We now knew. We knew why David disappeared. We knew how much longer we have left. We just don’t know what to do with this information.
The teens were quiet for a long time before slowly, one by one, they began laying down to get the now long overdue sleep.
Soft, deep breaths came for the girls while a loud obnoxious snore escaped from the junior highers followed by an elbow to the ribs and muffled giggles.
I rolled my eyes and stood up. Sending a quick glance to the fire, confirming it was still burning strong, I walked to the back of the bus. As quietly as possible, I grabbed the metal bars of the ladder and hoisted myself onto the roof.
Balancing on the aluminum metal, I walked to the middle and sat down with my legs hanging over the side, overlooking the slumbering teens.
I took a deep breath.
I’ve never felt so much pressure in my life.
Every single one of those kids were counting on me.
I stared down at my Pendant.
My curse.
My trap.
I didn’t know how much longer I could do this.
