I stared in the mirror of my bathroom as I brushed my teeth, watching my cheeks as they remained flooded with red.
After tonight’s... events... I decided to go home.
It was warm here, and I had some sushi for dinner.
My favorite.
I narrowed my eyes at the mirror, determined to rid of the grime in my teeth, so I brushed harder.
I hated brushing.
I hated it.
But I hated the aftertaste of coffee in my mouth more.
I... may or may not have drunken caffeinated coffee an hour ago. If you’re wondering if I sleep, the answer is... no.
Not entirely.
I work, then I go home late, then I drink coffee while eating dinner, then I brush and get ready for bed... and then I do everything.
Exercise, walking at the park, dancing, drawing, writing, I could do everything! All at night, too. Sleep was for losers.
I may or may not be human, I didn’t know.
I spit out my toothpaste and stared in the mirror again, finding my cheeks still shaded pink.
I pointed to my reflection. “Stop it.”
They glowed brighter.
I glared. “That is the exact opposite of stopping it.”
They glowed brighter.
“I will conceal you!” I warned.
They remained red.
I groaned in annoyance, pulling my night hoodie more over myself as I stepped in my room.
And I flopped belly-down on my bed... the one that was covered in teddy bears and bunny plushies.
I buried my face in my pillow, kicking up my legs and dropping then back down.
Will...
Will asked me out today. He did it in a very... weird manner though. It wasn’t cheesy; it was straight forward.
I liked straight-forward men.
After five minutes of me staring at Will, and him asking if I was okay, I shot up and said, “Yes!”
He seemed to calm then, and he smiled.
I never see him smile.
He asked me out on a date tomorrow, and we parted ways and went home.
And then I ate my sushi.
Hehe, I loved sushi.
I just sat up on my bed, narrowing my eyes at my favorite teddy bear; the one that I always did staring contests with.
I then watched him, starting the game.
His dark expression remained the same, and I could tell he was challenging me.
I kept my eyes on him despite the dryness spreading through my cornea.
But then my eyes watered, and I blinked.
I threw my fists down on my bed. “You won again!” I then glared down at him. “I will get you one time, Senior Squash.”
I then hopped onto my feet and stepped over to my TV, giggling. “I am so alone.”
I then flipped the TV on and sat down on my bed, kicking out my legs as I stared at the screen.
“On the news today,” it said as I continued kicking out my legs, “the man who murdered a child after a hit-and-run has been arrested, and he has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and sentenced to ten years in jail.”
I waved my hands happily. “Yay!”
“The robbery of many blood donation stands seems to continue rising in this town,” my lashes fluttered open, “the person of interest has yet to be found and police will update us later later in the investigation.”
I parted my lips and tipped my head to the side.
Someone’s been stealing blood?
“Chandler’s has now expanded to Colorado!” she said then, making my lashes lower. “Join us for a new and improved California cosine on July fourth.”
“Ugh,” I said, picking up the remote. “Boring. Where’s the murder?” I then flipped the channel and cast the bunny plushie a look. She stared at me with those wide, beady eyes. “I was joking,” I told her. “I’m joking, I swear.”
I then gazed back up, narrowing my eyes. “Wow... I’m very alone, aren’t I?”
But I just sighed and turned off the TV, dropping back down on my bed.
“I guess... it’s time I sleep, huh?”
So I closed my eyes, not even bothering to turn off the lights.
