I had rehearsal yesterday, and I have rehearsal today.
Sometimes I seriously question why I chose to become a drama kid. Sure, I love loads of musicals and enjoy acting, but it's a lot of work, especially when you're like me and you're in two productions.
Two.52Please respect copyright.PENANA6Ww5pjDP4T
For the first and bigger one, I'm in Footloose: The Musical. Does everyone know the song 'Footloose' by Kenny Loggins? He wrote that song for the movie 'Footloose', and some people turned it into a musical. I'm doing this in my drama school so we're around 50 cast members.52Please respect copyright.PENANAIntZ0E1Egl
For the second and smaller one, it's Hansel and Gretel. Not just any version, but the Kneehigh version! Basically Kneehigh is this company from the UK which makes shows with puppets that are meant to be funny. The same goes for this version of Hansel and Gretel. It's funny, weird and has puppets. I'm a narrator, a rabbit, and I have a puppet.
Yay!
Though both my rehearsals on the weekend are for Footloose because, well, the show is literally next Saturday evening, next Sunday morning and evening. So next weekend is going to be hectic for me.
Of course, I'll still find time to write in here, but piano and maybe even my English course will probably have to be skipped in order for me to not completely collapse in exhaustion by the end of the weekend.
Oh, how I long for Christmas break!
Because once Footloose is done, I only have two weeks to switch off and to switch onto Hansel and Gretel mode, because the performance is on the 3rd of December. If I don't explode now, I'll certainly explode then.
And perhaps the worst thing is that I also have my drama class who has to do a show for this term. It's on the 29th of November, after Footloose and before Hansel and Gretel. Except that on the same day, I'm going to see SIX: The Musical live. So I have to do the performance and run to the theater venue to see the show.
Being a real drama kid is tiring.
You can't just act or watch musicals. You have to do both all the time. Believe me, I wasn't a drama kid until January. Sure, I liked acting, but I joined a class in January and since then, I have not been able to come off of it.
Once you like acting, it's like an addiction. You perform in one production, and you like it so much that you immediately sign up for another. And another. And another.
The same went for me. At first, it was only the class production, and then I signed up for the school production. When both ended, I immediately joined Footloose, and at the beginning of this year, I decided to sign up for Hansel and Gretel as well.
Next year, I'll join another production (I can't do my actual school's one because I'm flying away before the performances, but I'll do my drama school's one) and probably experience that same level of craziness, though less because Footloose is the main production of the year.
No pressure.
Anyway, I have to go because I'm leaving in less than an hour to my rehearsal. From 10am to 5pm. On a Sunday. How am I even going to go to school tomorrow? All I've done is rehearsals this weekend.52Please respect copyright.PENANAguFeeTP5y7
I hope I won't collapse during the rehearsal.
