Suki and I walked down the street peacefully this morning, and by the afternoon… everything went to hell.
It was about two o’clock as we walked down the streets; she was previously on her break, you see. And an asshat with his selfish desires jumped out from a bush and shot at her with his puny gun.
I—of course—jumped in the way to keep her safe, but the bullet ended up slicing into my chest.
I distantly heard her cry out when I fell over, and I knew collapsed to the ground, bleeding out. The bullet sliced through my heart, you see.
But my reign wasn’t over.
“Come here, you bitch!” the man screamed, starting to Suki.
She scrambled backward, letting out shallow breaths.
I just chuckled, making both of them look down at me, but I just started laughing, then louder.
My eyes flew open, flashing a bright red, and I arched my back when I rose from the ground like a doll with broken bones.
I flew my head forward, knowing my hair was concealing my expression, but I knew my smile spread across my face.
“What…” the man stammered, stepped backward, “what the hell are you?! I shot you in the heart!”
I just raised my hand and coughed a little, and the bullet flew past my lips and landed on my palm.
Suki’s eyes widened when she saw it was covered in blood.
I gazed up at the man then, tipping my head to the side as my eyes beamed a bright red. “You men seem to have trouble keeping track of your belongings. This is supposed to be in your head, not my chest.”
His eyes widened in horror, and beads of sweat slipped down his cheeks.
“But… alas,” I said then, dropping the bullet on the ground, “I think I might have fun with this. You did try to shoot my Angel, after all.”
He stared for a long moment before he caught a hilt of a dagger from his holster and came running at me. “I’ll kill you!”
He threw the knife forward, attempting to stab me, but I just pivoted backward, sliding out of his way.
He couldn’t stop in time and slammed into a pole behind us.
I watched in amusement when he stood shakily, clearly ignoring the pain, and came at me again.
This time I caught his arm, and he froze. “Hey!” He snapped his gaze to mine. “Let go!”
I threw him backward, still holding onto his arm when his body went the other direction.
I smirked when his elbow snapped with the act, and he screamed in pure agony.
“Good,” I said then, slipping my fingers through his, catching the hilt of the dagger. “I was worried you wouldn’t be able to feel pain to my favorite extent.”
He collapsed onto the side of the bridge, breathing shakily when his back pressed to the concrete wall.
I just threw the dagger forward, and it flew at light speed…
Before slicing into his arm, and pinning him to the concrete wall.
He screamed again, arching his back as tears slipped from his eyes.
“I apologize, but I don’t want you running away.” I smirked and stepped over to him.
“No!” he yelled, kicking out his legs. “Get away from me, you freak!”
“Is that any way to address your killer?” I said then, kneeling in front of him.
I watched as blood slipped down his arm, and I just lightly ran my finger along the wound, making him clench as the pain burned through him.
I just pulled my fingers back to find them red, and I ran my tongue along them to get a taste of his blood.
“Mmm…” I said then, gazing down at him with a smile, “it seems as it you’re human. A tragedy, really. I was hoping for tastier blood.”
He stared at me, wide-eyed. “You’re crazy.”
“You just realized that now?” I said then, tipping my head the side. I just chuckled. “You’re a slow one, aren’t you?”
He just breathed uneasily, breath shaking when he gazed back at Suki who was on her phone.
I pushed his chin to face me. “Look at me when I kill you. It’s the least you can do after you so rudely shot me.”
His breath shook.
“Alas…” I said then, smirking, “I am hungry.”
I then shot forward, tearing my teeth through his neck as he screamed in pure agony.
I just smiled when his savory blood sprinkled onto my tongue, and I just drank his blood greedily… as if I’d never had any before.
He fought me for about a minute before the venom kicked in, and he screamed, fighting me harder… until he lost enough blood to make him relax against the wall.
I smiled as I drank, feeling his life leave his body throughout my meal. His warm skin turn cold… his breaths straining and fading, and the color in his eyes dulling.
When I had my fill, I pulled back, watching his lifeless corpse slump before me.
I smirked and snapped my fingers, and I watched the familiar fire tear through his skin before there was nothing left of him.
I glanced back at Suki who just put her phone down, and she gazed up at me, blinking.
I looked down at myself, and I was covered in blood.
My mouth, my lips, my arms, and my shirt were all drenched in his blood… it kind of looked like I used red paint.
When I gazed back up at Suki, she handed me a Chipotle napkin.
I chuckled. “I don’t think that’s enough, Angel.”
She just rolled her eyes. “Excuse me for trying to help.”
My smile widened a little. “Let’s go home. I could use a shower.”
She arched a brow. “You think?”
I just chuckled and picked her up, smirking up at her when I held her like a child again. “Shall we go?”
She blinked, but I just hopped onto a car, and then onto a house, and continued hopping from roof to roof before he dropped down, and we landed on our front porch.
I carried me inside and set her down, and she gazed up at me when I closed one eye and winked at her. “I will only take a couple minutes.”
“Yeah, okay,” she said then, stepping over to the couch. “I’ll just binge The Amazing World of Gumball again.”
I smirked at her and left, vanishing upstairs to my bedroom.
Her ten-minute episode was only a quarter over before I came descending down the stairs, fully clothed and clean.
“That took like… three minutes,” she told me.
I smirked and stepped over to the couch, settling on it beside her. “Well, I said a couple minutes, didn’t I?”
She just sighed and stared back at the TV, and I watched with her.
After a moment I just wrapped my arm around her form and lightly kissed her head, guiding it to my shoulder.
And she let me.
