"Damn must be some heavy stuff." Hawks chuckled.
"You could say it's out of this world." Sy chuckled back.
"Well then Kid," he looked down to the still mildly panicking Rena, "where are you staying? I can give you a lift home then we can talk there." It's less likely anything will be bugged there. Hawks thought to himself.
"She's staying at the X Hotel," Sy replied for Rena.
"Sweet. I know where that's at, what floor? I'll meet you on the balcony. Probably not the best idea for me to walk in the front door with you." He smirked.
Hawks flew to where Rena was staying and set her down in front of the building. He took off to the sky to fly up to her room. Rena just stood there for a moment gathering herself back into her own body from flying several miles, above the clouds, with nothing but a pair of arms between her and the ground.
Once she composed herself she went up to her room and went inside. Of course, Hawks was already waiting on the balcony. He gave Rena an awkward wave and smile as she walked over to let him in.
Hawks walked in and looked around as he made his way to the sofa. He plopped down and made himself at home. Rena walked up to him holding out her hand, he looked at it and then up at her.
"The earpiece." She said with a glare.
Hawks chuckled as he removed the earpiece and handed it back to Rena. "You're kinda scary kid. Say I never caught your name?"
"It's Mystic." She replied as she put the earpiece away and then called Sy again on her phone.
"Jeez Kid, are you still mad at me for the whole flying thing? Didn't realize you were scared of heights." He said jokingly.
"I'm not scared of heights. I just wasn't expecting you to pick me up and fly me several miles, with only your arms between me and a god knows how far of a drop." Rena scoffed.
"I wouldn't have let you fall. You were totally safe." He replied with a cocky grin.
"I'd still prefer a warning next time," Rena said as she moved to sit on the chair across from the sofa, placing the phone down on the coffee table.
"Oh, there's a next time?" He said, wiggling his eyebrows.
Rena just sighed "Moving on... Sy would you care to do the explaining?"
"Sure. Can you hit the hologram button on your device?" Sy said, and Rena moved to hit the button on the phone. Sy was then displayed as a small hologram coming out of the phone.
"Whoa that's some pretty fancy tech you got there," Hawks said with a sparkle in his eye, leaning forward and resting his arms on his knees.
"Thanks. I created it myself. Now down to business. I'm going to get straight to the point. Sir Hawks, what do you think about parallel worlds?"
"Parallel worlds?" He said with a puzzled look glancing up at Rena who just had a serious look on her face.
"Yes, parallel worlds," Sy said, waiting for his answer.
"Are you asking me if I believe they exist?" He said looking back at the Sy hologram.
"Yes. I'm asking because Mystic and myself are from worlds parallel to yours." She said simply.
"What?" He replied with an unbelievable expression, glancing between Rena and Sy. "This is a joke, right? You can't possibly expect me to believe that."
"It's the truth, whether you want to believe it or not," Rena said, shrugging her shoulders.
"Ok. Say it is true, then what are you doing here? And why would you be spying on the League?" He said with a scowl on his face.
"We can't tell you that yet until we can determine if we can trust you. One of our contacts said that we should connect with you. So tell us, why you, over the other heroes?"
Hawks paused for a moment thinking to himself. He still wasn't sure he believed their story. Do they really expect me to believe this girl is from another world? That's impossible. That shit only happens in movies. I need more confirmation before I can just spill the details of my mission to strangers.
He looked up to Rena whose face never faltered, and back down to Sy who also was remaining serious.
"Sorry, but I'm going to need a little more proof before I can tell you anything." He finally said.
"Hm. Well, there's not much else we can disclose to you until we can know if we can trust you completely."
"We're at a stalemate then. If neither side can trust the other, how can we prove ourselves?" Hawks said as he sat back against the couch.
"How about this.. can you tell us in one word if you are on the side of the heroes or villains? That spares you from telling us important details but tells us if we can trust you with our information. So who is it? Heroes or Villains?" Rena suggested moving her elbows to her knees as she leaned forward resting her chin on her hands.
Hawks looked at her for a moment, into her eyes. Suddenly his hawk instincts kicked in and he got a little flustered. Why did he suddenly feel a wave of security? He had been so on edge lately but suddenly he felt a calmness. A sense of serenity, telling him that he could trust them. That he should trust them.
So he replied with one simple word.
"Neither."
Rena smiled. "Well Sy, I think that answer is solid enough. Should we let Versa handle the next part?"
"Sure why not," Sy said with a grin.
Suddenly Rena's hair turned blonde and her eyes turned to gold. Hawks dropped his jaw and stared in disbelief.
Versa looks up at Hawks and gives a soft smile. "Hello, I'm Versa."
"Um. Hi?" Hawks said questionably. Ok, maybe they weren't kidding about the parallel worlds.
"Versa, could you tell our new friend here about the guardians and the situation," Sy spoke up, gaining the attention of Versa.
"Of course. I could just show him my memories if that would be easier?"
"You can do that?!" Sy and Hawks said at the same time.
"Well of course." Versa giggled. "Here, all I do is place my hand on his head and I can directly send my memories into his mind."
"Well that's news to me but that makes this a lot easier then. Well, what do you say Hawks?"
Hawks looked between Sy and Versa, still trying to grasp how she had just suddenly changed in front of him.
"As ready as I'll ever be I guess." He finally replied, adjusting himself forward on the couch.
Versa rose and walked towards the hero, placing her hand on his head. She began to transfer her memories of the trial, her meeting with Rena, them traveling to Sy's world, Fairy Tail's world, and finally when they traveled to the present world. Once she was done she removed her hand and went back to her seat.
Hawk just sat there, lost in the images that just flooded his mind. He was at a loss for words. After a few minutes, Sy finally broke the silence.
"So, is that enough to prove we are telling the truth about parallel worlds?" She said with a smirk 'I told you so'.
Hawks finally looked up at the hologram Sy, up to Versa, then back to Sy.
"Yeah, I suppose that does confirm that you ladies are from another world. Though, it's still hard to process." He said, running a hand through his hair, leaning back into the couch. "But what exactly do you need me for?"
"We can get to that after you give us a little more information from your side."
He chuckled, "I suppose that's only fair. However, what I'm about to tell you can not leave this room." His face turned serious.
"Understandable. You have no worries there, we have no reason to interfere with the happenings of this world. We are just here for the guardian, nothing else. Versa, let's bring Mystic back for this. Thank you for your assistance."
"Of course!" Versa chirped as her hair changed back to brown and Rena opened her blue eyes once more.
Hawks just stared in amazement before he was broken out of the spell.
"Well? Let's hear it, hero boy~." Rena smirked.
