I have honestly been sick and tired for the demand for Waluigi to be playable in Smash for years. It's gotten to the point where it's just a meme rather than people actually wanting him to be playable while he's an assist trophy and still in the game at all. And then when people hounded Sakurai for it, they wondered why he never did it and instead added other characters that he wanted to. In this age of modding, the fact that a playable Waluigi mod doesn't exist (last I checked) proves that it's just a meme and if Waluigi was put in, no one would care just like with Ridley.
Another thing that bothers me with people wanting Waluigi is that no one seems to want to think about his move set. Ridley was always going to be an echo because he's basically a dragon and always has been, but what about Waluigi. He was created for the sole purpose of giving Wario a sports partner because Wario had no allies in his games or even the game he was introduced.
When my ex and I were talking about characters who would be interesting, we thought of their moves. The best example we had was Spyro who we had the easiest time with. Standard special was fire breath, up special was a small flight boost, side was a charge that would go off ledges if you were on the ground and down special was a head bash. We put in an effort to at least think of moves and even the intro which was Spyro landing out of a portal. Spyro will never be in Smash, but it was fun to do and we knew there's more to the characters but we still got this.
Waluigi for Smash is just a meme and I can't be convinced otherwise. No one would care if he actually became a playable character
