“‘Where Paris meets the sky’?” Hunter asked, dumbfounded. “That makes no sense.”
“Yes, it does!” Byrant popped up. “The tallest point in Paris is the Eiffel Tower.”
Noel looked back down at the letter. “So go to the Eiffel Tower?”
I stood up quickly, startling everyone. “Do you guys hear yourselves? ‘Go to Paris’? That’s thousands of miles away! We can’t just drop everything and go on a sightseeing tour to the Eiffel Tower!” I let my head roll back in frustration.
Elizabeth stepped forward. “Enoch’s right. We don’t even know if my grandfather is talking about this.” She motioned around her. “And let me put it this way, my grandpa was a little crazy.”
“‘A little’?” Glenn shouted from the back of the room, interrupting his sister. “He was always acting like the world was going to come to an end.”
Thomas reached for the dairy, picking it off the table. He opened it to the first page, revealing lines of loose handwriting in a different language than the latter. Thomas tilted the book towards Jack.
Jack squinted at the page. “I don’t recognize the language at all.” He took the diary from Thomas. “But I can see what I can do.”
Josiah peeked his head around from behind me. “Did this grandpa ever do anything in English?”
Elizabeth shrugged at him.
