“Whoa,” I gasped, scanning the monitors as the glowing maps brightly lit up the room.
We all watched the screens, trying to make sense of it all.
“Byrant?” Noel pointed to a monitor that was backlit in green with flashing red spots. “What does this mean?”
Our little group crowded around the screen.
“No way.” Byrant reached forward and began pressing buttons and keys frantically. The map zoomed out, revealing more red lights.
The lights caused an orange glow on Byrant’s face as he bit his lip, his hands still flying across the desk.
“What does it mean?” Noel repeated.
He ran his fingers through his hair, causing it to stick up at odd angles. “It means that a plane crashed here.” Byrant pointed at one of the red dots. “And here.” He pointed at another. “And here.” His fingers shook as he traced the dot’s outline.
“But there are hundreds of dots,” I remarked.
Byrant nodded.
“So, hundreds of people are dead.” Hunter blinked, disbelieving.
Thomas took a deep breath. “Unless there were nobody in them.”
Enoch raised his eyebrows. “Really? What could have happened? They just disappear?” He stopped talking as soon as he realized what he was saying.
Suddenly, Glenn opened the door that led to the stairs. “David is ready!”
Noel nodded, thanking him.
Glenn disappeared down the stairs.
Hunter looked back at the screen. “We should probably keep this to ourselves. The others are already freaked out as it is.”
We all agreed with him.
“Alright. Let’s go.” Enoch led the way back down the stairs.
I refused to look back at the monitor, but I knew the image would never leave my memory.
