At the Pirate reservoir
Erik beheads a golden dragon. Right behind him his brother Ryan rips another dragon in half. An attacking Golden Dragon is then shot down from the two brothers' blind spot.
The attacker was Rainer. He stands beside Ryan asking him, "Hey where'd your sister run off to? We could use all the help we need about now..." Rainer is interrupted by Erik. With a scowl on his face, Erik tells Rainer, "Mind your tongue soldier boy. Running away from battle isn't something we do. She went off to stop the source of the golden dragons. Can't blame you for thinking about running when you've shown examples of being scared to finish your battles in the past."
This annoys Rainer. While locked in battle Rainer tells the Pirate King, "If you're still looking at me sparing the life of your brother's mother as running. I'll be happy to continue that battle any way you'd like after we're finished here..." Erik flashes a grin then says, "Ahh that tech virus has given you a backbone to go along with your powers I see!" Rainer says, "Did I not have a backbone when I defeated your father face to face for what he and his men did to our soldiers?" before King Erik can reply Bernard can be heard through all their comms like a roaring lion. Specifically talking to Rainer and Erik Bernard says, " HEEEEY!! In case you all forgot we have a fight in front of us! Do you want to protect these people or protect your ego!?"
Now slightly ashamed. Rainer replies, "Apologies sir..." Bernard Sullivan tells Rainer, "No need for that right now. Just focus. Now repeat the mission to me!"
Rainer Replies to Bernard saying, "Raise enough hell so the dragons will concentrate on us. And give Zachary enough time to put these citizens out of harm's way." Bernard grins with excitement and says, "Precisely! Now that I know we all have a clear understanding of who our enemy is at the moment. LETS RAISE HELL!! "
What happens next would later be described by Sullivan as a " beautiful symphony of violence." Through the help of his tech, his natural human capabilities, and the waters that allowed him to keep his youthful looks and skills. Bernard Sullivan unleashes a barrage of melee combinations too quickly for the eyes to count. From a distance, Cibor sees this as he patches up Sharon. Through Cibor's tech, he's told the amount of blows Bernard had executed in a mere 6 seconds. Cibor says to himself, "My god! That was 120 strikes!"
Throwing 120 strikes against a squad of droids in such a precise, quick, and powerful way causes Sullivan's armor on his fists to crack and shut off. However, this doesn't phase the old hero. He looks at a pile of fallen dragons and relieves a few of the broken droids of their blades.
With a flick of the switch on both weapons, Bernard Sullivan charges back into battle. Right behind Bernard, Rainer shoots off powerful electric bolts that shoot like beams from his hands and give a violent embrace towards the enemy droids causing them to short circuit, cutting their power supply off.
Rainer then sends a bolt of electricity toward the walls of the reservoir. He pulls a giant metal plate off the walls pulling it towards him. Rainer jumps atop the plate as it heads toward him, and rides it like a like log drifting down the river. Then he stops above his fallen enemies.
Below the droids begin to show signs of them rebooting their systems. However, the reboot is a little too late. Rainer drops the large metal plate above the golden droids crushing them from the skies. The thudding boom alerts the other dragons once the plate hits the ground.
Rainer notices a new group of dragons headed his way. Luckily for him, Maxwell Caine flies in from above. Max piolets his Ivo Supremeo suit, but with a noticeable attachment to the back. Rainer notices this and asks him through comms, "Hey what's that thing you're carrying around?" Max says, "It's a thing my sister has been cooking up. She had some fancy name to it. I just call it my jetpack, but this is the army knife of jet packs! Speaking of that. You dropping that plate on those dragons earlier gave me a great idea! Check this out!" With curiosity in the tone of his voice, Rainer replies saying, "Ha! Okay."
As Rainer looks to the skies he sees Maxwell ready to meet the incoming droids. Then to his surprise, he witnesses Maxwell shoot off his jetpack. It knocks the first wave of dragons back like bowling pins, even cleaving a handful of the droid's heads clean off their bodies. The attack wasn't finished yet. The jet pack continues to glide through the air, but this time it's directed downward towards another wave of dragons. Then back up knocking back and slicing through more of the enemy droids.
With a shocked look on his face, Rainer sees Maxwell volleying his jetpack back and forth on and through the enemy, while simultaneously throwing energy blasts at attacking dragons. Who try and blindside him from his peripherals. As Rainer sees this. So do the rest of the enemy droids.
The Dragons begin to ignore the minor targets and head toward the bigger threat. Both Erik and Ryan notice this. Bernard notifies Rainer who then tells Maxwell. All 4 gather around each other forming a circle. One by one they shoot off their enemies. But also at the same time, the enemy draws in closer. This was their plan.
As the enemies turn their backs on their original targets, Zachary has moved the last few innocent civilians out of harm's way. He turns to the enemies while they approach Zach's 4 allies and launches himself towards his companions. With the advanced powers of his new suit, he makes it in front of his friends before the enemies do. Then Zach unleashes a powerful attack beam through a weapon on his armored suit's chest plate. Now all the 5 heroes at the battle at the pirate reservoir stand strong side by with each other, guarding each other's blindsides.
Maxwell asks Zach, "Is that A sun Crystal!?"
He replies, "Something like that. It's a man-made version. Similar to Supremeo's original power source. You know? The one that War Hawk took from him." Maxwell, with a surprised look says, "Really? I thought there were only the 3 original ones. There was a 4th?!"
Zach Tells Maxwell, "Yes those are the perfected man-made stones. This sole one is a prototype. Its attacking output is slightly weaker than the purple crystal, and nowhere near the white ones Supremeo has. But it gets the job done. The bad part is its overall energy is laughable compared to both. So don't expect that same attack again. Because the signals are saying I've only got a few of those shots left until this entire suit will be tapped out of its main energy source. The stone can charge with solar energy, but the sun is on its way down as you can see!"
Then Rainer interrupt their conversation telling them, "Hey in case you forgot. I've got a variant of the machine virus coursing through my veins, and that variant makes me a walking battery. I don't need a sunstone, Sun crystal, or battery for a source of power." Then Rainer says with a grin on his face, "I AM THE POWER!" he continues to say, "I just fought off 500 of these so-called warrior droids with just me and my armor. I'm willing to engage 500 more because of the virus within me. I'm sure with my electrical tether ability, the energy I'd give won't affect how I'm fighting in this battle."
Zach says, "Well then let's give this a go!" Zach lets off another attack beam successfully mowing down another row of dragons. Then another, and another. He turns to Rainer to tell him to give the prototype stone a charge. But before he can utter a word Rainer tells Zach, "Don't worry about telling me when you need a charge up. Once my tether attaches to what I want to charge up I'll know! And instantly give you the energy." Zach says with a smirk, "Awesome!" Then continues to focus on the battle.
Minutes pass as wave after wave of dragons attempt and fail at taking down their enemy. Then the tides turn. Unfortunately, it wasn't the tides turning to aid Zach and his 4 companions.
Besides Rainer and Bernard, who have enhanced capabilities to aid them other than their armor, and weapons. Zach, the two Pirate brothers, and Maxwell are regular fighting-aged humans underneath it all. This begins to show at the most dangerous time of their battle. Erik slams a sword against the chest plate of a golden dragon. Only for the sword to stop short of cleaving it in half. Erik lets go of the hilt of his blade due to his body showing signs of wearing down. The pain starts at Erik's wrist, then his forearm, and moves up to his shoulder. Then to his back.
The pain causes Erik to drop on one knee. The Golden dragon sees this, then it draws its own blade. It raises the blade to strike King Erik. Erik reaches for a gun in a compartment on his ankle. Luckily for him, The Enemy droid is struck by another zhekumium blade which appears to be thrown with such immense force, that the blade takes the enemy droid's head clean off.
Erik looks towards the direction the blade came from and sees Bernard Sullivan looking back at him. He tells Erik, "Forget your blade and use theirs, son. The armor plate material these droids are made of is almost unbreakable. The only thing that can break these pests apart for now seems to be the blades they carry made from that same material. It cuts through them like butter! Less effort means less exertion. And the only reason why I'm saying for now is it seems like the sharp ends are lined with a type of synthetic inekium. I knew I smelt a familiar scent on them! It might be the wrong time to wonder about matchups in fights, but I can't wait to see how Supremeo deals with these guys!"
Erik walks over and picks up the zhekumium sword Bernard threw and takes the fallen dragon's sword as well. Erik tosses the thrown sword back to Bernard Sullivan and then tells him, "Thanks for the save legend. It is a privilege to watch you in battle."
Bernard smirks then says, "Your words are very much appreciated, son. Just don't get too caught up in watching the fight. We need you to participate also. Guys like me still need able-bodied warriors like you and your brother to see this mission though." King Erik grips the hilt of his new blade and gets into an offensive stance. He takes a moment to catch his breath, as they look on to the next wave of approaching enemy droids Erik tells Bernard, "No problem...Heh...It's been a while since I took orders from anyone on the battlefield. If only Dominic and the rest of my crew could see me now. I gotta tell the guys the legend of Bernard Sullivan truly measures up to the tales."
Erik Grits his teeth and charges back into the fray with the legendary hero Bernard Sullivan by his side.
Minutes pass as the 5 exhaust their human capabilities along with the capabilities of their tech. Rainer and Zachary's armor shows signs of a few scratches. While Erik is reduced to just using his blades, while Maxwell and Bernard are taking on the largest portion of the enemy attackers.
But as time continues to pass the numbers against the 5 add up. Bernard's armor begins to take more damage. This exhausts the capabilities of the tech in his armor further, until the armor reaches a complete depletion.
Bernard is just reduced to his melee attacks with the remaining pieces of his armor as protection.
This does not make Bernard's intensity waver. Instead, he pushes along. From the corners of his 4 companion's eyes, it appears the legendary hero's technique has sharpened to the next level due to his supplies being exhausted. Then out of nowhere, perhaps a misstep in his choice of attacks. Bernard is compromised. He reaches for a droid and puts it in a headlock. Rams a blade through its chest. Shields himself with the droid from another attacking enemy. Then kicks another golden dragon who tried to surprise the legendary hero from his blind spot. Then Bernard is Stabbed in the gut by an armored spike from the droid caught in his headlock. The droid's elbow-padded armor has a spike on the end of it. This moment stuns Bernard enough to give the enemy a few more blows to land on the hero.
This breaks the attacking formation of the 4 companions as they try and save Bernard. But to their surprise, he breaks through the attacking droids. And says, "DO NOT BREAK FORMATION!" then curses himself for not instantly landing the killing blow on the droid he used as a shield. Luckily for the 5, the armored spike didn't push through enough to completely stop Bernard's momentum.
As the mayhem continues, doubt begins to fill Erik's mind. Then to his disbelief, he sees the crowd slowly breaking. A moment later clear views of the reason why, started to show.
From behind the golden dragons. The citizens of the reservoir have returned. This time equipped with their high-tech armor and weapons.
Tales of the pirate reservoir citizens were ones of capable warriors, but they were also the backup wave of King Erik's head troops. The first wave which is led by Dominic has never failed a heist or mission. While the fighting population of the reservoir has been called lazy and uninspired.
However, on this day those words were far from the truth. Seeing the invasion firsthand these citizens brought the reality of fear in these people, but with their interest in combat. These citizens were also witnesses to Bernard Sullivan's unwavering spirit.
With a renewed vigor in Erik's spirit he gets a second wind, and from opposite ends of the attacking invaders swarm they get taken down one by one. Until the reservoir populations warriors gather side by side with the 5.
More time passes and the final dragons gets taken down. A citizen walks toward Erik and says, "Sir I believe that was the last of them." The Pirate King replies, "You troops did good. Make sure everyone knows I'm thankful for their aid. We didn't think their numbers were this large." The citizen replies, "The thank you's are unneeded sir. We were ambushed without our armor, but we foolishly stepped outside unarmed in the first place. And in our foolishness old man Oliver lost his life. I only hope Gideon can forgive us."
King Erik tells the citizen, "It wasn't you or anyone else here who struck down his father or your other fellow citizens. Gideon will understand. The intricacies of a battle are a tangled web of events especially when an invasion is involved."
The citizen replies to the King, "I'll tell you what also helped. It was seeing that familiar mustached fellow take on these invaders. His noticeable shattered armor was gliding everywhere in battle. Taking on all the foes who stepped up. Is that who I think it is?"
King Erik tells the citizen, "Yeah. That's the legendary Bernard Sullivan. The stories of his unwavering spirit in battle were not exaggerated at all. He was my brother's favorite warrior of the past to read about. And my father's as well. My father would tell us that Sullivan had a way of inspiring people around him. He'd say, " He was an army of one that could raise an army of 100 if he was leading the charge. "
King Erik and the citizen look toward Bernard as they see him catch a breath for a moment. Sullivan throws the zhekumium blades down. And drops right next to the blades and proceeds to clean dirt off his face.
The citizen looks toward another direction and looks to Rainer Sparta. He tells the pirate King, "Speaking of individuals we respect. What about the ones we don't? How was he allowed passage through here?"
Erik responds by saying, "Yeah...That's kind of a long story. We can address it now though." Erik and the citizen walk to Rainer.
King Erik draws his blade and places it to Rainer's throat then with a stern look on his face. He tells Rainer, "Time to answer for your sins."
Rainer replies, "Very well." he stands up slowly and continues to tell the pirate King, "I guess you had enough rest time huh?
