"Sir, we have received a transmission from the Nu shuttle. Captain Kardo's squad has made it inside the enemy's ship. They are clear to carry on the mission."
A ghost of a smile played upon Admiral Wulff Yularen's mustached face. "Good! Now everything is going according to the plan. All our part requires is the occupation of the enemy's attack force so they won't learn what is really transpiring until it is far too late."
"The Seps don't know what the clones are capable of until they learn it the hard way." The clone crew man smirked playfully. "Watch closely. The dreadnought will be scrap metal floating in space in the blink of an eye. "
Yularen chuckled. "There is no need to boast. I am perfectly aware of what you clones are capable of. I have seen it with my own eyes during several campaigns against the Confederacy. However, this doesn't mean I want you you to go blowing things up on sight. You never know what we could find among the enemy ships."
The clone saluted him. "I am quite aware of the significance of intelligence that could be used against the CIS. We are clones, not clankers. We are free thinkers after all."
The crew then took up positions to assist the infiltration team as they penetrated the enemy ship's interior.
---
"Hey! You are not supposed to be here! Securit-"
Before the droid in the hangar could alert the others to their presence, Captain Kardo took him out with a shot of his side pistol. He stepped out of the shuttle and after a cursory glance of the hangar to search for potential threats, motioned for his team to follow.
"Move it, troopers! Let's take this dreadnought."
Not needing to be reminded twice, the crew of several troopers, each having a special design of their helmets to make them distinguishable from typical clones, poured out of the shuttle like ants and prepared to storm the ship. The gunner and the pilot stayed behind to guard the it in case they needed to make a hasty retreat if things took a turn to the south. Drawing their weapons, then clone special ops infiltration crew came upon two battle droids guarding the entrance to the rest fo the ship.
"Hold it ri-"
The droid never got to finish its sentence as two shots silenced him and his companion.
"Press on and split up!" Kardo ordered. "We will take this ship at all cost!"
"For the Republic!"
The special troopers dispersed throughout the Patriot's Fist to see what they could find.
---
From his spot near the window, Obi-Wan glanced over to where the droids were scrambling over the controls of the dreadnought. One of them shouted frantically over the comlink. Obi-Wan didn't catch his words, but figured that something had gone amiss. One of the droids rose from his post and ran over to Grievous, chattering away. The way the mechanical figure's tone sounded made the matter sound urgent.
"Urgh!"Grievous snarled as he slammed his clawed hand onto the unfortunate droid's body, crushing him. "How could this happen?"
"Problem, General?" Obi-Wan stepped forward.
Grievous growled as he gazed upon his former rival. "It appears we have lost contact with several of my command droids spread out among the ship. I suspect we have unwanted guests aboard. Perhaps you could prove useful here, yes?"
Obi-Wan felt a chill go down his spine. "Whatever is it that you need me to do?"
"You and the bounty hunter can go check out whatever is happening out there. Greet the guests, but make sure they are no threat to the Confederacy of Independent System's leaders. Neutralize them if needed."
Out of the corner of his eye, Obi-Wan noticed the Ubbese, recognizable by his sand-colored cloak and armor, step beside him and nod, acknowledging Grievous's orders. He then raised his E-11 blaster, surely acquired from raids his kind carry out on unsuspecting travelers, and motioned for the Jedi to follow him.
I suppose this beats being a cyborg general's prisoner and waiting to see where fate leads me. I wonder who could have infiltrated Grievous's personal ship? Surely, it is one of the most intensely guarded space vehicles in the galaxy.
There was only one way to find out who was powerful enough to infiltrate a spaceship such as the Patriot's fist. Kenobi suspected that commandos may be involved and the thought of facing them gave him chills. He had witnessed firsthand how competent and ferocious they were in the line of duty and harbored second thoughts of joining the bounty hunter as a result. Even Jedi would agree that squaring off against them would be no different than opening a can of worms.
"You coming or what?"
"Straight away!" Obi-Wan dashed over to the bounty hunter, who was fingering his weapon impatiently. He then slipped it into ready position as the Jedi linked up with him.
"Now, we will take the shortest route to the Council's quarters. Make no mistake, the infestation may have spread onto other parts of the ship, but we have to make sure it doesn't affect an important aspect of it. That would be the cabin where the CIS council is quartered in. Be on the top of your game. Got it?"
---
"Double time! Go! Move it, troopers!"
Captain Kardo and two of his lieutenants made a dash down the hall toward the cabins as his team provided cover fire against the assassin droids. Red lasers streaked through the blue-gray hall like speeding birds as several droids crumbled under the assault. Blastyrre, the team's heavy, trained his MG fire on the droids that had swarmed into the halls like ants.
"That is what I call roasting clankers!" The tall clone, his armor a swirl of red, blue, green ,and some orange dotted here and there, shouted.
Suddenly, the alarms blared while red lights flashed across the ship. Cursing to himself, Kardo had knew that the MG blasters would set off the alarms , attracting clankers toward them like flies on bantha fodder.
"Attention squad!" Captain Kardo switched on his comm."Our mission has been compromised. We must improvise. I repeat, we must take this ship even at the cost of our own lives. For the Republic!"
Kardo whirled around and used his blaster to break the neck of a commando droid that tried to take him unawares before emptying his blaster fire into the nearest clankers. As his weapon charged, he used it as a blunt force weapon in order to strike down the enemy forces ganging up on him. It wasn't long until he heard running footsteps echo down the hall behind his ine of sight. Whirling around, he noticed a blaster bolt slam into Blastyrre's noggin, sending the clone crumpling to the floor. Out of the corner of his eyes, two shapes materialized into the hallway. One of the newcomers bore the tan and metallic grey armor of an Ubbese bounty hunter while the second had the dust-colored tunic and sash, types of clothing attributed to Jedi. The clone immediately recognized who they belonged to.
"Venator, do you come in?" Kardo used his comm to contact Yularen's ship.
"Loud and clear!" The voice responded.
"Overall, we covered a lot of ground, but we have been exposed in the process. I need to report to you that not only is the entire Separatist leadership on board Grievous's vessel, but the traitor Obi-Wan Kenobi has just arrived. Should we bring him to you dead or alive?"
