"Hey!" I said, gasping slightly as I shot out from my car. "Neveah!"
My best friend glanced up at me from the other side of the parking lot, and I haphazardly shut my car door and locked it, running over to her seconds later.
"Woah there, killer," she said, smirking as I put my hands on my knees and gasped. "You good?"
I stood fully and nodded, catching my breath. "I wanted to... ask you something."
She smiled slightly. "Maybe wait until you can breathe, yeah?"
I nodded, centering myself for a moment before I stood fully.
"Shoot away, killer," she told me, smirking.
"Can you stop calling me that?" I demanded. "It's rude, you know."
She rolled her eyes. "I'm not the one who crushes my cereal and laughs, seriously, you're a cereal-killer."
"Haha," I said, "very funny."
"Punny," she corrected, "and what did you want to ask me?"
I breathed for a moment before I urged myself forward. "Do you know Sebastian?"
She blinked. "Uh, a little. Why?"
"Has he talked about me?" I asked her, brows drawing together. "Like he if he knows where I live... have you told him about... my dreams?"
"Dreams?" Neveah said. "What dreams?"
I blinked.
So I hadn't talked about them.
I guessed as much... last night was definitely real.
"Ooookay," she said at my lack of response. "Uh, no, no dream gossip, but if he knows you? I don't know. I only hang around his friend group occasionally, and he hasn't talked about you, so...."
I just sighed.
"You can ask him, though," she suggested, gazing up, "look, he's pulling up on queue."
I gazed up, breath stilling when a long, black SUV parked on the side of the road, and I watched as the car turned off, and Sebastian slowly came out from driver's side.
He shut the door, and immediately—as if he sensed me looking at him—his eyes locked on mine.
He smiled, a dark look in his eyes, and he just winked.
I stared.
He walked off then, sliding on his sunglasses as he stepped to the pile of his friends, and one of them wrapped their arm around his neck, pulling him forward as they all walked into the school.
"Okay..." Neveah said then, "is it just me... or did he wink at you?"
I only shook my head, making my way forward to the school. "It's probably nothing."
"Oh, it's not nothing," Neveah said, running after me. "What's going on between you two? I want the juicy details."
"Then go eat an apple," I suggested. "It has juice in it and you can tell me the details of how it tastes later."
She gave me a bored look. "That was a horrible comeback."
"My mind's in another place, okay?" I told her.
She only ran forward so she faced me, walking backwards as a wide smile spread across her face. "Thinking of Sebastian?"
Yes, actually. But I wasn't going to tell her that.
I still didn't know what was going on, and I intended to find out. This wasn't exactly the... pleasantest feeling... knowing that he knew where I lived, and that, well, he'd been crawling through my window every night, and I didn't even know it was him.
Why did it have to be Sebastian? He was the most stuck-up, asshole in this school!
And I let him do things those nights! I let him cuddle with me and... I talked about DREAM SEX?
I hoped he didn't remember that.
He probably did, though.
"You're thinking about him, aren't you?" Neveah said.
I just gazed up. "The caller you reached is currently unavailable, please try again later."
She smirked. "I'd like to leave a voicemail."
"I'm sorry," I said in a monotone, "the caller's mailbox is currently full, please call again later."
She gave me a bored look. "Are you an answering machine now?"
I never replied, and she rolled her eyes.
"Come on!" she said. "Juicy details? Have you told your mom yet?"
I glared. "No, she'd kill me, bring me back to life, then kill me again, then bring me back, then have a heart attack, then a stroke, and then she'd kill me again."
Neveah laughed. "That's a lot."
"You have no idea," I said, "you think my mom's nice? The moment she finds out I have a boyfriend, she'd lock me in a bomb shelter."
"She's that protective?" Neveah said.
I nodded as we finally entered the school.
"What about your dad?" she asked me.
I sighed. "He's worse. He's lock him in a bomb shelter with no access to food or water."
She snickered. "That's hell."
I sighed and nodded.
Neveah only smirked. "So, you're dating him then?"
I glared. "No."
"Yes, you arrrrre," she told me, laughing softly. "You're dating him, aren't you?"
"He's a self-centered sociopath!" I hissed. "I would never date him in my life!"
"That's hurtful," Sebastian said.
I jumped, gasping when I saw him walking next to us.
"Stop doing that!" I said, glaring. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
"A lot of things," he replied honestly, "but a sociopath, I am not."
I only rolled my eyes as Neveah slowed to walk next to me.
"Ooh," she said, "busted."
I sighed, shaking my head. "How long have you been there?" I asked him.
"A while," he replied, smirking.
"I thought your friends dragged you down into a dungeon by now, oh wait," I said, "correction, you would drag them down into a dungeon by now, and then kill them... slowly."
"Sounds like a horror movie," he commented, thinking. "Great idea for one, actually. Jack the Ripper: Taming in the Dungeon."
"That sounds like some weird gross romance," Neveah commented, "try taking out the... 'taming' thing."
He sighed, pursing his lips as I stared forward.
"You didn't deny it," I said then, making him glance down.
"Deny what?" he asked innocently.
"That you hurt people," I replied, "I was testing you."
Neveah glanced over at me, confused.
"I never said I hurt people, Kiki," he replied, smirking as he leaned down to whisper. "Never said I didn't."
I stilled as he smirked and walked away.
What the hell? Was he trying to scare me away from him?
"Uh, Skye?" Neveah said. "What was that about?"
I only sighed, shaking my head. "We'll go for coffee later, and then I'll explain everything to you."
I couldn't trust my mom or dad with this stuff, well because... I didn't want to tell them.
I just wanted to know who Sebastian really was, and I knew Neveah wouldn't really do anything about it, but she was ears, and that's all I needed.
