"Yeah, Doctor Jen is on vacation..." Claire said as I sat on an infirmary bed, lashes lowering in annoyance.
Sebastian stood next to me, looking a little irritated, as well.
"She and her two boys went to Florida a couple weeks ago," she explained to us, slipping some ibuprofen from a cabinet. "That's why it's so quiet around here; Jaden and Jake went with her, and Chris and Neveah left a day ago to go to some condo in Arizona. All of them won't be back for a month at least."
Sebastian rolled his eyes. "Great, guys. Thanks for telling me."
Claire smiled sympathetically. "Sorry, gonna have to do it the old-fashioned way."
"You mean the human way?" I corrected.
She waved off my response and held the pain meds out to Sebastian. "Have her take these, wrap it up, and don't let her walk on it."
I sighed in annoyance as Claire handed him the ibuprofen and walked out from the room.
"So... longer than today?" I guessed.
Sebastian smiled sadly. "Yeah."
I sighed and dropped my head back in annoyance, though Sebastian walked over to a cart next to me and grabbed a roll of bandages.
He just stepped over to me, kneeling by my feet and caught my injured one.
I winced when his fingers touched my skin, though he was holding my calf.
The pain was spreading, ugh.
He just gracefully wrapped my foot up, making my lips part as he slid it around my ankle and tightened it slightly, and kept going until the roll was empty.
I just stared at him as he caught another roll and started doing that one.
As he continued wrapping my foot, I tipped my head to the side when I noticed a small little rune poking out from the collar of his shirt.
I touched it, making him glance up at me, but I just traced it with my fingers.
He continued wrapping. "You're distracting me, Skye."
"I don't care," I replied honestly.
He just sighed, finishing that roll and stood.
After taking some pain meds, he carried me back to my bedroom, and surprisingly enough, the wrappings felt nice; the pain lessened.
He opened my door with his shoulder and carried me to bed, and I stared up as he helped me into the sheets and pulled them over me.
"Ugh..." I said as he tucked me in, "I can't walk now."
An amused look crossed his face, and he just chuckled. "Goodie for me."
I glared. "What?"
He chuckled evilly. "So, now I can carry you everywhere. It's nice for me, I'd say."
I sighed, rolling my eyes. "You're weird."
He sat on my bed then, brushing my hair away from my face as my lashes fluttered.
But I just stared up as he pulled away, asking him, "You're not leaving, are you?"
His eyes locked on mine then, and he smiled slightly. "I wasn't planning on it."
I watched him as he continued to soothe my hair away from my face, fingers brushing on my skin.
"Can you stay?" I whispered, somehow calming down despite the pain I was in.
He nodded, leaning forward and brushing a kiss along my forehead. "Move over, Sweetheart."
I scooted to the left of my queen-sized bed and watched as he slipped under the sheets with me, though I just stared up and shifted toward him, rolling over so I could rest my head on his chest.
He raised his arms in response. "Doesn't that hurt?"
"No..." I replied, getting comfy as he wrapped his arms around me, "my foot's on a cushiony pillow that I accidently left there this morning."
He chuckled then, pushing my head to his neck as he started brushing his fingers through my hair. "I love you."
I parted my lashes, cheeks burning with red. "I love you, too."
