Rena walked in and the place was interesting to say the least. It looked like a run down castle that had been put back together wrong. In any other situation it would seem creepy but the way it was lit up with the members of this squad, you wouldn’t call it creepy.
“Well let me introduce you to the squad. Hey idiots! Gather around, We’ve got ourselves a new member.” Yami yelled out.
Rena was soon surrounded by the members that were there.
“Well you’ve met me but let me formally introduce myself. I’m Yami Sukehiro, Captain of the Black Bulls.”
The brunette with the green tips stepped up and grabbed Rena’s hand, bowing as he was about to place a delicate kiss “Ah NO!” He stepped back quickly and straightened up, putting one hand behind his head and the other on his hip. “Sorry. My name is Finral,”
“HAI, I'm Astea! And I’m going to be the next Wizard King!” The short boy introduced himself.
”I’m Noelle. It’s nice to have another girl on the squad.” The girl with purple pigtails said.
”I’m Gordon, we are going to be best friends” The pale guy with black around his eyes and mouth said softly.
”Hi I’m Charmy. You are really pretty.” A tiny girl said, she was surrounded by sheep that were…cooking?
“No one is as pretty as my angelic little sister.” Said a man holding a picture, blood running from his nose.
“Don’t mind him, That’s Gauche and I’m Vanessa.” A woman wearing very little, holding a bottle of wine said stumbling a little. She leaned over a shy looking girl with blue hair. “And this here is Grey.” The girl let out a soft “Hey” then covered her face mumbling ohmygosh over and over again.
The door to the hideout opened and in stepped a tall red head with a leather mask covering half his face. He has a sadistic looking grin but he somehow did not seem menacing at all. “Oh did we get a new rookie?”
”Yes, now introduce yourself you idiot,” Yami said, swinging at the kid but he dodged it and went to take a seat at the bar.
”The name is Zora,”
Before Rena could respond two more kids burst through the door bickering at each other. They stopped when they noticed Rena.
”Oh Hey! You came back with a new recruit. Hi I’m Magna.” Said a rugged looking kid with a Mohawk and purple sunglasses.
”And I’m Luck! Want to spar with me?” A wide eyed boy with a smile just as bright said a little too excitedly.
Suddenly, a bird Rena didn’t notice was sitting on top of Asia’s head flew up and transformed into a girl. She had short black hair and red eyes. “I’m Nero,” she said plainly.
”Well that’s just about everyone. There’s Henry, but he can’t hang around us as his magic absorbs our mana but he’s a good kid.”
“Ah well, It’s a pleasure to meet you all. My name is Mystic.” She said with a smile and a wave.
“Alright! Enough introductions. Let’s party!” Yami cheered.
Vanessa wobbled over to Rena and swung an arm around her shoulders. “Come on pretty lady, You look like you could use a drink!’
”Uh no thank you I don’t really—“ Rena tried to protest but it was in vain.
”Ah come on! Drink with me! Let’s get to know our newest member of the Black Bulls!” Vanessa cheered.
Oh no. This is not going to be an easy mission. She sighed to herself. At least they seem fun. They remind me of Fairy Tail. She thought with a smile. I guess a little fun wouldn’t hurt. Just need to be on my guard.
The party went on into the night and before she knew it everyone was sort of passed out on the floor or couch or tables. Rena didn’t drink much so she was still wide awake. She decided she needed some fresh air so she got up and stepped outside.
She was sitting in front of the hideout looking up at the stars. She didn’t notice someone coming out and was hovering behind her.
“You're an interesting chick, aren't YA? ” She heard the voice say.
She turned around and saw it was the red head with the mask, Zora. She wasn’t sure what to make of this guy but he seemed alright.
“What makes you say that?” She asked, curious as to what he could mean.
“You’ve got a strange vibe about you. I can feel you have very strong mana, you’re not royalty are you? Cause I can’t fucking stand royalty pricks,” He growled when he mentioned royalty.
Rena let out a small chuckle, “Oh I’m definitely not royalty. Where I’m from we don’t have things like that. Though, even if we did I wouldn’t be anywhere close to the top.” she sighed.
“Heh, good. Cause I’d have to knock you down a peg or two if you were,” He replied, then raised an eyebrow, “But what do you mean ‘where you're from’?”
OH crap, how did I slip up again already. “Um..It's kind of–” before she could reply they were interrupted by a booming voice.
“She’s from overseas. She’s here on a special mission, looking for a sword.” Yami said with his usual cigarette bobbing up and down.
“A special mission huh?” Zora looked back towards Yami. “Then why’d she join the squad?”
“A kid’s gotta make a living right? She joined the squad ‘cause I liked her. She’s got spunk and I can tell she’s got strong magical powers under that cloak.” he grinned.
“Wh-what do you mean?” Rena asked. Her cloak was supposed to hide her power level. Could he see through it?
“You’re ki is off the charts. That must mean you were blessed with mana, like that other kid, what’s his name, Yuna or sumthin’” Yami trailed off.
“Ki?” Rena had never heard of that before. Was it something special to this world?
“Ah yea, it’s a technique from my homeland. It allows the user to sense another person's attacks or movements. With proper training one can even sense if a person is lying.” Yami explained.
“Oh, so is that why you allowed me into your squad?” Rena asked.
“Well, partly. I also just like you kid, you seem like fun.” He smirked.
He calls me Kid, like someone else. I miss Hawks. Though, his ‘kid’ nickname seems different.
“Anyway, we’ve got a captains meeting tomorrow to discuss who will be going to the Heart Kingdom to train. I’m sending the rookies, probably Finral and Luck. Would you like to go with them?” Yami asked.
“Training? Um, I'm not sure. I’m supposed to be–”
“Looking for a sword right? Well, I think the sword in question is that kids.” Yami chuckled.
“Who?”
“Asta. That kid has absolutely no mana but he still got a grimoire and with it an anti-magic sword.” he explained.
“Anti-magic?” Rena started to think.
“Yeah, he has 3 swords actually, but you’ll have to have him explain what they all do. So I figured since he is getting shipped off to the heart kingdom You’d like to join them.” he continued.
Are those what Ryker is after? Why would he be after anti-magic swords? Unless… it’s to stop me! Rena jolted up into a standing position, eyes wide.
“Whoa, you alright there kid?” Yami asked.
Rena snapped out of her realization. “Oh yes, sorry. I’ll go with them. I think you might be right. That they are after the anti-swords. But, that still leaves the question of who sent us that coded message.” Rena started mumbling to herself.
Yami clapped his hands together, “Great! I’ll let Julius know you are going. Night kid,”
Yami headed back inside and Rena left out a sigh. I need to let Sy know about the swords.
She pulled her phone out and called Sy to let her know.
“Sy? Hey… Yeah I was able to get into the squad. It's funny, they remind me of Fairy Tail… Ah also there is a kid here who had anti-magic swords. Do you think that's what Ryker could be after?... Why do you think he'd need those? Would it be able to stop my magic?.... I see. I'll make sure he doesn't take them then. Seems I'm on another protection mission then…oh I'm apparently going to be going with them to the heart kingdom, they will be doing some sort of training… Mhm. I'll keep you updated. Bye.” She hung up then turned around to go back inside but she had forgotten that Zora was behind her.
“Oh! Jeez, you scared me. Um. How long have you been there?”
“I never left,” he said with a creepy grin, “Yeah, you are definitely interesting for sure. I'm not sure where you came from, but you better not be bringing trouble to our front door. We do enough of that ourselves.”
“I assure you I'm not.im trying to do the opposite in fact.” Rena said standing her ground.
“Hmp we'll see.” He said then walked off into the night.
