{Cameron}
Tyler smiled as his friend, Preston, pulled his car up behind us. He got up, and walked up to him, wrapping Preston into a hug. I awkwardly got out of the car, and watched the two talk until Tyler remembered why he had called Preston over in the first place, “Anyways, Preston, can you take Cameron up to the hotel about a mile away from here?”
“Which one?”
“I don’t know the name, but it’s the dinky, run down one.”
“Ohhh, that one. Yeah, will do, but how are you going to get to your house?” Preston asked, raising an eyebrow,
“I’ll figure it out later,”
“You know my dad works on cars… I can just send him down here if you want.”
“Are you sure?”
“My dad loves you more than me, he won’t mind.” The both of them laughed,
“Alright, thanks man.” Tyler smiled,
“Anytime.” Preston pulled out his phone out, and sent a text to his dad, before motioning for me to join him in his car. I did as he directed me to, and got inside.
“Sooo… How do you and Tyler know each other?” I asked, the silence making me tense up,
“We used to go to the same church, and school as kids.”
“Oh. Was he always so…. How do I word this…?”
“Depressed?”
“Yeah.”
“He was, but back then he had hope. Now he doesn't seem to have any.” Preston frowned, “I hate that about him. I know he can't help it, but he's so amazing. I want him to be able to see that too.”
“He really is. I've only gotten to know him recently, and god, I love him so much. In a kinda gay way,” I said, making Preston chuckle, “but also just in general. He should hate me, because I bullied him for ages, but he doesn't, and I don't think I know anyone who would do something like that, all because he saw that I was struggling.”
“Heh, yeah, that sounds like something he would do.” Preston smiled softly, “Probably because he knows what it feels like to suffer… I don't think I remember a time where he wasn't suicidal, and I don't think he does either. I know that he doesn't want that for anyone else.” Preston pulled the car to a stop,
“Thanks for the ride.”
“No problem. I hope things go better for you,” He smiled, and waved. I closed the door, and waved back to him, before going into the hotel and checking in for the night.
