“What are we doing again?” I said, annoyed as Will walked next to me down the street.
“I thought it’d be nice to get you some clothes, no?” he said then, gazing down at me with a small smirk. “All your clothes are so last year.”
“Excuse me.”
“Not for you to worry, though,” he added, gazing back up at the direction we walked in. “I have a perfect style in mind.”
“It better not be anything explicit,” I said then, lashes lowering. “If it is, I’m not wearing it.”
“Oh, no,” he said then, smiling down at me, “far from it.”
I watched him suspiciously for a moment before gazing further out into the distance. “Whatever.”
He smiled in satisfaction as we continued walking.
“Oh, hey! You, there!” someone called from ahead, making both Will and I gaze up curiously.
A tall, broad man stepped up, smiling kindly. “Good day to you, madam! And you, sir! I was wondering if you’d like to try a product of mine.”
Will remained silent.
“A product?” I said then. “What kind?”
“A medication, ma’am!” he said then, blinking. “Oh! Might I introduce myself? I am Vincent Carmen. CEO of the Pharma Psych Pharmacy. We’ve developed a new drug that helps with anxiety and depression and are working on sending it over counters! You just look so grim, so I thought it might suit you, ma’am.”
I glared, growling in annoyance under my breath.
Will just chuckled a little. “I apologize, good sir, but my mistress is in no need for such drugs. She has me to keep her company. And also… she’s allergic to human emotion, so better not give her any.”
I gave him an annoyed look, but he just sent me an amused one.
“Oh, I see.” He said then, nodding. “I appreciate you two letting me lecture you for so long. Have a nice day!”
He then skipped off.
I started walking again, and Will followed behind me.
I glanced back briefly to find his eyes trained on the man as he skipped off, and they were glowing a bright red.
“Is something the matter?” I said then.
He gazed down at me, still smiling. “No, nothing at all, madam.”
“You’re staring at him as if he’s about to explode into confetti.”
“He’s just an odd figure, is all,” Will explained to me.
I just stared back forward. “I suppose your suspicion of him is warranted. What kind of CEO goes about marketing a drug on a street? Especially knowing he stood there on his phone and came specifically to me once we rounded the corner. Very odd, isn’t it, William?”
“Indeed,” he answered kindly, “for that is the reason he makes me curious.”
About five minutes later, we entered the clothing shop.
I arched my brows, glancing around nervously. “Why here of all places? It looks all deserted. Where the hell is the cashier?”
Will just circled around me and stepped over to the first rack. “I think this place suits your style.”
He suddenly glanced outside the window before his lips curled further, and his attention went back to the rack.
I gave him an annoyed look when he pulled out a long, frilly dress. “My style? What kind of girl goes around wearing anime attire?”
He gazed down at my outfit, and I looked down to find my familiar school-girl attire on; the plaid skirt with ruffles, blazer, long socks, as well as my button up shirt with a red tie.
I looked back at him, glaring. “That’s beside the point.”
He just smiled and started shuffling through the rack again. “I think you might like some of these things.”
“Whatever,” I said then, sitting on a small couch beside the dressing room, “just pick anything but a maid dress. Anything but that.”
“Awh, you just made this less fun,” he said, still smirking.
“Say that without smiling and I might believe you.”
He pulled out another dress, though this one was a dark blue with ruffles along the ends of a layered skirt. “My, this one is a very beautiful sight, isn’t it? And it’s your color… blue.”
“My color?” I echoed.
He chuckled. “Indeed. Judging by your specific skin tone, I’d say you’d look good in blue, green, and pink.”
“Those colors are not related at all.”
He just pulled out a couple more dresses. “I think you’ll look dashing in them, madam. I assure you.”
I rolled my eyes. “Whatever.”
I then pulled out my phone and swiped the screen, looking down at my notifications. “Ah. Looks like there’s a car accident near here. It’s all over the news.”
“How depressing,” Will said then, “someone’s dying and I’m not the one causing it.”
I just looked back at him. “You’ve killed plenty.”
“Sometimes I fear it’s not enough,” he said then, sighing.
I watched curiously as he pulled out another dress.
“Madam,” he said then, looking over at me, “do you care as to tell me the reasoning of why that CEO man makes your uneasy?”
I gave him a look. “Uneasy? Don’t make me laugh.”
Will just watched me, lashes lowering.
I just rolled my eyes. “He was one of my father’s people. He always bothers me. That’s all.”
“I see,” Will said then, still scanning the racks, “so he’s another puppy dog following you around? Begging for money?”
“I guess.”
“One thing I don’t understand is why they’re hunting you for money when you have none,” Will said then, smiling a little as he pulled another set of clothing off the rack. “Or was that a lie, too?”
I glared slightly at him. “You dare question me and my honesty?”
He glanced back. “My, I wouldn’t dare to, no. I’m merely curious about their motives is all.”
I watched him for a moment before I made an impatient sound, and I gazed back into the distance. “My father left me an inheritance, yes.”
Will smiled then, clearly expecting that answer. “If they’re after that inheritance, it seems as if it’s a large amount of money, isn’t it?”
“It is,” I said then.
“Then why did your family go broke?” Will asked me.
“My mom thought we did, but my dad was hiding this money from her.”
“May I ask why?”
I looked over at him. “I don’t know.”
Will pulled another clothing off the rack. “I see.” He draped it over his arm. “So if you have so much money, why buy a cheap apartment and get an office job?”
“Why are you barding me with questions?” I demanded then.
“I’m merely curious, is all,” Will stated then.
I just growled under my breath and looked away. “I don’t want to touch the money.”
“Why?”
“Because it won’t end well,” I said then, crossing my arms over my chest, “if I leave it untouched, I’m less likely to die. If I touch it and spend it, then when and if I get kidnapped, then I’d be more likely to die.”
“My,” Will said then, still smiling, “if you fear death so much, why sign with me?”
“I don’t fear death,” I said then, slightly disgusted at his comment. “I just won’t allow myself to die until I get my revenge.”
He chuckled a little, clearing his throat.
“Does something amuse you?” I snapped.
“Nothing at all, madam,” Will said then, pulling off another from the clothing rack. “It’s just your intentions and expectations for life baffle me. You’re human but not like them, in a sense. Which is interesting, at the very least.”
I just made an impatient sound and stared off into the store.
“May I ask where this money came from?” Will said then. “How did your father earn so much money?”
I was silent for a moment. “He owned several businesses.”
“My, my… your mother never knew?”
“No,” I said then, lashes lowering, “she thought my dad’s businesses went bankrupt after we went broke. My dad was a significant liar.”
“I can see as much,” Will said then, padding off the last dress.
He then stepped over to me and draped them over the back of the sofa. “Excuse me for one moment, my lady. It seems as if I have something to take care of temporarily.”
I just arched a brow.
He turned and stepped back over to the rack before his eyes flashed red, and he tore his hands toward the center of the rack before tugging them out.
I blinked when a girl-like scream came from the clothes until Will held a large figure by the back of its shirt.
I stared for a moment.
The CEO? What was he doing here?
“It seems as if he was following us ever since our encounter, my lady,” Will said then, gazing up at the old man as he shook against his grip. “Shall I dispose of him?”
I just sighed and sat up further. “Not yet. Set him down.”
Will gently set the man on his feet, smiling sharply as his eyes glowed a bright red. “Try to run and I’ll tear my teeth through your neck, understand?”
He whimpered and nodded quickly.
“What are you doing here?” I said more out of boredom, setting my cheek in my hand. “Why are you following me?”
The CEO’s breath shuttered. “I was just… I was just keeping an eye on you is all. As per your father’s wishes.”
I arched a brow. “My father’s wishes?”
“Y—yes,” he said shakily, gazing up at Will before looking back at me. “Before he died… he thought you needed a protector.”
I glanced up at Will, and Will’s red eyes focused on me.
I then thought the words, Is he lying?
Will’s smile just widened.
I then gazed back down at the man. “Fine. Dispose of him.”
The CEO just stammered, gazing up and backing away from Will. “W—what? Why? No! No!”
He then turned to bolt.
But Will appeared in front of the doorway, making him scramble to a stop.
“Shhh…” Will said then, eyes glowing a dark red, “someone will hear you, and we can’t have that, can we?”
The CEO’s breath shuttered. “You are… demon. DEMON.”
Will just chuckled. “Yes, a demon. At your service. How would you like to die today? One for the least painful, ten for the most.”
“WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!” he cried.
“Will,” I said, annoyed, “finish him quicker, will you?”
“Yes, Angel,” he said then, smiling down at the man.
I watched lazily as Will lightly caught the man’s cheeks, and I lowered my lashes when his whimpers turned into cries.
“Good night,” Will said then. “Sleep well.”
And he snapped his head to the side, sending a loud crack! through the air.
Until the CEO’s dead body fell to the ground, deceased.
Will just snapped his fingers, smirking as the dead body suddenly got caught in flames.
I watched the fire reflect in my eyes before it tore through the skin of the man… until there was nothing.
The lights in the room suddenly came on as if they’d been dimmed with darkness, and I gazed up at Will when he stepped back over to the couch, picking up the clothes he just grabbed.
“Now,” he said then, smiling still, “if you may try these on, that would be much appreciated.”
