It was still early in the morning, though I couldn't sleep for the life of me.
I was thinking about Sebastian... if he wanted to hurt me or to save me.
I didn't know.
All I knew was that he was tied into this somehow, and he was planning something...
What was he going to do to me?
I decided to walk back home alone at five in the morning because I didn't want Neveah's parents to get mad at her for letting me sleep over without them knowing...
They'd especially get mad at the fact that I crawled through her window.
It was still dark outside, and I could feel the cold swallowing me.
I tried playing music again, plugging my ears with earbuds to help my anxiety... and I decided to walk home with my eyes closed.
I knew how to get there, anyway.
I suspected that maybe if I couldn't see, then it wouldn't happen again.
I mouthed the lyrics, keeping my head down as I walked forward.
I thought I was safe...
I was wrong.
My earbuds crapped out again, and I cried out, once more, when static blasted through me.
I tore them out, ears ringing as I gazed up.
I stilled, finding a familiar man standing under the lamp-light... and he was smiling menacingly.
"Sebastian?" I asked him. "I know it's you! Stop scaring me! It's not funny anymore!"
The man only tipped his head to the side.
I stared.
"It's not real, is it?" I asked him. "Am I dreaming?"
He suddenly shot forward, and I screamed when his hand locked around my throat, I choked as he pulled me up, fingers digging in my skin while my feet slipped off the ground.
"This is far from a dream," he whispered menacingly.
I struggled to breathe, kicking out my legs as my head flooded with red, and my vision titled, framing black, all while every part of me started growing weaker and weaker.
I couldn't think straight; all I knew was that I was kicking him, and he wasn't fazed.
My sight darkened, and I caught onto his hands, trying to pull them away, but I felt so weak.
Weak... so weak.
If this was fake, why did it feel so real?
I kept fighting him, but his grip stayed.
And he suddenly looked behind me, smile vanishing, and I noticed that his eyes were black... pitch black.
He dropped me, and I choked, coughing as all the air flooded back to my body, and I collapsed onto the ground, trying to gain back all the air that I lost.
Though I heard the man's footsteps rushing away.
I watched through my tilted vision as he vanished around the corner.
I only continued gasping, trying to catch my breath, but I was panicking.
He almost killed me... and then he left?
Why?
I only gasped for air.
"Someone..." I whispered, "help me."
"And your king has arrived," someone said sarcastically, footsteps padding toward me.
I gazed up, eyes widening when I saw Sebastian walking toward me from the direction the man left.
Confusion coiled inside me.
The moment his eyes searched the sidewalk, he blinked and looked down at me, brows drawing together.
"May I ask why you're lying on the sidewalk?" he said.
I just closed my eyes tightly, struggling to breath as I turned my head to the side, searching my surroundings for the man.
I then gazed up at Sebastian.
It could've been him. Maybe he was trying to scare me away from something... or he wanted to kill me...
Then why did he stop?
Sebastian only stepped over to me, and I sucked in a breath when he gazed down at me.
His eyes darkened then, and I could tell he saw the bruise forming around my neck.
He cursed under his breath, looking around for the culprit, but couldn't find him, so he just looked back down at me.
"Here," he said, lifting my arm and guiding it around my neck, "come on."
"No..." I whispered as he lifted me. "St—stop."
He never listened, just scooped me up and started toward the opposite direction without another word.
I just struggled to breathe, hoping that he wasn't the killer.
But what if he was? What if he was carrying me to my doom?
I was too weak to fight him... I couldn't.
He never asked me what happened, just continued carrying me somewhere.
And I could feel myself fading... I was fading.
This... it really happened?
It really happened? Was I even going insane? Was I just seeing things that were actually happening and then they somehow cleaned the mess in a second?
The man... the killer's eyes were pitch black, and Sebastian's eyes were a very dark grey—black in the darkness... I was starting to wonder if it really was Sebastian. The eye color matched.
But I still couldn't see the killer's face... he was wearing some kind of mask, and I couldn't tell what the hell it was, but it was some mask you wear to a gathering, though like an... emotionless one, and it was white.
I seriously wondered... if this man who was trying to kill me...
If it was Sebastian.
