{Cameron}
After a couple annoying days in the hospital, I was able to move again, even though I still had a bit of a limp, “You are not going back to your house.” Tyler protested,
“Well, then where else can I go?”
“My house?”
“You got into trouble last time, so no.”
“I'll book you a hotel room then.”
“I’ll be okay,”
“Please,” Tyler pleaded, “Just for the night.”
“Tyler, I'll be okay. Why is it such a big deal?”
“I don't know, but it's giving me really bad anxiety, so please, Cameron, don't go home yet.” I looked him in the eyes, registering the clear fear he felt,
“Okay, I'll buy myself a hotel room.”
“I've got that covered, you don't need to pay.”
“No, I-”
“If I'm going to make you do this, I'm going to pay for it.”
“Okay… How am I going to get there? I can't walk that far, I don't have a license, and I wouldn't be allowed to drive even if I did.”
“I drove my mom's car here.”
“She actually let you drive her car?”
“No, I technically hijacked it.” Tyler chuckled, “But I left a note saying I went over to Rae's to study, so I won't get into too much trouble, as long as I can prove that I did some work.”
“And how are you going to do that?”
“We already finished it, so all I have to do is change the dates on the notes, and show them to her.”
“You guys finished?”
“Well, more like I did. It wasn't that hard.”
“That’s because you're smart,”
“We're in an advanced class, you're smart too.”
“Yet, I’m failing.”
“Well, you only joined this year, and this class is supposed to be your second History college credit, so yeah, that's kind of understandable.”
“Ugh, can you at least pretend to be dumb for me?”
“No, because then you wouldn't feel the need to improve.”
“There is no way I can improve at this point.”
“I can lend you my notes from the last two years… After I type them up.”
“Why would you need to type them up?” I asked,
“My handwriting is very illegible,” He lifted his hood up to his ears, clearly embarrassed.
“I'm sure it's not that bad.”
“No, it's bad. Trust me.”
“Prove it.”
“I-I'll pass.”
“Oh come on, I won't make fun of you.”
“Well, if I look at your track record, I'm not sure if I believe that.”
“Alright.” I sighed, “You've got a point.”
“Of course I do.” He scoffed,
Tyler’s car suddenly pulled itself to a stop, making him groan, “I hate this stupid piece of crap.” He rested his head on the steering wheel, “We are so lucky no one ever uses this road…”
“Well, now what?”
“I guess I’m pushing this trash,”
“Isn’t there a gas station nearby?”
“It’s not gas, the engine isn’t working properly. It’s overheated.”
“How far is the hotel from here?”
“Only a mile.” He leaned back,
“You aren’t pushing it for a mile.”
“It’ll be fine, I’ve done it before.”
“No. Can’t you call someone?”
“Uh, yeah, I actually can. Give me a second.” Tyler stepped out of the car, and closed the door, before pulling out his phone, and making a call. Clearly, he really enjoyed this person, because he had a bright smile, and couldn’t stop laughing, which honestly made me quite jealous, as he looked really cute when he was happy. “Alright, he’s coming.”
