"If you want to back out, I won't hold it against you," Aren says patting me on the shoulder.
"You would love that, wouldn't you? I'm the son of an Alpha I never back down." I say with a smirk.
A couple of weeks ago, Aren and I made a bet that her level 1 students couldn't beat mine. For days now we have been planning this but to no avail. I've been busy with my father's company, alpha studies, and Quinneth. Now, since I'm available we are doing it.
"Kristin step up," I tell one of my students. She's only been in my class for 2 months now and she has shown much promise. Her agility is amazing and she is greatly disciplined. If I have any faith in winning this competition, Kristin will be the one to win it for me.
Looking over at Aren, she's deciding on who she wants to pick. It's between two tall girls, one with golden hair and the other with black hair. Both girls look like they could tear down a mountain. While the only guy is a muscled meathead, I meant that in the nicest way possible. With careful consideration, she finally picks a student. Bringing him to the front of the crowd he stands tall and mighty. 6ft tall, hands as big as mine, and muscles huge.
"Oh no, Aren this isn't fair. He's twice her size." I whisper to her which I soon come to regret. Something I forget to remember is that you can't whisper around werewolves, strong hearing.
"Hey, I was fighting you all the time, and your five times my weight." She says confidently.
Kristin steps in front of him sizing up her opponent. "It's ok Alexander sir, I can take him on. Remember, you told us to never step down from a challenge." She said looking me in my eyes.
"You're perfectly right," I say giving her a pat on the back for good luck. "You ready?" I asked Aren. Kristin and her opponent step up to the fictional ring.
"Alright. No hitting in the private areas, if it becomes too much the safe word is 'blue'. Last but not least, to win you must pin the person down for 10 seconds." Aren tells everyone reading out the rules. "Get ready... set... match!"
Kristin and Aren's student, who I later learn is named Elias, both start to walk around each other waiting for one or the other to make the first move. They both put their fist up and make their stance. Elias lunges to Kristin with a punch, but she dodges it. He stumbles forward and Kristin sticks out her leg and he trips.
"Good girl!" I yell out to Kristin clapping. Aren shoots me a dirty look. I turn away from her to focus on the match.
Elias regains stability and charges Kristin. She tries to throw another at him, but she misses. He bends down, picks her up, and throws her against the tree, god that's got to hurt.
My hand shakes furiously, Kristin is tough, but if someone threw me into a tree I'd swallow up in pain. Not Kristin though, she's up like a racehorse who came back from injury. Up and ready to ride again.
"You can stop anytime, little girl. "Elias grunts out as he charges towards her once more.
"Never." She wipes the blood from her lip and pushes her hair out of her face. Her hand comes to his neck and starts to choke him. His big hands clamp onto her dainty arm and start to twist, she groans out in pain. I hope she remembers the move I taught her.
With twisting her arm, he has enough leverage to turn her over on the ground. He lays on top, pinning her to the ground.
Everyone starts to count. "1..2..3...4..5."Before we're able to get to 6 she head bunts him in the face which lets him lose his grip on her. Kristin throws her weight into him and holds him firmly to the ground. He's thrashing around under her but doesn't have enough strength to push her off. Her fingers grind into the ground, hard.
"...5..6..7..8...9..10!" Everyone chants. Kristin won, my girl won. I run over to her and place her on my shoulders. My other students chant her name while Aren's students go to help Elias up.
"Looks like I won," I tell Aren smirking at her.
"Whatever." She turns her gaze away from me to Elias. "You will run extra laps tomorrow. I can't believe your loss, and to a girl, shame." She mutters under her breath looking at him with disgust and anger.
After prancing Kristin around on my shoulder, I sit her back on the ground. "You did great today, Kristin. I'm proud." I tell her.
"Thank you, sir." She walks away from me and over to her friends to celebrate her victory.
"So, what is it you want?" Aren asked crossing her arms and tapping her foot impatiently.
"Let me see... you will fill in for me at my border patrol duties this week," I tell her.
"Ugh fine." We shake on it.
We keep on conversating until Aren's mother, Anfran Parbat, comes walking over to us.
"What is all this?" She asked with curiousness in her voice.
"Nothing," Aren responds. All my students and hers scatter off, trying not to feel the wrath of Gamma Parbat.
"Don't lie to me Deshka." She says squinting her eyes at Aren and me.
"Mama I don't like that name, call me Aren." She groans out in aggravation.
"It is your name, that is what I will call you. Your name was given to you by your great-great great grandmother, Deshka Lina Parbat. She fought for the late King Bernulf in the War of Sons. Be grateful." Mrs. Parbat says. While she was saying this, Aren quietly was mocking her.
"Were you mocking me?" She asks tightening her shawl around her. "Would you have rather me have named you something simple? Like Kaitlin or Jessica? Those aren't names of promise, but Deshka Aren Parbat is." Her mother says proudly.
"No Mama, I'm so grateful for my name." Her voice comes out like a programmed robot.
"That is what I thought." She looks towards me. "Now you Alexander, your father would be greatly disappointed in you. This is not the behavior of a future Alpha, I'm gravely disappointed." Before she could go on, her phone starts to ring. "It's your sister Keaorah I've got to go, behave." She warns pointing at us. As she walks off, I look towards Aren.
"Someone got chewed out by their mommy," I say laughing at her.
"Shut up you got chewed out too, Alpha's son." She rebuttals.
"Whatever."
"Yeah, whatever." Before we can bicker any more Christian jogs over to us.
"So, enlighten me. Who won?" He asked eagerly. Aren rolls her eyes and points to me.
"I won," I say happily. Christian shakes his hand with mine.
"Congrats. I knew you would win."
"What!" Aren screams out enraged.
"Have you not seen Kristin fight? She's amazing, it was in the bag."
"I'm out of here." She walks away from us, going into the house.
"You want to hang?" I asked Christian. It's been a while since we've hung out.
"Wish I could but can't. I'm on patrol duty tonight, sorry. I got to go right now, see you later." He pats me on the back and heads back in the direction he came from.
For once, I have nothing else to do. Usually, I can never find time in the day to chill, now I can. I think to myself what could I do. I could go see what Quinn's doing, she has no school today.
Instead of driving over to her house, I decide to run, in wolf form. I walk behind the tree and take my shirt and pants off. If you shift without taking your clothes off, you'll rip them. Then when you shift back, you'll be completely naked, which you don't want. Sitting my clothes on the ground, I began to shift.
I feel my bones start to bend, fur comes out of my pores and my face starts to change. Within a few minutes, I'm in wolf form. When a wolf shifts for the first time it hurts like hell. At one point you feel like you're dying. As you shift more and more the pain goes away.
I grab up my clothes in my mouth and began running through the woods to Quinn's house. The wind breezes through my fur as I speed up. A werewolf feels more at home when they are in wolf form, you can let loose. After 5 minutes of running, I reach Quinn's house. Sitting my clothes on the ground, I quickly shift back into human form and begin putting my clothes on.
Craning my neck to see into her bedroom window, I fail to see anything. I need to get higher, looking to my right I see a tall big tree, perfect. I grab onto one branch while my footsteps on the other one. No more than 5 minutes later I'm at the top of the tree. From this view I can see her whole neighborhood, and in her window.
She's dancing around her room, I've never seen her so... relaxed. She's wearing a short-checkered skirt with a black crop top. Her curly tendrils bounce around as she bops her head up and down. Her hips sway side to side as her feet tap the ground. She's so fucking beautiful, I swear.
I have to call her right now.
Holding one hand onto the tree, I take my phone out of my pocket and dial her number. I wait. Once she sees her phone ringing, she turns off her stereo and runs to her bed.
"Hello?" She says out of breath.
"Hi, why are you out of breath?" I asked. I know the reason I just want to see what she's going to say.
"I was umm..." I see her looking around her room for an excuse. "Homework. I was doing strenuous amounts of homework."
"Homework?" I snicker.
"Yeah, homework." She's more convinced now.
"Since when do you become out of breath from doing homework?" I readjust my grip on the tree.
"Newtons law makes me short-winded." She laughs. "Don't judge."
"I'm not." My voice comes out soft.
"So, what are you doing?" She asked dwindling with her skirt.
"Thinking about you," I tell her. Even from a distance, I see her face flush. Her lips twitch into a smile as she holds her side. She's so shy and I don't know why.
"Now?" She asks amused.
"Yeah, are you busy?" She sits on her bed and lays back.
"I was doing homework. Newton's second law is calling out to me." I guess we're still running with this lie.
"Well, call that Newton guy later let's hang." I try to convince her. She turns on her stomach, her skirt rises a little showing her chocolate thighs. A deep growl erupts from my chest, she doesn't understand what she's doing to me.
She huffs, "Fine, comes over in an hour."
"Ok, bye." I hang up the phone. I linger in the tree for a few more minutes. She jumps up and down with a huge smile on her face. Leaning in closely I can hear her say something.
"I can't wait Alexander." She skips out of her room.
Me either.
Quinneth's P.O.V.-
"Everything is done," I say mumbling to myself. Alexander will be over here any minute, so as soon as I got off the phone with him, I started setting everything up.
I take the popcorn out of the microwave and dump it in the green bowl. Without thinking, I throw some of it in my mouth. The popcorn is immediately spat out, I forgot I brushed my teeth a few minutes ago.
With Alexander coming over tonight, I wanted to not only look my best but smell my best. I know a few days ago I told him that I didn't want any type of relations until I was ready for more. Well, I think I'm ready for more.
We've been hanging out every day this week and he hasn't tried to pull any move on me. I thought he would take our talk in the classroom as bullshit and kiss me anyway, but he obeyed what I said. Which means he has respect for me as a woman and human. I've kissed him on the cheek and he kissed me on the cheek. Also, he kissed me on the hands two days ago, but that's it.
I thought after Myers I wouldn't like another guy again, it seemed impossible and distant. Myers was my first boyfriend, first kiss, and some part of me felt maybe I wouldn't find someone again. Alexander is nothing like Myers, he's funny and kind and sweet.
From hanging out with him, that idea about Myers is now redundant. I walk into the living room and sit the popcorn bowl on the glass coffee table. Stepping back, I observe what's on it.
Going from left to right theirs Twizzlers candies and chocolates, popcorn and some can sodas. I found whatever I could in the kitchen that was 'movie food' and put it out on the table. Thank god grandpa isn't here he'd be furious if he found out I was eating his Twizzlers
Speaking of Grandpa, he's been out every day this week with Irene. I think it's turning into something serious. For years he's been alone, romantically, so for him to have somebody he can talk to and love makes me happy. When I get older and move out, he'll have somebody and won't be so alone.
As I sit down the napkins on the table the doorbell rings.
Oh god, I don't think I'm ready for this.
