During the late afternoon, the students came out of their classrooms with their books in their hands while carrying their backpacks.
"Don't forget to write six pages of your essay about the 12 Angry Men. In addition, your next quiz will be based on Julius Caesar, which is due this Friday," the university professor reminded out loud, making everyone groan in a grimace. He smiled to himself and said. "See you tomorrow!"
"Goodbye, Mr. Kim!" A dark wavy-haired girl said, grinning at him with a wave at the door.
He waved back at her softly and continued to erase the writings off the chalkboard back and forth, then wiped his hands neatly and cracked his neck on the sides. He sniffed out and began to arrange the booklets in order to stack them up until there was knocking on the door.
"Come in," he signaled.
"Hi!" A young girl greeted along with her friend beside her.
"Hello. What brings you two here?" He asked them blankly.
"My name is Valerie Nown and this is Bryan Zedler. We are both working on a private case of the New Year's Eve party incident. We've figured you might know something," she explained.
"Hey," Bryan waved a little at the professor, who nodded slowly.
"I see. Take your seats," he gestured them politely as they both sat down on the chairs, whereas he folded his hands together on his desk. "What is it that you want to know?"
Valerie and Bryan looked at each other worriedly, then back at the professor.
"What happened to your group? BTS..." she asked faintly and continued on. "I'm sure there's more to it that you can expand on."
Kim Namjoon. An English professor at the University of Seoul is very fluent in two different languages and earned a bachelor's degree from the Teaching program. He was dedicated to helping others to read, write, and speak with more confidence and to focus on education. He gives out meaningful speeches in ceremonies as well as announcements. There he was standing in front of them with a perplexed expression on his face while wearing a white long sleeve and a black-tie around him.
"I guess it wouldn't be that bad to tell my side of the story. Back then, I was recognized as a leader of our group and I always made sure that nobody was falling behind, hurt, or injured. Whenever we travel across America, I was always the one to translate everything to them from English to Korean. Sometimes, I give them the scripts to memorize their lines correctly. If they need help with some part of the songs, I would simply suggest other ideas, including the choreography. I had to make sure they do not get into some sort of a mess," Namjoon explained as he cleared his throat, thinking about his own memories, and apologized. "Sorry."
"No, it's alright. This is a good start to remember and was you certain that your group was never going to have a fallout?" Valerie asked further.
"No. I wasn't. Maybe I was half expecting those good things will always happen. But I was wrong. The last time I saw them was when Jin was trying to help Taehyung and Jungkook fix their problems, but they wouldn't budge, so he gave up since they didn't want to accept his advice. I saw him walking out of their dressing rooms after our final concert. I tried to stop Jin from leaving, but he just went farther away. Then, Jimin came and was talking to them. As soon as the three of them were inside, there was yelling, swearing, and silence. When they all opened the door, I was calling their names out and the worst part was..." Namjoon paused for a moment to close his eyes calmly.
"What is it?" Bryan asked curiously.
"They didn't listen..." Namjoon said, gazing off into space.
"And then, what happened after that?" Valerie furrowed her eyebrows in peculiar.
"They walked up to our manager and said something to him while I was there to witness... The one word that we promised to never declare on our behalf," Namjoon said sternly.
"One word? What is that 'one word?'" Valerie questioned as she and Bryan leaned in closer to their seats.
"Quit," Namjoon concluded, much to their flabbergast.
"No way..." Valerie murmured sadly.
"I knew it. That's the same thing that happened to One Direction. They made a Zayn move on you," Bryan nodded sarcastically, then got elbowed on his right shoulder. "Ow..."
"Don't compare them with the others," Valerie scoffed as she shook her head in annoyance.
"Okay, sorry..." Bryan muttered under his breath.
"Anyway, we understand what you've been through, Mr. Kim. Though, you must know more, is there?" Valerie asked, frowning.
"Unfortunately, that's how much far as I can remember. After our final concert, we didn't say proper goodbyes. Only Yoongi and Hoseok did, whereas the other four guys didn't. The next thing that I knew is that our group's disbandment was officially confirmed on the news after traveling back to our homes," Namjoon said firmly.
Valerie stared at him pitifully and whispered. "I'm so sorry to hear that."
Namjoon shook his head as he lowered down sadly and said. "It's okay. My job as a leader is done. I did what I could, you know."
"You sure about that?" Valerie asked and continued on. "Because it would be so much better if you join back in the Bighit agency."
"Look. Thanks for coming in to stop by and have a discussion. I appreciate what you are doing, but you already know where my life stands at right now and that is my career as a teacher. I love my students so dearly and I will continue to teach them English and other foreign languages because it's my full-time commitment to do so," Namjoon said, smiling thoughtfully at them. Then, he proceeded to mark the test papers on his desk.
"But you love to rap. Your dream was to become a rapper yourself," Valerie stammered.
"Ms. Nown, I'm not that person as I used to be. People grow apart. I still don't know the answers to your questions as to how and why we broke up because I don't. Maybe, we just need to change and whatever issues I have with them, I cannot convince you two to solve them for me because I'm letting go," Namjoon concluded as he pushed his eyeglasses steadily up towards his nose.
Bryan nodded in understanding and stood up carefully from his chair. "I see. Well, thanks for being honest with us, Mr. Kim."
"Thanks, Mr. Kim," Valerie bowed down respectfully.
"Heh. No need for formal casualties. Call me Namjoon," he said, smirking genuinely as he held his hand out to shake with theirs.
"Alright, Namjoon. See you again!" Valerie said, waving at him.
The two of them nodded with a smile and exited the classroom, leaving Namjoon alone in his thoughts.
He was blinking a few times and turned on the lock screen that indicated the old picture of his beloved group. He doesn't know what he was feeling at that moment and to even think that he would remind himself of them again. He sighed and shuts off his device before packing his stuff in his bag.413Please respect copyright.PENANAmFMcwbyKoF
