I stared in the mirror of the bathroom inside this café we were staying at, and I watched as my eyes glistened, reflecting the lights from the mirror like they were stars.
My cheeks were reddened... and cold, very cold.
I was freezing.
I didn't know why, though... It could've been because it's been snowing lately.
It never ceases to snow in Washington when it's winter.
I hated the cold; it was my definition of disgusting.
I continued staring.
Sebastian took me to some café that was in the middle of the old-town area; it was some old, abandoned-looking shop, though in the inside, it was gorgeous.
It was comfy, warm, soothing, and it smelled entirely like chocolate.
And that was because these people specialized in chocolate; they made it, and they served it as chocolate bars as well as making it into hot chocolate.
I hadn't tried it yet, but Sebastian got some for me, and it was in the middle of being made.
While it was, though, I told him I was using the restroom because I really had to pee.
I did, though, I wasn't lying about that.
Hey, it's normal.
But then I saw my reflection, and I couldn't help think about how much I've changed.
I've used to be a mommy's girl... and a daddy's girl; I promised myself I'd never date because all the guys at my school were assholes, self-serving assholes.
I wasn't wrong.
But it turned out, Sebastian was one of them; one of the bad ones, but still...
I fell in love with him.
He even scared me ! He had the image of a psychopath!
Was I going insane?
Yes, yes, I was.
Did I care? No.
What also bothered me was that... when Sebastian took me that first time, I was so homesick, and I even cried a little at one point. Though, over time and over the training, I grew stronger, and even when I saw my picture on the news and my parents begging for someone to find me, I didn't feel it as much...
Was it because they... weren't my real parents? Or was it because I grew stronger?
Or was it because... I knew if I went back... it could kill them?
Literally.
I knew... I had to go back.
I leaned against the sink, breathing for a moment.
I've changed... and it was a little unsettling, but it didn't bother me as much as it should have.
But when I glanced back up—determined to leave—I saw Sebastian's reflection in the mirror.
I screamed, flipping around and staring at him.
I saw the rune lined along his neck, and I settled back into myself.
I gazed up at him. "Why do you keep doing that?! I will punch you at some point!"
"Why?" he said innocently, leaning against a stall. "I came to check on you; you've been in here for ten minutes, and something told me you weren't crapping the Eiffel Tower this time."
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever, I was just thinking."
"About?" he prompted.
I gazed up at him. "None-ya."
"I mean, it's not my business," he said, shrugging as he then glanced over at me, smirking, "unless you want to be tickled."
I pointed an accusing finger at him. "I will stab you, I swear."
"Then you'd kill me," he replied, tipping his head to the side. "You don't want that, do you?"
I gave him a look. "You're very menacing, you should know."
He smiled slightly. "Then why aren't you running?"
I grumbled under my breath, turning to the mirror.
"What?" he said.
I just turned back around. "Because it's hot, that's why."
He arched his brows.
"I know," I said, nodding, "I'm going insane, aren't I?"
He shrugged, giving me a knowing look.
"What?" I said.
"Nothing," he replied.
I shook my head, stepping past him and out the door, but he just caught my arm, making me glance back at him.
"Are you scared of me?" he wondered curiously.
I turned toward him, eyes dulling in hesitation. "A little."
He tipped his head to the side. "Why?"
I just smirked. "Tu jhooti."
He blinked. "Huh?"
I just shook my head. "Lean Hindi and maybe you'd understand."
"I do understand," he said, nodding as he tipped his head to the side again, "you called me a liar."
I stood fully then, blinking. "You knew what I said?"
"Yes," he replied, smirking, "tu jhooti: you're a liar."
I stared. "How many languages do you know?"
"All of them," he replied, laughing, "I was taught all languages when I was child."
"Your parents were hard," I muttered.
He was silent for a moment, but his eyes darkened, making my brows draw together. "They did the best they could... And if I could go back to tell them that, I would."
My lips parted, and I watched as his eyes switched back to their normal color and he gazed down at me.
Did his parents die or something...?
But I just closed my eyes, pushing my arms above my head to tighten my muscles. "Ahhh... stretching. I love stretching."
I was trying to lighten the mood because I was pretty sure I depressed the hell out of him.
When I parted my lashes, he was smirking.
"What?" I said then. "Stop looking at me like that."
"Like what?" he said.
My lashes lowered. "Like you're planning on killing someone."
He tipped his head to the side. "I was, though."
I arched my brows in response. "What, now?"
He sputtered his lips. "Yeah, he pissed me off. He works here, you know. And he has brown hair, green eyes, and a skinny form. You know who I'm talking about, right?"
I gave him a look.
"What?" he said innocently.
I rolled my eyes. "There's like a million guys who have that form, Sebastian. And they're all over the place, you know that, right?"
He tipped his head to the side again, regarding me. "Not all of them have the name, Jed."
I froze. "Wh...what now?"
"Remember how you told me that story about that guy named Jed who hurt you, and then his friends tried to hook onto you after?" he wondered.
"Uhm... yes, why?" I questioned suspiciously.
"Well..." Sebastian said, leaning against the wall, "while you were in here, I might've called him into a silent part of the restaurant and beat the crap out of him."
I gave him a look. "Seriously?"
He showed his teeth through a smile.
I rolled my eyes, pushing past him and shoving open the bathroom door, and I stopped suddenly, lips parting when I saw a body on the floor.
Brown hair, green eyes, skinny form...
Yep, it was Jed.
Although, he was unconscious, breathing shallowly, and his body was covered in bruises and lumps from Sebastian's blows.
I turned to Sebastian who was behind me, and glared. "Why don't you punch the president, while you're at it?" I scoffed. "Moron."
He only smirked and I shoved past him, running over to the table where Neveah sat, lightly sipping her drink.
I caught my drink and the box of croissants Sebastian bought earlier. "Come on, we're going."
"What?" she said, gazing up. "Why?"
"Because once they find out that one of their workers is passed-out and beaten to a pulp, they're going to call the police, and get us arrested."
"Fleeing the scene?" Sebastian whispered in my ear, making me still. "That's a wimp move."
I shoved him away, shooting him a look. "Stop doing that! You're scaring the crap out of me every time! I swear you weigh as much as a mouse. I never sense you!"
His smile tilted.
Goddamn it, I just complemented him in his eyes.
Ugh, this boy was weird.
I just stepped out from the door and Neveah glanced up before following me, and I assumed so did Sebastian.
"You do realize they could've heard our conversation, right?" Neveah asked me.
"Nah," Sebastian said from right next to me and I jumped, "they're all in the back doing their employee gossip, as usual."
I turned to him. "Can you teleport or something? You just keep appearing next to me when you were behind me!"
He chuckled. "Someone's on edge today."
I glared at him. "I wonder why."
He just stared forward, still smirking.
I stared back forward...
I might've known him now, better, at least, but... he was lying to me about something.
Something.
For the last three months, he'd been lying to me, and it was really horrifying.
What secret was he keeping from me now? And now that I knew everything, he physically cannot tell me this one...
Was it that bad?
I narrowed my eyes.
I should be nosey.
I would be nosey.75Please respect copyright.PENANAubA8liBlbF
