Skye
"Thanks, mom," I said, smiling as I did my homework on the kitchen counter.
"Don't stay up too late, okay?" mom said over the phone. "We won't be home until late. Boss called another meeting, of course."
"Of course," I replied, clicking my math equation into the calculator. "I feel like you should expect that by now."
"Yeah..." she said, "probably. Well, I gotta go. Love you, Honey."
"Love you, mom," I said, pressing the "end-call" button.
I sighed and grabbed my earbuds from their case, pressing them in my ears while clicking my favorite playlist.
Despite the music, I could barely focus on my math homework...
My mind was racing.
Health education was the second class today, and the other two went by quicker... and I hadn't seen Sebastian since.
I wondered what he was doing—I wondered if he always hid in the shadows—because this was entirely confusing to me.
Was I seriously letting a man I didn't know crawl through my window every night?
Honestly... how long had he been doing this? Was this why he continuously asked me to be quiet?
He didn't want my parents to hear.
I squinted down at my paper as I boxed the answer to my calculous problem.
I didn't understand what his motive was.
I knew I came up with the "I'm dreaming" thing, so it might've been natural that he played along... but this had been going on for months at the very least...
Why the hell was he showing now? This was insane. Was he just messing with me?
But I just boxed the last answer and shut my workbook, staring off into the distance as pop music played into my ear buds.
Maybe... maybe he was messing with me.
Maybe he overheard me talking about it to my friends and he was just messing with me.
Why, though? For jokes and laughs?
And why did he look so... menacing?
I thought harder.
And if this wasn't real... why did he say in my "dream"... that if I didn't make things thrilling, he would?
It made sense whether or not I wanted to believe it... Last night—if it really happened—he told me he would make things thrilling, and today at school, he finally showed his face.
Sebastian...
And he did.
He made things thrilling.
Did I like it? No. Sebastian was giving me weird vibes, and it was freaking me out.
He looked... horrifying.
Like he was a monster of some sort.
I gazed up then, staring at the clock on the wall to find it blinking "11:00" over and over again.
I sighed, putting my face in my hands.
What I would do...?
I gazed up, pulling my earbuds out.
I would lock down the house tonight, and then he wouldn't be able to come through my window, would he? And I would stay awake all night to make sure Sebastian didn't enter the house.
I had school tomorrow, I knew... but I needed to see what was really happening.
So, I stood, leaving my workbook on the counter and slipped my phone into my jeans pocket, and after, I made my way to the garage door, locked it, then secured the front door as well as all main level windows.
After that, I gathered my school stuff and walked upstairs—to my bedroom—and placed my books and pencils on my bed.
I then went to the bathroom to brush my teeth, and finally scraped my hair back into a bun.
After that, I changed into shorts and a T-shirt, finally stepping out of my bathroom and into my bedroom.
I gazed around, lips pressed into a thin line despite the panic creeping up my throat.
I needed to act strong. That was how I would get through this.
Strong, Skye, strong.
I then stepped over to my window to make sure it was locked... but I froze.
There was a figure standing below on the ground of my neighbor's backyard, and my eyes widened when I heard faint yelling of the neighbor as he ran from the house... and then the figure pulled a gun.
I stilled.
Five shots burst through the houses, and I screamed, running from my window and catching my phone.
Hands shaking, I dialed 9-1-1, pressing the phone to my ear as I ran back to the window...
But the neighbor's body and the figure were gone.
Like they never existed.
Breathing shallowly, I took the phone away from my ear and ended the call, everything inside me twisting and turning.
What?
But I just ended up doing something stupid, and I threw on my jacket and slippers, running down the stairs at light speed before stopping at the front door of my neighbor.
I slammed my fist against the wood, tapping my shoe impatiently as the silence out here made me feel hollow.
But the front door parted, and I gazed up, finding a women—Miss J—standing there.
"Oh," she said, smiling, "hello, Skye. Can I help you with something?"
I stared.
She was okay?
"Is your husband home?" I questioned, voice shaking.
"Oh, yes, he's sitting on the couch right now, passed out."
I gazed further in the home to find Mister J sitting down, completely unconscious as the sounds of the TV echoed from the room.
What...?
"Uhm..." I said then, gazing back up, "okay. Thank you."
She just smiled. "Are you okay? Do you want some tea or hot chocolate?"
I shook my head, smiling. "No, that's fine. I'll go now."
I then stepped down the porch steps, breath shaking as I made my way up to my front door.
After entering, I just shut and locked it, sliding down onto the floor as the familiar horror consumed me.
I was going crazy.
Something was wrong with me.
I was going crazy.
I just stepped over to the couch and sat down, breathing shallowly.
And I gazed up.
I would stay awake tonight... because I still needed to see if Sebastian was messing with me or not.80Please respect copyright.PENANAN3NDfJdQfG

Hello! What do you think? Is this thriller enough? because it gets worse.
How was your day, also?
