Twenty Minutes Ago
I started to Suki’s door, and immediately stopped when a smile spread across my face. “Don’t do something drastic, will you? I have many preparations to make, and I don’t feel like running after you tonight.”
She remained silent, but I could hear her breaths shake.
I just stepped out the door without another word, letting her decide if she was going to be a bad girl or not.
About two minutes later, I stepped back up the stairs with a broom in hand, whistling an off-key tune of Mary Had a Little Lamb and started dusting the hallway.
She had dirty shoes on and didn’t take them off when she went upstairs.
Careless, aren’t you?
But I suddenly gazed up at the door at the end of the hallway, watching the moonlight outside beam through the window.
I smiled then, eyes glowing a bright red when my lashes lowered. “Bad girl.”
And I vanished, letting the broom drop onto the ground below me.
I reappeared outside, dusting off my sleeves from the impact of the movement, and I gazed over to find the leaves of a tree a street in front of me rustling. A figure dropped onto the ground, dashing into the streets ahead.
“Ten bucks says I know where she’s going,” I said then, smiling.
And I vanished again, reappearing two streets down.
It was silent here, almost peaceful, kind of.
I smiled and listened to the crickets.
Ah, hell was not the most glorious place. Earth was nice, I’d love to live here more often if possible.
“Ah, where is she now?” I said then, looking around. “She’s slow, huh?”
But a sudden force slammed into my side, and I stumbled backward a little, glancing down.
A girl caught her steps and held her hands to her chest, bowing slightly. “Sorry. I’m in a rush.”
And she ran forward, continuing down the streets.
I glanced back at her, smile widening as my eyes glowed, once more. “Found her.”
