"It's okay..." Sebastian soothed as I lay on an infirmary bed, staring slightly off into space as he lay next to me, soothing the hair out of my face. "You're okay."
I just lazily stared at his chest, wondering if he'd let me sleep for a million years.
After I got injected, Sebastian wouldn't let me sleep no matter how tired I was; he just carried me to the infirmary in his mansion and Doctor Jen did some tests on me. He wouldn't let me sleep until he knew what North injected me with.
"Can I close my eyes?" I asked him as he continued soothing me. "Just for a little?"
He shook his head, lightly tipping my chin up. "Keep your eyes on me, okay? I'll let you sleep once I figure out what he did to you." His eyes darkened. "Please, listen for once. I don't want you going to sleep and never waking up."
I just nodded, settling under him as he kept brushing his hand up and down my back.
"You're more alert and aware." He watched me. "So can you tell me... what happened?" he whispered.
Nausea swelled up my throat at the memory, and I swallowed it down, breathing for a moment.
"You can tell me," he promised, "I won't blame you."
I just sighed and weakened into the bed. "I woke up... tied to a chair with devil's whip pinning my wrists behind me," I told him.
He nodded when I hesitated. "Go on."
And I told him everything; what happened when North stood in the doorway, how I bit him when he kissed me, I fought him when he licked the blood off me, how I tried to escape but he kept throwing me like a ragdoll; into tables, chairs, walls, floors, and how I kept trying to fight him, but he was faster than me.
Sebastian's eyes darkened when my eyes burned with tears, and he lightly brushed one away from my eye when it slipped, and I glanced up at him.
His face was pale—white as a sheet—though his eyes were hard, covered in darkness... anger.
He only growled. "I'll kill him."
I only smiled, chuckling lowly. "We all want to kill him, Sebastian. The question is if we can kill him."
He gazed down at me, eyes softening.
But I just locked eyes with him. "I'm... really tired."
"I know," he replied, brushing some hair away from my face, "and I know that the meds that healed your wounds aren't helping, but... please stay awake for me, baby, okay?"
I nodded, settling back into the bed. "Can you keep rubbing my back?"
He shuffled forward, gently setting his hand on my back, and my lashes fluttered when he started caressing.
"Good girl," he soothed, pressing a kiss at the top of my head. "You're a prize fighter, you know. I'd never seen someone give North such damage before."
I giggled, making him smile. "He damaged me, too."
Sebastian's eyes softened. "I know, and... I'm sorry."
I then gazed up at him. "Sebastian... he kidnapped me by possessing me; is he still in my head?"
He shook his head, smiling softly. "I got him out." He poked my nose. "Again."
I giggled, once more. "Thank you."
He just leaned down and lightly pressed his lips to mine.
My lashes fluttered shut, and I just breathed for a moment.
He pulled away then, pressing another kiss to my forehead before pulling me against him.
But a sudden knock on the door made us glance up.
It was Doctor Jen, and her lips thinned, and I gulped down something hard, heart thudding against my chest as she stopped in front of Sebastian and I.
She didn't look pleased... that wasn't a good sign.
"What is it?" Sebastian urged. "What did the tests say?"
Doctor Jen sighed, settling in a chair next to the infirmary bed, and I tried to sit up, but Sebastian pulled me back down, giving me a look that said "I want you comfy. Don't move."
"Let me start with this," Doctor Jen said, leaning on her knees as she set a clipboard on the table, "her life is not in danger."
Sebastian sighed in relief, tipping his head back.
"Although..." she said slowly, "what he injected into her wasn't good either."
Sebastian glanced up, and I stared, heart stilling at the stern look on her face.
"North injected Skye with high amounts of daemivenom," she told us, making Sebastian stiffen. "Since it was injected straight into her system, it caused her immune system to fight it, but after a while, it got used to it." She pushed her glasses up her nose. "But... Sebastian... if her blood drips on your skin... it will burn—badly. It would be like someone dropping lava on you. The feeling is not pleasant."
He looked back to the ground, breaths shortening.
Doctor Jen then looked up to me, and I shrank back at her kind smile. "I know this is a very personal topic, Skye, but... are you a virgin?"
The words hit me like a battering ram.
I was not expecting... that.
"Uhh..." I said as Sebastian cast me a curious look, and I felt my cheeks burn a bright red, "yes... Uh... yes."
She sighed then, setting her arms on her knees as she gazed up at Sebastian. "I would recommend against intercourse, then. If her blood touches you, it will be lethal." She looked back down at me as my face grew redder. "I know this is an odd topic and it's embarrassing, but you two are close so I just had to warn you, alright?"
I nodded numbly.
"I can still touch her skin, right?" Sebastian asked. "Like snuggle, kiss... that kind of stuff?"
"Yes," Doctor Jen said, nodding with a small smile, "just don't let her blood touch you."
He nodded then, glancing down at me. "You were tired. You wanna sleep now?"
"I would like her to stay in here for the rest of the night," Doctor Jen spoke up. "I just want to check in on her every once and a while to make sure she's okay."
Sebastian nodded, looking back down at me and opening his arms. "Come here, Angel."
I numbly scooted into his hold, and he wrapped his arms around me, burying his face in my hair as I closed my eyes tightly.
"Shhh..." he soothed, holding me tighter. "I got you, Angel. I got you."
