“You need to eat the eggs first,” Will instructed, pointing to my plate. “You need the protein.”
“No,” I said then, glaring at him, “I want the cinnamon buns.”
“You’re not getting the cinnamon buns until you eat the eggs.”
“I don’t want the eggs!” I argued. “I want the cinnamon buns!”
“Mistress…” Will said then, lashes lowering, “you are not getting the sweets until you eat the healthy.”
“I can have the buns, then the eggs!” I argued then. “There’s no difference!”
“There is a difference,” he argued, setting his hands on the table. “If you eat the cinnamon buns, you’ll waste your appetite with the eggs. Now eat the eggs.”
Right before I could respond, the doorbell rang.
Will gave me an annoyed look. “Don’t move.”
He then walked off to answer the door.
I smiled evilly and reached across the table, lightly catching the plate of buns and slid them over to myself.
“Hello,” Will said to whoever was at the front door, “ah, a package? I see. I can take that from you.”
I then sliced my fork into the bun, cutting off a piece.
“Ah, yes, I can sign,” he said then. “Sorry, one second.” His voice grew stern. “Mistress, don’t you dare touch the buns.”
“I’m eating the eggs,” I lied.
“Ah, okay,” he said to whoever was at the front door, “sign there? Okay.”
I then took a bite of the bun, and closed my eyes as the sweetness burst through my tastebuds.
“Thank you,” Will said then. “Have a nice day.”
The front door closed, and he stepped over to me.
Right as I cut off another piece, a fork flew past my face and sliced into the table, making me yelp when it jabbed right between my hand and the plate.
I glared back at Will. “You could’ve stabbed me.”
“Your mistrust in my aim hurts,” he said then, setting the package on a side table. “And… what did I say about the buns? Must you always go against my word?”
“What are you, my mother?” I demanded.
“Sometimes, I feel like it,” he muttered.
“Excuse me?”
“Nothing, mistress,” he said then, stepping over to the dining table. “Now. You’ve had enough of the sweets, now you eat the eggs.”
I growled low, playing with the scrambled eggs. “I don’t like it.”
“You haven’t even tried it,” he stated. “Come now.” He smiled. “Don’t make me feed you.”
I growled under my breath when he stood next to my chair, and I took a bite of the eggs, chewing slowly.
“Good girl,” he said then, voice low.
I just shot him a look before continuing to eat my food.
“Well…” Will said then, setting a folded rag in front of me so I could pat my lips, “I did your laundry, and it’s all folded into your dresser. I also cleaned up the last bit of your belongings and fixed your room up so it echoes your apartment.”
I gazed up from my plate, blinking. “You did all that… while I was sleeping? Wow… I’m…” I then thought the word, impressed.
Will suddenly leaned into my face, making me suck in a breath.
He just smiled. “It’s not good to underestimate me, Angel. And it’s impossible to overestimate me, you must come to terms with that.”
I felt a bead of sweat slide down my cheek at how close he was.
He just smiled and tapped my lip. “You keep looking at me like that, and I might be tempted.”
He then pulled away and walked off, making me catch my breath.
I didn’t even realize that I held my breath.
What did he mean by… look at him like that?
What was my expression?
