“Will!” Suki cried, shooting up from the bed.
“I’m right here.” I turned from the desk I was standing at and gazed over at her. “Are you alright?”
She breathed shakily before nodding, and she looked around nervously before she realized she was in the motel room.
She just rubbed her eyes lazily and yawned, gazing over at me seconds later.
I just stepped over to her. “Are you alright?”
“Yes.” Her voice was quiet.
I stopped at her bedside.
She just pulled the covers off herself and slipped her legs off the bed.
“No,” I said then, pushing her back down onto the bed, “it is three in the morning. You need sleep. Go back to sleep.”
“I’m not tired.”
“I don’t care.”
“But I woke up!”
“You can still go back to sleep,” I said.
“It’s not that early!”
“Honey, you went to bed at one. Two hours of sleep is not enough, okay?”
“It’s still morning!”
“Congratulations on recognizing the time of day,” I said then, lashes lowering. “Go back to sleep.”
“I want to get up.”
“Too bad, ‘cause you’re not.”
“But I want to!”
“I know,” I said then, pulling the covers over her. “Good night.”
She just angrily grumbled, kicking the covers off herself.
I spared her an annoyed look. “Really?”
“I have to use the bathroom.” She slipped off the bed.
I stared after her. “You have two minutes.”
She slipped me the middle finger.
I just smiled.
Almost exactly two minutes later, she came out of the bathroom looking much calmer than before, and I watched as she slipped in bed and gazed over at me.
“You do anything I say, right?” she said gently.
My eyes glowed slightly. “That is the contract, yes.”
“Then snuggle with me,” she ordered, “every night.” Her cheeks shaded a light red then. “I want to wake up next to you in the morning.”
I blinked, staring at her in shock.
But a wide smile spread across my face, and my lashes lowered. “As you wish, my princess.”
I stepped over to the bed then, pulling the covers back as her eyes glistened.
When I slipped in, she snuggled with my chest and wrapped her arms around me.
I lightly brushed my fingers through her hair. “I thought you refused to trust me because I’m going to kill you.”
“I don’t care,” her voice was soft, gentle. “You’re warm.”
I smiled then, eyes glowing a bright red.
“I’ll sleep now,” she said then. “Like you wanted.”
“Good night, Angel,” I said then, lightly setting my lips to the top of her head.
And seconds later, she was asleep, leaving me alone and staring at the ceiling.
She was going to be the death of me, I swear. All my senses were chaotic, holding her like this.
But… I had to do what she said. I had to stay until she woke up.
I just shuffled toward her and turned to my side, lightly pulling her off me so we were both on our sides, and she was facing me, still sound asleep.
I adjusted the shirt she wore back down so her underwear was hidden, and I gazed back up at her as her breaths softened, and her fingers twitched.
I couldn’t help myself, I lightly caught her hand and twined our fingers together, and she moaned slightly in annoyance.
“You’re okay,” I said gently, running my fingers along her knuckles. “I’ll protect you. You have nothing to fear, alright?”
I just leaned down to kiss her knuckles. “The only one you fear shall be me.”
