“So why do I have to go to this teen activity again?” I asked for what felt like the millionth time.
“Because I don’t want to be the only girl!” my friend whined through the phone.
“Exactly! There are always way too many guys,” I hold the phone between my cheek and shoulder as I tidied my room.
“So that’s why you should come!”
“That’s why I’m not going!” I slammed a drawer shut in frustration. “Grace, look- I love you, ok? But nothing you say is going to convince me to sit around a campfire for an hour while listening to the boy’s petite horror stories.”
“There will be food.”
“Really? Is that your attempt to convince me?”
“Please,” Grace pleaded again. “Just come for me?”
I let out a squeal of exhaustion. “Fine! But only because I love you. And you owe me.”
“Yes! Thank you!” I could hear Grace dancing in her room.
