hands in his pockets.
"Surprisingly perfect."
"That's nice to hear." He wraps his arm around my shoulder, we began walking to the elevator.
"Mhm... he invited to the pack house."
"Really?" The elevator opens up and we walk in.
"Yep."
"That's going be interesting." What's that supposed to mean?
The wind from my balcony doors blows throughout my room. I love this St. Helena air, it's so cool, the wind blows between my toes and curly locks. So refreshing.
For the past hour I've been painting. It's been a while since I've painted anything, with the whole Alexander thing and school there hasn't been enough time in the day. Originally, I was painting the moon and woods, but then it turned out to be a picture of Alexander, well in wolf form that is.
It's quite beautiful actually, I've only seen him in wolf form once, but I got it down pack. From his jet-black fur to piercing eyes, I can't wait for him to see it.
Damn it, I'm out of black paint. Getting up from my stool, I find that my butt is pretty numb. I've been planted in this seat for a very long time, once I get in the grove of it all It's hard to get out.
Grabbing the black paint from my lower cabinet I see the black lotus necklace laying on the ground. It's in the same position where I left it last time. The memories flood back in, it warned me of danger and a great evil. After that weird encounter with the necklace, I looked all around to see if the black lotus was a symbol for something, but nothing pulled up.
Speaking of my reading and researching, I've been devouring the new book I got from the library last week. It mostly talks about the causes and effects of the witch trial, no information to help me with the visions, but it's a nice read. I lay small strokes of paint on the wolfs back, god am I good or what?
While I paint, I hear small thuds against my balcony doors, what is that? Walking over, I see Alexander down below throwing small rocks. As I open the door, Alexander accidently throws one of the rocks at my head.
"OW!" I grumble.
"Sorry."
"What are you doing here?" I ask.
"The talk. Did you forget about it? Your always forgetting something." Oh, crap I forgot about that.
"Is it time already? I got so carried away. Also, it's not my fault I forget things it's perfectly normal. Give me a few minutes."
"Well hurry up." I turn back around and give him a dirty look.
"Don't rush me." He gives me a smirk.
"Don't not let me rush you." What the heck, sometimes I just think he say things without working it through.
"What a dummy." I whisper to myself.
"I heard that." He whispers. My eyes widen and I turn back to him, a smile dances on his face.
He's way below me the only way I would be able to hear him is if he yelled at me.
"How can I hear you?" I say in a soft voice.
"You didn't hear...you're a wolf." I roll my eyes.
"Don't joke with me." I say seriously.
"Fine, because of our bond we can hear each other even from miles away." The bond? Another question to add on the list.
"That's so cool." I say excitedly.
"I know." He replies back. "Now hurry your butt."
"Make me." I say lifting my brow. Walking back into my room I grab my shoes. While I'm putting them on, I hear a whoosh of air behind me. A wild haired Alexander is now in my room. I give him a scolding look.
"What! You said come up here."
"No, I said 'make me'. Maybe that bond listening thing is broken." I shrug while putting on my shoes. His eyes drift away from me to my unfinished masterpiece.
"What's this?" He asked looking at my painting. Damn it, I didn't want him to see it yet it isn't completed.
"You're not supposed to see that." I rush over and stand in front of the painting.
"Come on Quinn, I've already seen it. Also, you're like two feet tall I can see over you." He gently pulls me to his side, while he observes the painting.
I stare at his face trying to figure out what he's thinking. From what I can figure out he's intrigued. "Do you like it?" My voice wobbles.
"I... love it actually. You're really good Quinn." He kisses me on my forehead. I blush from his touch.
"It isn't finished yet; I want this to be perfect for you." He looks down at me.
"This is for me?" He sounds astonished. Does he not know this is him?
"It's you, Alexander. Well, you in wolf form. It was supposed to just be a picture of the moon and trees, but turned out to be you." His mouth forms an 'O' shape.
"Why didn't I put that together first, I don't know. Who knew you actually had talent?" I push him over slightly.
"Shut up!"
"Make me." He dares. I pull him by his shirt and put my lips on his. My tongue swirls in his mouth, tasting him. I feel him moan against mine, who's in control now? Letting go I see him looking at me, shocked by my boldness.
"Let's go I'm ready now." I say walking towards my door.
"Why are you going that way." I give him a weird look.
".... because its normally where I go to leave the house. What do you want me to do? Wolf jump out the window like you do?" I say sarcastically.
"We can if you want?" He walks to me slowly.
"Oh no." Before I can make any more objections, he slings me over his back. "Alexander put me down." I say squirming.
"Nope." He starts running towards my window and jumps out. I can feel the wind push against my face, in a matter of 5 seconds, were on the ground.
"AHHH OH MY FUCKING GOD!" I push myself off his back. "I could've- could've died or something you maniac." I try and catch my breath. He just laughs at me, sometimes I think he's evil.
"Your fine Quinn." He says patting me on the back.
"Yeah, for now. Sometimes I think you like spooking me."
"It's fun...for me at least." I give him a look of disgust.
"Why did you take us to the backyard anyways? Isn't your car out front."
"No, I ran here." He ran here? Doesn't he live like an hour out of St. Helena.
"You ran here. What the- how?"
"I'm a wolf, so the only way we are getting to the waterfall is if you hop on." He starts to take off his clothes.
"I am not riding on your back through the woods Alexander. Wouldn't I be....too heavy for you?"
"Quinn, you have hips you're not fat. It'll be fine." I watch him shift into his wolf, wow he's bigger than when I saw him last night. He nudges his head for me to hop on.
I do what he says and get on, I grip his fur so I don't fall off. "Please, don't go to fast I WILL fall off." I can feel him rolling his eyes.
"Don't you dare get sassy with me." I get comfortable on his back, his fur warms me up instantly. Perks of him being a wolf is that he warms up pretty fast.
Please god, keep me safe.
