“That was amazing!” I said, smiling as Will and I walked down the street. “Thank you.”
He smiled down at me. “Sure.”
I stared back forward, humming to myself as I skipped down the street.
“It’s almost midnight,” Will said then, making me glance up with puffed cheeks. “You maybe wanna—”
“Hey, Will!” someone yelled, making both him and I gaze up.
Our boss stood there, holding a mug of beer in her hand as she peeked out from the bar across from us.
“The party was today!” she told us, voice slightly slurred. “Whatare-ya doing? Get in here!”
Will sighed. “Oh, boy.”
I glanced up at him, shock rumbling through me. “Oh, shoot! The party! That’s right! I forgot!”
He just gazed down at me. “You don’t have to if you don’t want to, Suki.”
I made a pft noise, waving off his concern. “What’s more important than a date is coworker bonding!”
He gave me a bored look, but I just set my hands down, puffing my cheeks in annoyance. “It’s... whatever. Let’s just go.”
And I skipped off into the bar, feeling him following me from close behind.
Twenty minutes later, I sipped casually from my beer as my coworkers cheered from behind me, tossing their beers in the air at some joke the boss made.
I sputtered my lips, waving side to side in boredom.
So much for coworker bonding. Everyone just ignored me! What the hell? I did everything for them, and they just pretend I don’t exist?
Also... where was Will? He kinda vanished.
I pouted at the counter, spinning my finger along the rim of my glass.
“Suki!” someone said, making me glance up.
My now-wasted boss leaned on the counter, making my lips part when she smiled lazily at me. “Come on. You’ve only had one beer!”
“I’m not much of a drinker,” I told her, pursing my lips.
She just shook her head. “Not acceptable.” She then slammed a twenty-dollar bill on the table. “Give this nice woman a glass of scotch! And keep it comin’ just for her! Don’t stop until she’s drunken five!”
She winked at me and then left.
I sighed in annoyance as the bartender slipped a glass of scotch to me, and I lightly took it.
No wonder Will hated coming to these.
I never came to one before... I’d been working at the company for a while now, but never had the time or the money to come here.
I lightly drank the scotch, wincing when it burned down my throat, but I just kept going until I drank the whole thing.
But—right after the first—I dropped the glass, lowing my head to the table as a sudden tipsy feeling came over me.
Oh, no... I was already drunk.
I knew this was going to happen.
I didn’t handle alcohol well which was why I never drank it.
I kept my face on the counter as he poured me another glass, but I didn’t dare take it.
Oh, my... the world was spinning.
I giggled a little.
“Suki?” someone said, making me sit up.
Will stepped up to me, and tried to stand to greet him, but my legs gave out from under me.
He caught me in seconds.
My prince charming. Hehehe.
“Whoa,” he said, helping me back up. “You okay?”
I just pressed my hand to my head, not particularly liking how the world was spinning. “I can’t handle drunk well. Can you help me....?”
He chuckled a little. “You mean you don’t handle alcohol well?”
I nodded shyly. “I don’t think I can walk.”
He helped me back onto the bar seat. “Who gave you so much alcohol?”
“Boss,” I replied, “she... drunk.”
“Suki!” one of my coworkers yelled. “How’s the drinking going? You better chug all five scotches!”
Will then glanced at them, making them shrink back when he sent them a murderous glare.
“You know what?” they said. “I might go to the bathroom.”
And they scurried off.
Will gazed back at me, eyes soft. “Where are you keys? I can take you home.”
“Keys?” I said, giggling. “What keys?”
He gave me a look. “Suki.”
“No, seriously,” I said, snickering. “I lost them.”
“You lost the keys to your apartment,” he clarified.
I nodded, setting my head on his shoulder as he stiffened. “Yeah, I was leaving and then they took it from me.”
He growled under his breath, but I remained in place.
“Okay,” he said then, sighing, “I guess you’re coming to my place then, huh?”
I just remained in place, and he stood as I gazed hazily at him.
He just helped me up and wrapped my arm around his shoulder, and he then walked me out the doors.
“Wait, Suki! Where are you going!” someone called. “Your keys are still in Jermy's pocket!”
Will glanced back at them; eyes hardened in anger as they stiffened. “You’re giving those keys back to me tomorrow, understand?”
He nodded quickly. “Yes, Will.”
He helped me out the bar seconds later.
I hiccupped a little as Will guided me forward, and we continued down the street for a while before my legs buckled.
He caught me, making me hiccup again as I remained in place, struggling to stand.
“You okay?” he said then.
“Can’t... walk,” I told him, trying to stand. “I’m sorry.”
He just sighed and pulled my arms. “Here, ready?”
“For wha—”
He suddenly threw me up, and I yelped when I landed in his chest, though he just held me up and started walking.
Was he... carrying me?
Uhm... okay.
I remained in place as my face hovered above his, though he didn’t seem to notice, or he was just really good at not showing it.
I felt myself blushing like blood was suddenly swarming my cheeks.
He glanced at me. “You can rest your head on my shoulder, you know.”
“Uhm...” I said, “okay.”
I lowered my head to his shoulder then, making him adjust his chin a little as he carried me.
He sighed then. “You’re wasted and still shy. Good to know.”
I just stared at his skin, lightly playing with the collar of his suit. “Can you help me?”
“I am helping you.”
“I know,” I said then, “but... thank you. I sorry we have to go to your apartment.”
He chuckled a little. “You think I mind?”
I pursed my lips as he continued forward. “You don’t mind?”
“Any guy would give anything to have a beautiful girl in their Bachler pad.”
I just snickered. “You think I’m pretty?”
“And adorable,” he added. “You’d be a very famous animal at a pet store.”
I just remained in place. “You think I’m adorable?”
“Are you just going to answer every comment I have with a question?” he replied then, chuckling.
I just snuggled my face in his neck. “Maybe.”
“Hey, good job. That one wasn’t a question.”
I felt him going up some stairs but didn’t really care where we were. “Are we really dating?”
“Yes,” he told me.
“So what does that mean?” I asked him.
He stopped for a moment, and I heard keys rattling, then all the sudden a door opened, and we entered an apartment of some kind.
The moment the cold air brushed my arms, I gasped and hid my face in his neck.
He just chuckled and kicked the door closed behind him. “Do you not know what dating is?”
I shook my head in his chest.
“Well couples do things like going to movies, watching movies, cooking dinner for each other—”
“Sex?” I said then.
He froze for a moment. “I mean... yeah.”
“What is sex?” I asked him then.
He just sighed. “Are you seriously asking your boyfriend to give you, the talk?”
“No,” I said then, giggling, “just messing with you.”
He just lowered me onto the couch, but was still carrying me in a sense. “Don’t make jokes like that.”
I gazed up. “Why?”
“Because I might not be able to hold back, okay?” His expression was neutral.
I just sputtered my lips angrily. “You’re no fun.”
He just remained in place. “You wanna know another thing couples do?”
I gazed up. “What?”
He suddenly fell down, and I closed my eyes tightly, squealing when we collapsed onto the couch, though when I opened my eyes, he was just lying with me. “They snuggle,” he said. “Now stay here, okay?”
I gazed up at him. “Why?”
“Well, why not?” he replied.
I just set my head on his chest, shaking my head as I yawned. “I sleep now.”
“Okay,” he told me, chuckling a little.
