Some crazy shit happened at school today.
Basically I sit next to this popular girl in my Math class. Let's call her Jane (not her real name). Jane is super popular because she's nice and is really good at sports, right? She used to be best friends with this girl (let's name her Lola), like really really close. She used to date this guy called Harry (also not his real name).
But then she broke up with Harry and stopped being friends with Lola.
Obviously, I was confused and interested because her life was seemingly going so smooth before those two incidents. The whole year was shell-shocked when both news dropped. No one really asked her about it, and she stayed popular, but Lola suddenly was a social pariah because the popular girls didn't like her anymore and Harry was excluded from the popular boys clique.
Why?
Today, I found out.
First off, Lola's story. Lola's mother is Korean and her father is Western (I don't know what origin), so she's a mixed ethnicity baby. Her dad isn't really present, and her mum is super big on grades, but Lola being dumb, she never got good grades at tests. Her mum and her also have a horrible relationship apparently, really toxic. Anyway, that's not the point.
The point is that Lola talked shit about Jane so bad it was crazy. She talked bad about Jane to everyone: from random strangers she added on Snapchat to literally Jane's own friends.59Please respect copyright.PENANAYbTBsBsINt
And she cheated on every Science test all of us had last year by asking someone who used to go to our school for the papers and the answers. She cheated.
So back to Lola and Jane. Jane found out that Lola was talking shit about her, so then started ditching her. Let's introduce the third friend of the group who we'll call Aaliyah. Aaliyah is Muslim, and so cannot hang out with boys or with people who like the same sex (gays and lesbians). Because Jane ditched Lola and Aaliyah was thinking about ditching Lola too, Lola started spreading rumours about Jane, saying that she was lesbian. 59Please respect copyright.PENANAdxjMBIAbmv
Except Aaliyah can't hang out with lesbian people, and Lola knew that perfectly well.
So Jane got really mad and fully ditched Lola. She managed to get the truth across to Aaliyah that she wasn't lesbian, so Aaliyah went with Jane to a new friend group.
As for Lola, not only did Jane tell the Science teachers that she was cheating but when they gave her a test just to be sure, she had a really low score, proving that she cheated. Everyone started hating her and she became a no-go for everyone.
Now, let's get on to Harry's story.
Harry and Jane started dating at the end of Year 6 (Grade 5). Before, Harry had been quite fat and not very physically attractive (or personality-wise attractive), but for some reason Jane (who is pretty and so nice) had a huge crush on him, so they started dating. He told her that he wanted to lose some weight, and she was okay with it because what else was she supposed to say? She thought that he meant doing more sports. She was wrong.
Turns out that he became anorexic, meaning that he stopped eating. He lost weight, and became the guy I know now: skinny, sporty and really popular. He started regaining self-confidence, which is good, but he became big-headed.
And when teenage boys get big-headed, get ready for disaster.
Without Jane knowing, he started Snapping random girls that he added on Snapchat and got close to them. He asked them for nudes (she has screenshot proof) and flirted with them, saying that he was single even though he was dating Jane. All the while having an eating disorder.59Please respect copyright.PENANAp2yUBvwVkg
Crazy, right?
So Jane found out about Harry doing this and immediately broke up with him. He didn't even care, and moved on with some other popular girl in less than a week after the breakup.
Hello?!
For reference, Harry's parents were so rich that it wasn't even funny. His dad always rocked up to pick him up with a brand new Rolls Royce, and his parents even dressed expensive. Turns out they had a super unhappy marriage (don't worry, they're divorced now) and Harry had both an eating disorder and an unhealthy obsession with asking girls for nudes.
I knew that Harry and Lola were both really toxic people because everyone said so, so I did steer clear of them. Did I know that they were this fucked up? No. Of course not. Who would, unless if you knew them really well?
Lola seemed the type to talk shit about everyone because she did and still does, but cheating on every Science test? For a girl who's popular, which usually means that they don't care about grades? Only for her mum? Crazy.
And Harry? He always seemed like an asshole, don't get me wrong, but asking girls for nudes on a regular basis? Crazy. Having an eating disorder? I couldn't even imagine the guy having one!
So lesson learnt, guys. Never judge a book by its cover. Both in the positive sense, and in these cases, the negative sense.59Please respect copyright.PENANArTccu00diP
