Sawyer
This place was too quiet. I enjoyed it, but at the same time I hated it. Toni had left to attend class shortly after Kaylee made her exit. Now I was all by myself. Snooping. I guess a part of me was hoping that there was a side of Toni that I hadn't seen. A side that she didn't show many people. How else was she friends with someone so.. I didn't even have a word for Kaylee's behavior. She was a new word all by herself. How else was I suppose to make this work? At least, if there was something, if she'd been hiding a part of herself, maybe we stood a chance.
I'm not proud of myself for going through her things, but I also know I won't regret it.
There was a shit ton of pink in her bedroom. I don't think I've ever seen this much pink in one place. It was like being inside a six year old girls room. A girl who wanted to be a Princess and had tea parties with her stuffed animals.
Fucking creepy.
Maybe there'd be something interesting in her closet. Something sexy. I slid the doors open and took a step inside. More pink. Some white. Pastel colors. Nothing dark, nothing even remotely sexy. There was even a row of knitted Christmas sweaters.
Moving on.
I slid the doors closed, disappointment. There was a small dresser across from her bed, maybe I'd find something good in there. A diary, her panties, something to give me a little insight on the real Toni.
Underwear. Lots of it. And not the good kind. No lace, thongs, not even silk. Just cotton panties and nylon breifs.
This was a waste of time.
I took one last look around the room, having turned it upside down looking for a diary, a journal, something. There were lots of pictures, but even those portrayed her as the good girl. The same innocent doe eyed woman. In some of them she was at a club, or a bar with friends. Never dressed in anything sexy. Never with any bad boys, just the clean-cut, lawyer type.
Waste of time.
Talk dirty by Jason Derulo filled the silence. I dug my phone out of my pocket and pressed it to my ear. "Ciao?"
Translation: Hello
"Brother!" My friend Greg hollered through the phone. "Haven't heard from you in a while."
"Yeah," I kicked Toni's door shut and walked down the hall to the guest room. "Been busy moving into my girlfriend's place."
He made a sound of disgust. "Hey, listen, the gang and I are heading over to Orion's place. Play some games, catch up on the drama in each other's live, all that shit."
"I don't know.."
"Get your pussy whipped ass over here, your bro's miss you." He said firmly. "Hell, bring the chick if that's what it'll take."
Sighing, I looked at the boxes piled up in the room. I was going to unpack, but after hearing Greg's offer, it just sounded too damn pathetic. "Yeah, alright. But I can't stay too long. I've got a thing with my girlfriend and dad later tonight."
"Whateves."
"Dude, you sound like a chick when you say that."
He laughed so hard and loud I had to pull the speaker away from my ear. My phone hummed when he ended the call. He never did say goodbye, not in person, or over the phone.
I took a look at myself, black jeans, gray tennishoes and a white tshirt. If I was going to make it to the dinner, I wouldn't be able to be gone long. It was a formal event. There really wasn't any other kind when it came to my father or Toni's. All business.
Time's awasting. I grabbed my car keys, locked up behind me and drove to Orion's. The guys always met up at his place, his was the biggest and had the best gaming system. All of their cars were parked in the drive way and the door was unlocked. Arrogant fucker never did lock anything. Not his car, hell, not even his locker back in high school.
Shouts and gunfire echoed through the house. The noise was coming from the den. Only time we ever went anywhere else was if there was a party upstairs or we wanted food from the kitchen.
My friends were sitting around the black leather couch and bean bags. Along with some girls that occasionally hungout with us.
Fuck.
I was really hoping to keep this visit alcohol and female free.
"Sawyer!"
The only one of my friends who didn't have their eyes glued to the seventy two inch tv screen, jumped over the back of the couch. He nearly tripped as he ran to meet me, throwing both arms over my shoulders.
"It's good to see you Weston."
He kept one arm draped over my shoulders after he pulled away, leading me towards the couch. "How have you been brother?"
Shitty.
"Honestly?" I asked. "When I'm not with Toni, dads got me up to my eyeballs in work."
He took the corner seat, leaving me with no option but to sit between him and Penelope. Things were never weird between us after we broke up. We hooked up a few times after the breakup, strictly hookups.
She looked at me now, a flirty smile on her purple lips as she twirled a strand of her dirty blond hair. "Its been too long, Sawyer."
"Hey Penelope."
Fuck. This is awkward.
She was looking at me with those bedroom eyes, chewing on that lip ring.
Girlfriend. Girlfriend. I have a girlfriend. I tried to think of something about Toni that would take my mind off of that lip ring that was staring back at me. There was nothing. Not even the deal could shake off the beginning of my arousal.
A thought popped into my head. Kaylee this morning, wearing nothing but a black tshirt and black lace panties. The way she looked in the middle of the kitchen with a glass of vodka in her hand.
It was fucked up. I shouldn't be thinking about one bad girl just to take my mind off of another. Especially when said bad girl is my girlfriend's best friend. But it worked.
"How's the girlfriend?" I asked Weston. Out of everyone, he was the only one who had a relationship that lasted longer than two months. I wasn't even ashamed to say he was the best of us. Always worked hard to get good grades, was in college to become a doctor and had been in a relationship with the same girl since high school.
In some ways I looked up to him. Admired his ambition.
"Good, good," he smiled, clapping me on the shoulder. "One of these days you'll have to bring your woman over so we can meet her. I'll bring Hanna so she isn't alone."
"Hanna isn't the only female, y'know." Penelope said. She leaned close enough for me to smell her perfume. A mixture between lavender and berry, it smelt like.
Weston laughed, wiping a fake tear from the corner of his eye. "Excuse me. She wouldn't be alone with a bunch of bad bitches."
"You're an ass."
"And you're a slut."
Between work and dates with Toni, there hadn't been much time to see my friends. Nothing had changed. They were still the same group of guys, doing the same shit, having the same arguements. I didn't know whether I was happy to have that familiarity, or disappointment that nothing had changed.
Not even me.
