Another week had gone by and it was finally Saturday. Rena had spent the week at the school Teaching the classes during the day, then when she could she made use of their training room. Being careful no one saw how she used her magic or her weapon. She needed the training but did not need any questions about her abilities. It felt strange staying on campus and not in the Hotel, but she felt a little safer given all of the school's security. She had a few conversations with some of the teachers. She decided that she had written Mr. Aizawa off too quickly. He was a great teacher, just a little odd but those always make the best ones. Present Mic was, well too loud for her and Midnight was interesting. She didn’t see much of that All Might guy again but she did learn, much unwillingly, all she needed to know about All Might from her student Midorya.
He was the number one Hero until a fight with the villain All for One injured him and ultimately pushed him into retirement. She found it interesting and maybe a coincidence that their names seemed to coalline in a way, but she brushed it off not wanting to think too much about it. It wasn’t her business and he had said his quirk was a secret. That villain was behind bars anyway.
Rena was on her way back to the hotel to meet up with Hawks and Sy (virtually of course) to discuss the plans behind tonight's meeting with Dabi. Everyone found it extremely odd but agreed that it would be worth it to entertain the villain. Hawks insisted that he tailed them in case anything went wrong but Rena thought that wasn’t such a good idea.
She finally made it back to her room and Hawks was already inside sitting on the couch watching some TV.
“Well make yourself at home I guess.” She chuckled as she came inside and set her stuff down in the kitchen.
“Not my fault you left the balcony unlocked. That’s dangerous, you know. Anyone could break in.” He said, clicking the TV off and turning his head back.
“No, not anyone, just some stray birds flying around,” she smirked. Besides, we’re on the 10th floor. Who would be able to break in this high up?
“Hey! That’s offensive!” He said, faking a shocked expression.
“Is it though?” She chuckled, making her way to sit in her usual spot. “Alright, let's get this meeting started.” She said as she dialed Sy’s number, hitting the hologram button.
“Hello Mystic, Hawks. Glad to see everyone. How was the school Mystic?” Sy started after she answered.
“Oh, it’s going good. Most of the students are doing great. There’s always a few that struggle, but that’s to be expected.” Rena replied, thinking back on her week.
“Did you hear anything of interest?” Sy asked.
“Um, nothing that I think would be linked to the League or be of any importance,” Rena responded.
“Well, that’s a shame. At least it’s working as a cover for the time being though. Hawks, what about you, hear anything else at the mansion?” She asked, looking towards Hawks.
“Not much, though they did finally let me into their special meeting room and I got to see ol’ Shiggy firsthand finally. He does not look so good. It pretty much just confirmed most of the information that I had learned from before, though they left out important parts. Probably still don’t trust me entirely.” He spoke looking bored.
“Well, we at least have an idea that we're looking for a hospital. The problem is that they have more than one they seem to have under their influence. I’m still trying to narrow them down so we can’t make a move yet. Let me know if you hear anything in regards to which one they are using, Hawks”
Hawks nodded in agreement. “Yes ma’am.”
“Now for tonight, Mystic. You’re meeting Dabi. There’s no telling if he will be alone or have company so be on your guard. You have your “Hero License” so if anything goes wrong you can use your abilities, but it’d be best to keep them to a minimum if you can. Don’t want to draw attention to yourself. Please just be careful. He’s unpredictable.” Sy warned.
“I still think I should go with you.” Hawks grumped.
“I know but it’s best if I do this alone. It will raise suspicion if you're with me.” Rena replied.
“I still don’t like it. Will you at least take a feather with you?” He asked, his leg bouncing up and down nervously.
Rena sighed “Fine. I’ll take a feather if that makes you feel better.”
“Yes. It does. I can’t let my best friend go in without a backup plan.” He smiled.
“Whatever,” Rena said, rolling her eyes.
“Well, we all have our assignments. Keep in touch via mobile if anything goes wrong. Mystic, be sure to wear your contacts, I’ll be watching just in case anything goes wrong. Let me know ASAP if anything changes. Bye,” Sy said, seemingly in a hurry.
“Well, she seemed quick to dip out,” Rena said, picking up the device and putting it in her pocket. “So have you figured out how you’re going to tell the Heros?”
“Yup! Encoded message.” He said holding up a book.
“Ooo So spy-like. You should be a secret agent instead of a Hero.” Rena chuckled.
“Nah my wings would give me away too easily. Anyway, you’ve got time before you're meeting. Do you want to go on a walk with me? I’m going to see if I can catch Endeavor and hand him this book. Hopefully, he can decode the message quickly.”
Rena agreed and headed downstairs to meet Hawks up front. They were walking around the city and Rena got a look firsthand at how popular Hawks was. He was constantly getting stopped for pictures, autographs, or fangirls trying to give him their numbers. Rena found it quite amusing. Suddenly they heard screams from off in the distance. Hawks perked up, his wings flinching and he shot Mystic a look saying “Be right back” and he took off into the sky.
Rena was a little confused until she noticed a feather flying around her, it started moving in the direction Hawks went so she decided to follow it, realizing he was leading her to where he had gone. It took her about 5 minutes to catch up and when she did she saw Hawks walking up to Endeavor and 3 of her students. She remembered they were completing their work studies this week with their Hero Agencies.
“Uh! Nice to meet you, sir! I’m from UA High’s hero course. I’m in class 1-A. My name is Izuku Midoriya!” the kid was introducing himself to Hawks.
“Yeah. You’re the kid who destroys his fingers. I’ve heard about you from Tsukuyomi. Man, I was hoping I’d get to work with him again soon but not today.” Hawks replied.
“Where is Tsukuyomi? Isn’t he continuing his work Study at your agency?” Midoriya asked.
“I pawned him off on my sidekicks to train for the moment. I feel bad, but I’ve got a ton of stuff on my plate and don’t have time for him.” Hawk said awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.
Bakugo chimed in with his usual scowl “You may be quick, but I was still faster than you.”
“Miss Mystic! What are you doing here?!” Midoriya yelped, noticing Rena walking up to the group.
“She’s helping me hand these out! You happen to have read this book?” Hawks asked as he held up a book called “Meta Liberation War”.
Rena watched as Hawks gave his little speech about the book, giving it to Endeavor and even to the three students nearby. He had a serious look on his face when he was talking to Endeavor. Mystic could tell he was trying to say all that he could without using words.
“You should at least look over the highlighted lines. Read them closely. I recommend the second part.” He said as he spread out his wings. “Do your best with the work studies, all four of you!” and he flew off.
Rena watched as Endeavor flipped through the book, with an extra level of seriousness, she could tell the gears were turning. Hopefully, he can decode Hawks's message. Guess it’s time to head back and get ready for my late-night rendezvous with an infamous villain. She thought as she waved bye to the students, wishing them well on their studies like Hawks had, and headed back to her hotel.
Bakugo glared as she walked away, thinking to himself it was a little odd that their substitute teacher was hanging out with Hawks, handing out this weird book.
“What’s wrong Bakugo?” Todoroki asked him.
Bakugo continued to stare in the direction that Mystic had walked off to. “Don’t you think it’s weird?”
“Think what’s weird? This book?” Todoroki asked, looking at the book Hawks had given them.
Bakugo turned to look at Shoto, “No you dumb Icy-Hot, it’s weird that our new teacher is hanging out with Hawks.”
Midoryia chimed in, “I don’t think it’s that weird. They seem to be of a similar age so maybe they know each other.”
Bakugo just gave an annoyed glare before his face dulled, lost in thought “It’s still weird though. Something seems off about it.”
The thought dropped as the trio continued to the Endeavor Agency to do their week of work studies.
