I stood in the darkness of a room, feeling my eyes glow in the darkness as I waited patiently.
After a couple minutes, the knob on the front door rattled, and I glanced at the door beside me as it opened and closed behind me.
Before the figure could step forward, Suki flipped on the lights.
The figure gasped, crying out.
I just smirked and my eyes flashed red, and some fabric ripped from the curtains, wrapping around her in a millisecond.
She was then slammed to the front door, unable to move.
Suki stepped out from the couch and regarded her. “Hello, boss.”
I smiled sharply as the girl gazed up, brows drawing together. “Suki? What’s happening? WHY ARE YOU IN MY HOUSE?”
I walked out from the wall, smirking. “Your act was very well, indeed, Miss Veronica. I would’ve never suspected you.”
“You’ve been a CEO at my company for about a decade,” Suki stated, “but no one knew you were secretly running a side business.”
She just glanced at both of us. “What… are you going ON ABOUT?”
I tipped my head to the side. “You can drop your act. There’s no point of keeping it up, Veronica.”
She gazed over at me in question.
“We did our research,” Suki stated. “We both know that you’re the leader of the Italian mafia.”
She stared for a moment, but then her surprised expression masked with a bored one. “How did you know?”
“Well, your past record was clean,” Suki stated boldly. “No arrests, nothing of the sort. So, I had to dive deeper. Who was your family? Why were they miraculously out of the equation? And as I dove deeper, I realized that this CEO persona was entirely fake. Everything screamed fake. Your name, your family, your story. You are a significant liar, indeed.”
Veronica just gazed over at Will. “How are you doing this? Let me go.”
I just winked and smirked. “My lady was talking.”
She just glared.
“So,” Suki stated then, lashes lowering, “why did you kill my sister?”
Veronica stared for a moment before she smirked, and then she started laughing. “Oh, my… you’re still on about that? That’s so entertaining, indeed. I had no idea you were so attached to her.” She gazed up then, smirking. “All the more reason I did it.”
Suki gritted her teeth, breathing uneasily.
“How did you know it was me?” she said then.
“My lady found a string from a ribbon in one of the crime scene photos; one that matches the color of that bow in your hair. She also had a sample of the sting and determined its fabric type and structure the same as yours. She also knew very well that the bow is fraying after years of wearing it… so it was natural that it fell at the crime scene.” I then smirked. “You should learn to clean up better.”
Veronica glared at both of us. “Seriously? You’re basing all your knowledge off a simple thread?”
“One must determine the answer from nothing,” I answered swiftly. “You of all people, should know that.”
She just sent me a look, and then snapped her gaze back to Suki. “So, what? You’re going to take me to the police? Rat me out?”
Suki gazed up then, a wide smile spreading across her face. “No. You deserve worse.”
Veronica just blinked uneasily, breath shaking. “Uh… what?”
“Can I kill her now?” I asked Suki.
She put up a finger. “I want answers first.”
I then backed off, stepping to the side as I closed my eyes. “As you wish.”
Suki stepped forward then. “Why did you kill my sister?”
Veronica just smiled. “It was punishment, for your father.”
“Punishment?” she echoed. “Why?”
“He refused to pay me what he owed despite all the money he had snagging away. I thought I ought to teach him a lesson. All those drugs he got from me were not cheap in the slightest.”
Suki gritted her teeth, breath shaking.
“Your mother intervened first,” Veronica said, snickering. “She thought she had the balls to stop me. So I took my favorite knife and slit her throat. There was so much blood,” she said in a dark tone, “you ought to have seen it.”
Suki stiffened, but my lashes just lowered.
She was trying to get into Suki’s head.
I glanced over.
But I wouldn’t intervene yet.
“Because I wasn’t really satisfied with the bloody body, I thought it would be better if she was hanging from the ceiling by her throat. A nice human chandelier.”
Suki clenched her fists, trying to remain calm but she was turning green.
I could see the memories flashing through her sight. Her mother hanging from the ceiling, her sister on the ground with those lifeless eyes… the blood… the gore.
“And… of course, your sister was next,” Veronica said then, smirking. “She was so small… the little thing. Although, that didn’t stop me. I slashed her skin and made her scream… she was begging for mercy, you know. She even called your name… she begged and begged for me to stop, but I wasn’t finished until I skinned her alive.”
Suki suddenly lurched forward, holding her hand over her mouth as vomit flew past her fingertips, splashing onto the floors.
“Oh, poor thing,” Veronica said. “Can you not handle the answer to your own question?”
She just breathed uneasily, clenching her stomach as my lashes lowered.
“I took you and tortured you for years, don’t you remember?” Veronica stated. “Well… one of my men did. And then after that I played you like a puppet with strings, acting like the boss of your company. I sent many people after to. I wanted you dead, too. It would’ve been my ultimate finale toward everything I’d done. But the men just kept vanishing all together. So depressing.”
Suki covered her mouth again, face paling more, somehow.
I finally got fed up and stepped over to her, kneeling by her side as she tried to breathe.
“Awww, boyfriend to the rescue?” Veronica said then.
“Suki,” I whispered as Veronica taunted us in the background. “Angel, look at me.”
She raised her gaze hesitantly.
I just pulled her up and caught her hand and arm, swirling us around like we were dancing.
I stopped after a moment, and her dress wrapped around her at the action.
“There’s nothing to fear anymore,” I promised her. “Look at me.”
She gazed up, breath shaking.
I ran my finger along her lip, lashes lowering. “You don’t have to be afraid anymore,” I said again. “You had nothing to fear the moment you signed with me, don’t you remember? I will protect you like I always do.”
She just closed her eyes tightly, catching her breath.
“Remember what I said?” I asked her. “If you’re ever afraid, call my name.”
She gazed up then, tipping her chin up to face me. “W… W….”
“Come on, say it.” I smiled.
“W… Will.”
My lashes lowered as my eyes glowed a slight red.
“Will,” she said again, choking the words, “Will. Will!”
“What would you like me to do?” I asked her.
She shot up then, expression hardening. “I WANT HER TO DIE! KILL HER!”
My eyes glowed a bright red, and I smiled darkly when my head shot up.
Veronica’s head suddenly exploded, the room spraying with her blood.
I felt drops of red splatter on my face, but I just covered Suki’s form to prevent her from getting drenched.
When I gazed back down at Suki, Veronica’s headless body clattered to the ground.
I just smiled, scooping her up as she buried her face in my neck.
And I carried her home.
