I have no idea why I'm writing this update, but I'm bored at work and want something to do. I'm in the unique mood to showcase some of my favorite characters and what I love about them. Bear with me for the fangirl feels.1105Please respect copyright.PENANA1dLCY0j0l5
Note: These aren't in any particular order, I suppose. Just sort of a list of my top...say, ten favorite characters ever? And, I guess only one character per show/anime/whatever they're from just to keep it balanced. Here we go!
10. Thor Odinson1105Please respect copyright.PENANAuy4vpHQ034
It wasn't until after I watched Infinity Wars did I realize how much I appreciate Thor. To me, rather than Tony Stark or Captain America, the main story's perspective could be entirely within Thor's POV. I mean, the guy's lost everything. Literally. He's the only one left of his people or very close to it. And yet this guy is still a ray of sunshine and hope. In terms of his personal character development, comparing his original appearance, this guy has grown up and learned a whole lot. I'm so thrilled to see how he's progressed and turned out, not so formal and jock-like now, seeing more fun in the things around him, and cracking jokes. Definitely my new favorite Avenger after all this is said and done.

9. Castiel
It's been some time since I last watched an episode of Supernatural, but I'd still say I'm a fan of the show. The story lines aren't what they used to be, and I miss certain characters, but let's talk about Castiel for a minute. He's loyal to a fault, and tries so hard to do what's right. He wants so badly to help fix things when he feels responsible, even though they end up turning out for the worst, and so he keeps trying anyway, because he's not going to feel like a burden on anyone else, no sir.
8. Sebastian
What else can I say besides Sebastian is just super cool? He's full of mystery, and is never without his sophisticated demeanor and smile. He's honestly the majority of the reason I read the manga, because this guy is interesting as all get out. Sebastian's intentions are clear. He wants your soul, which makes him refreshing and trustworthy. Because you know exactly what he's after.
7. Gajeel Redfox
I think I'm a sucker for just villains in general, or villains-turned-good-guy. Gajeel is definitely one of those. I'm not going to go into the many things I thought were frustrating and soul-killing when it comes to the Fairy Tail manga itself, but Gajeel was one of the reasons I kept reading until the final chapter. I wanted to see his character come to completion. He learns from his mistakes, while keeping the regret and guilt with him to remind him never to make those mistakes again. His whole personality is shaped around learning from his past, and bettering himself for others. Beautiful, in my opinion.
6. Spencer Reid
Gosh, it's been forever since I've watched Criminal Minds. Spencer Reid was always my favorite profiler. He was so pure and inquisitive, wanting to prove to others that despite not looking it, he was just as essential to the team as everyone else. His intelligence is attractive as hell, and he's cunning. Sometimes ten steps ahead of everyone else, too. He's sweet, caring, and is always wanting to do the right thing, even when it's a difficult decision. A lot of terrible things have happened to him, so you just can't help but root for something to finally go right in his life.
5. Damien
Kind of an obscure one, but Damien from Markiplier's youtube mini-series 'Who Killed Markiplier?' was my favorite character. And probably one of the ones you saw the least of. He's a caring man who only wants to see his friends happy and in good health. A lot of initial suspicion of blame was placed on Damien, but in the end, he's the world's biggest cinnamon roll who needs to be protected from this cruel world. Despite doing everything right, everything good, Damien befalls one of the worst fates he can, because there was no right answer and no way out in this scenario. My heart bleeds for his character and the fate that he met.
4. Kakashi Hatake
Who doesn't love this guy? From the first time we meet him, he's the benchmark and epitome of cool. There doesn't seem to be anything this guy can't handle or problem he can't solve. Kakashi is a supportive figure throughout the whole series, helping to guide the story along with his clear-headed observations and knowledge of the world. After learning of his backstory, you can't help but wish he didn't take so much of the blame onto himself. He's made a lot of tough choices, he's lost a lot of people, but he doesn't let it get to him, instead using those as motivation to make sure others don't make the same mistakes he did as a teacher. The best guy around for sure.
3. Trafalgar Law
In terms of his place in the story, Trafalgar Law is more of a main supporting character rather than a main character. But his presence in the story carries a lot of weight and sets several critical events into motion. He's a morally gray character, though has quite a sadistic nature and disregard for authority. As a pirate, he leads his own crew of men who follow him loyally. The guy is just cool as hell too. His ability is intriguing, and one of the more well-known fruits of the universe. Law is known for his sadism, but also maintains a sense of honor and fairness. One could think he's almost a paradox within himself, making his character extremely complex. Which I enjoy.
2. Garrus Vakarian
My #1 space boyfriend from the moment I first played Mass Effect. Garrus is the most supportive side character I've ever come across in any game I've played or book I've read, loyally following you no matter what decisions you've made. One of the only romance options that matter (you can't change my mind), Garrus is confident and suave, yet kind and gentle. Bloodthirsty and compassionate. Also a contradiction, but his character pulls it off so well in the story. There is no Shepard without Vakarian, and that will never change.
1. Wrench
My newest obsession, Wrench's character is hilarious and relatable. He's the epitome of smashing expectations and stereotypes. You get one impression from him by his appearance alone, but as soon as you get to know him, you're laughing your ass off with his jokes and references. Wrench is loyal to a fault to his friends the DedSec, and won't stand to see any of them in times of trouble. He'll do anything possible to make sure the mission is complete, and is willing to do the crazy shit others won't. Wrench is much more complicated than he first seems, as the mask has great significance to him and his personality. Learning who he is and how his dynamic fits into the theme of the story was a true pleasure. Plus, that voice.
So, you've gotten a little glimpse into my favorite characters. They say you can tell a person's personality based on the characters they value and cherish the most, so I suppose you can make whatever conclusions you want about me. I just felt like sharing them with you today. ^_^
