"WHAT?" I screamed.
Sebastian set his head against the wall. "See? This is why I didn't want to tell you."
"WHY WOULDN'T you want to tell me?!" I demanded. "The whole time I thought he was YOU!"
Sebastian chuckled. "Nope. Not me."
I sighed then, leaning against the wall as a sudden... weight lifted from my chest.
Wasn't I supposed to be horrified? That his twin brother was the cliché evil twin?
No, I wasn't... I wasn't because...
Because now I knew that it wasn't Sebastian.
Sebastian gazed over at me; brows arched. "You look like you're panicking... but at the same time you're smiling. It's scaring me a little."
I looked up at him. "I'm supposed to be scared...."
"But?" he prompted.
"But this whole time there was a doubt in my mind that it was you," I told him, feeling energetic suddenly.
"And you're not scared because...." He trailed off when I shot my head up.
I then bolted straight for him, and he yelped when I jumped up and tackled him.
When he steadied himself, he arched his brows when I hoisted myself up and wrapped my arms and legs around him.
"Am I heavy?" I asked him.
He sputtered his lips. "That sounds like a trick question?"
"It's not," I assured him with a smile.
He smirked back, clearly amused. "No, you're not."
"Good." And I leaned forward, clasping out lips together.
He closed his eyes in response, letting me lean further into him as I lost myself.
He tasted so good... so... good.
Why was he so intoxicating?
But I just pulled back, hovering my face over his as my breath heated his cheeks. "I'm not scared because..." I locked eyes with him, "because it isn't you."
I pecked his lips again, and he closed his eyes in response, but I just pulled back.
"Can I tell you something?" I whispered.
"You can tell me anything," he said in response, tucking some hair away from my face.
My lashes fluttered as I gained the strength to respond, "Don't laugh at me."
"I'll try not to," he said; amused.
I gave him a look, but I just sighed, trying to find my words. "I don't think we can be friends...."
His eyes locked on mine. "Why...?"
"Because..." I said, hesitating a little, "because I think...."
"Yes?" he inquired.
Should I tell him? Shouldn't I tell him?
Yes.
No.
Yes.
No.
Maybe.
Would he laugh? Would I cry?
I didn't want to cry.
Should I tell him?
Yes.
No.
Yes.
Maybe.
Goddamn it!
He pressed his forehead to mine. "Spit it out, Angel."
Maybe I should've... Maybe... Yes. Yes, I was going to.
"Why don't you think we can't be friends?" he prompted.
I looked back over at him, watching his gaze for a moment.
But I finally whispered, "Because I think I'm in love with you."
His eyes reflected something odd in them, as if he didn't expect me to say that, and he drew back slightly in shock.
"Too early...?" I whispered.
He stared at me for a moment.
But a wide smile spread across his face. "No, I've been waiting ages for you to say that."
I blinked, processing his words. "So...."
"Angel," Sebastian said, leaning forward to press our foreheads together, "I've been in love with you since the first day I set eyes on you."
My lips parted. "Really?"
He nodded, smirking. "Really. Why else would I call you 'Kiki' and 'Angel' and 'Sweetheart.'"
I shrugged. "I though you were British."
He gave me a look.
I laughed then. "No, I honestly thought you were just being friendly."
"Friends cuddle with each other?" he inquired.
I felt embarrassment heat my cheeks at his words, and I shied away for a moment. "Uhm... Sometimes."
"You're so dumb," he said, tipping his head back.
I gave him a look; somehow not angry with the name he called me. "You're an idiot. You should've told me earlier that he's your evil twin. I thought he was like some separate personality of you or something; like he was your vengeful side that morphed into a human being. Something that wanted to hurt me."
Sebastian laughed then. "That's not possible."
"Anything is possible," I quipped, tipping my chin up.
He just gave me a lazy smile, and I glanced back down at him.
"By the way," I said carefully, untangling myself from him until I stood on my own, "can you... can I ask you something?"
"Shoot," he replied.
I gazed up. "You said in your story that there was a weapon that you created from the heavens... What is it?"
He smiled. "It's a dagger, or a type of metal that can be formed into many weapons, but many just use them as daggers."
I tipped my head to the side curiously.
"It starts out as a hilt," he said, stepping over to a shelf in the training room, and he just picked up some small pole that had odd bandages wrapped over it, like the hilt of a sword. "Like this," he said, showing it to me, "but it has an activation word in Latin. Ignite. Watch this."
He held the sword at a small distance, making me step back as if he was going to shoot fire at me.
But he just whispered, "Accendo."
And a light slid out from the hilt, making my lips part as I felt it reflect off my eyes, and it molded into a blade-like form.
Though it never solidified into metal; it was the shape of a blade, though it was white, like a glowing lamp, and I gasped when fire shot out from it, covering the blade in gold, burning flames.
I settled back into myself, eyes glistening when I saw white, angelic dagger covered in flames... I'd never seen something like it.
It was beautiful.
"You slice this into anything," Sebastian told me, locking eyes with me finally. "It's going to burn alive from the inside out. Angel or not."
My lips parted, and he just gazed back to the dagger, "Decendo."
The fire dissipated, the white in the blade vanishing like it was made of air...
Until finally it was just a hilt again.
He flipped it in his hand, smirking as he stepped back over to the shelf and set it back on it again.
I kept watching him as he glanced back at me, hands in his pockets. "You look like you want to ask me something," he said.
I took a step forward. "When I found you training that night..." I said, "were you practicing with that pole?"
He nodded.
I stepped to him before stopping in front of him. "I'm in danger, right?"
"A lot of danger," he corrected.
"Then... if I can learn how to fight for my life and destroy my enemies... then I'd be safe?"
He gave me a look. "Where is this going?"
"Train me?" I said, pressing my hands together. "Please?"
He sighed, tipping his head back in amusement. "You just want to watch people explode with that dagger, don't you?"
I dropped my arms then, sighing. "Maybe."
He just smiled, throwing his head forward. "Fine."
I gazed up, eyes sparkling. "Really?"
"Really."
"May I ask why?" I whispered.
He just chuckled. "You want to learn to protect yourself, for one," he explained, "and for two?" He smirked. "I want you to support your dangerous desires. If you want to watch people explode, then so be it."
I grinned evilly.
"It's going to take a while before I'm letting you hold that dagger," he said to me, smirking. "And I'm not going to play nice, so you better be ready."
I nodded then. "I'm ready."
