Mystic's Earth Form
The training ground was high up in the mountains, surrounded by towering peaks and rugged cliffs. The air was crisp and cool, and the sky stretched out in a brilliant blue expanse above them. The sound of the wind whistling through the rocky terrain added a sense of wildness to the scene.
Rena watched poor Finral run from Smurik's relentless attacks, she couldn't help but smile. His training method seemed harsh, but she knew he was trying to get Finral to realize the true potential of his magic. Smurik would shoot waves of wind swords towards him, and Finral would just use his portals to escape. It was almost like a game of cat and mouse, with Finral darting through his portals, narrowly avoiding each gust of wind.
Eventually, Smurik decided to let Finral take a short break. Finral collapsed onto the rocky ground, panting heavily, while Smurik turned his attention to Rena. "Show me the will of your wind,” he commanded, his voice carrying a profound tone.
Rena hesitated for a moment, her eyes wide with confusion. "The what?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.
Finral, still catching his breath, sighed and explained, "He means your magic. He's not always straightforward with his words."
"Oh. Right..." Rena replied, her cheeks flushing slightly with embarrassment. She took a deep breath and opened her grimoire, the pages glowing with a soft, ethereal light. She began to channel her air magic, the wind swirling around her in a graceful dance.
She focused her energy, the air around her crackling with power. As she started to power up one of her strongest spells, the wind began to howl, and the loose stones on the ground trembled. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation, and even Finral, despite his exhaustion, watched in awe.
"You're doing great, Mystic!" Finral called out, his voice filled with encouragement.
Rena glanced at Finral and smiled, feeling a surge of confidence. She raised her hands, and the wind responded to her command, forming a powerful vortex around her. "This is for you!" she shouted, her voice carrying over the howling wind.
Smurik nodded approvingly. "Good, Mystic. Now, control it. Show me that you can harness the power of the wind, not just unleash it."
Rena took a deep breath, focusing her mind and energy. The vortex began to stabilize, the wild winds calming under her control. She directed the wind towards a nearby boulder, lifting it effortlessly into the air.
Finral watched in amazement. "Incredible... I didn't know she had that kind of power."
As Rena gently set the boulder back down, Smurik approached her, a rare smile on his face. "Well done, Mystic. You've shown me the will of your wind. I do wonder though, your magic feels almost familiar. Have we perhaps met before?"
Rena looked at him with slight confusion. What does he mean my magic feels familiar? “No, I don't believe we have.”
“Hm, very well. We can continue training. You should be free to breeze to the next spirit tomorrow.” he hummed as he started to play a melody on a leaf whistle.
“Um..”
“Yeah, he sort of just does that.” Finral sighed, already over the weird quirks this guy seemed to possess.
The following day Rena was training with the spirit guardian of Earth. She was already training two others, Mimosa of the Golden Dawn squad and the Captain of the Blue Rose, Charlotte. Sarado was an interesting trainer to say the least, but she had a friendly aura about her. When Rena showed Sarado her magic she was overly impressed.
“Wow! That's some strong magic you got there. I think if you get more intune with the Earth your mana could grow even more!” Sarado exclaimed.
“Intune with the Earth?” Rena questioned.
“YA know, you need to feel the Earth's natural mana. When you feel it you go BAM! and then you scoop it all up like WHOOSH! Then you're good to go!” Sarado grinned, moving her arms around as she spoke.
Rena looked at her confused. She heard giggling behind her and turned to see Mimosa.
“Don't worry, she gave us the same explanation.” Mimosa giggled.
“You're the newest member of the Black Bulls?” Charlotte asked her, she had a slight glare on her face.
She always seems to be glaring at me. Is it from the exam? They all seemed to think I was suspicious, which I guess I sort of was.
“Yes, I joined the Black Bulls.” Rena answered.
“Why did you? You don't have a crush on the captain do you?” She asked in a stern voice. Meanwhile in Charlotte's head… Oh my gosh. Another woman joined Yami’s squad. I hope she doesn't like him like that. I wish he would have come to the heart kingdom. Her inner monologue was soft compared to the look she was giving Rena.
“Crush?” Rena was slightly puzzled but then realizing the nature of the random question addiction to Charlotte's deminor, it clicked. “OH! OH heck no. I definitely do not! I like someone else. You have nothing to worry about.”
“Oh, really? That's a relief.” Charlotte softened her gaze. Wait, why did I say that's a relief? She's going to think I'm strange!
“Do you like someone else in the squad then?” Mimosa chimed in.
“Oh definitely not. The someone I like… is from my hometown.” Rena said, her face dropping into a frown at the thought. Great, just what I needed to think about.
“Ladies! Enough boy chatter, let's get back to training!” Sarado yelled.

That night Rena was resting in her room. She was feeling a lot more Intuned with her magic, but she started to feel a heavy weight on her shoulders. Something that wasn't there before.
“I wish I could go without my cloak. It's actually getting kind of hard to hold back.”
Rena? Are you okay?Versa suddenly spoke in Rena’s mind.
Oh Hey V, I'm okay. I'm not sure how much you've seen but we're in the heart kingdom now. I've been training my elements and I think I'm actually getting pretty strong.
I'm happy to hear that. I've been trying to do my own “training” to see if I can locate the remaining guardians in another way, but no luck.
Wait, how can you do that when we're bonded and I'm in control?
It's a very unused method but it's sort of like, hmm, lucid dreaming I guess?
But I thought guardians don't dream?
We don't but that's the simplest way to put it.
So have you been dormant or awake?
Essentially dormant but I think that's why it didn't work. I thought maybe if the other guardians tried the same thing we could make contact in that realm between realms but no such luck.
I'm sorry V, I'm sure that must be hard on you.
Not as hard as you taking on these missions. You know you don't have to do it, we could always move me to one of Sy’s androids.
I'm okay V, I promise. It's been a nice distraction. I don't have anyone waiting for me back home and I've met so many amazing people already. It almost feels like a dream sometimes. But then I remember what's at stake and reality hits. I may be only a human but I think that's what makes this a perfect fit. Humans will naturally fight for survival out of instinct. I'm just taking it upon myself to fight for everyone.
Rena, you have such a big heart. I think there are people waiting for you back home. I just hope this doesn't take that away from you.
People waiting for me? Nah, the closest people I have to friends are my coworkers at the shop. I guess some of the regulars would be almost friends too but they are just customers. Life will go on without me there.
Rena! Don't talk like that, they loved you!
Yeah but it's not the love I need the most. Anyway, before I go down that rabbit hole I think it's time for some rest. I've got training with Gaja tomorrow and something tells me he won't go easy. Goodnight, V.
Goodnight Rena, and I'm sorry.
Soon Rena had drifted off into sleep, but her dreams were once again interrupted by dreams from another.
