What is human nature? What is the one thing that all people of this earth instinctively strive to do?
Humans were born to protect. It doesn't matter what it is, that is our ultimate goal. Individually, you may not view this issue the same. Many have been affected by someone else's influence or presence. We may not all see eye to eye, that is not what I am getting at.1296Please respect copyright.PENANAfzPtgpHAOy
What a person tries to protect most says a lot about their character.
Loved ones. Material possessions. Memories. Personal values. Ethical integrity. Religion. Tradition. Beliefs. Places. Peace. Heritage. Pride. Dignity. One's Image. The list goes on.
These are only a few of the things that we strive to hold on to, to preserve. We don't want to see these things disappear because if they do we feel like a part of ourselves goes with it. Our decisions and actions are based and driven off of our desire to protect.
Everyone is affected by someone else's human nature, and not always in a good way. What helps an individual could very well hurt another, sometimes without them even knowing it. I have to believe that in some sort of way, no matter how minuscule or gentle that instinct may be, it is caused by the desire to protect something that person deems as important.
Our reasons for preserving these things, these ideas, these people, vary immensely. We can't hope to understand the 'Why' for everyone. We can't possibly think we could relate to every single person's struggle or hardship. Doing so would be to strip yourself of what is inherently human.
Our moral compass, our decision to separate things into right and wrong, good and evil, prevent us from looking at everything and everyone is a good light.
As depressing as I must sound, I believe that humanity are inherently good. I believe that we strive to do right, or whatever our own sense of right is. The saying goes 'Every villain is a hero in his own mind.' I believe that is true. However, I do not condone crime.
In fewer words, our instinctive nature will ultimately hurt others. However, we all see our actions as justifiable and just. In that sense, equality of the entire world is simply a fantasy, wishful thinking. Peace is something I would wish to achieve, but I am not naive enough to think that it is really possible. As individuals, we prevent ourselves from achieving it.
