"The bridge" She breathed heavily. "I made it"
As she stepped foot on the bridge, her entire body felt heavy as if gravity were pulling at her very being and not letting her move forward even a few inches at all. It was then that she realised, she could no longer hear the sound of her pulse beating in her head or feel her own breath against her skin. "This is really it..." she realized.
The events leading up to this point, Xoa standing at the foot of the stereotipical suicide location, the Golden Gates Bridge, were not simple in any format.
They were, however, incredibly complex.
Xoa was only aware her life was due to fall apart as her first year of highschool began. At thirteen years old, lost in a world full of change, Xoa fell into the hole, one full of dark feelings that could trap you when you least expect it. Twelve months of suffering from depression with no barriers between her secrets and the world, Xoa was judged. The concept of a thirteen year old owning depression was to unreal for the world to believe. so she hid away in the dark, cutting her problems away as if it would fix things.
Xoa blindly trusted people until she learnt that trust must be earned. She learned this after being betrayed by her two idols, the very two people who she looked up to, an older cousin, Teri, and a friend of her older brother's, Marcia. Every secret and feeling Xoa had, these two people knew about it. Until they left her. Teri told people that she was embarrased by the state Xoa was in and the world thought she was lying about her feelings. Teri left her to be ashamed. Marcia distanced herself from Xoa before sending her a text, breaking things off with the excuse that she listen to what Xoa had to say purely for her own entertainment. All Xoa had now was her best friend, Niko.
