Pulling into the airport parking lot, I began to notice just how underprepared we were.
Here we are, a group of teens about to travel across the world, and we had not ever packed a single water bottle.
“Over here!” a teen called to my vehicle’s passengers as we began to climb out.
The others had already gathered on an empty spot once my group walked over.
“I need to get closer to the planes to figure out which is the best one for us.” David motioned to the farthest area of the airport where some planes were parked.
“I’ll go with him,” James offered. “It probably isn’t the best idea to be going somewhere alone.” He looked at me for confirmation.
“Good thinking,” I agreed with him. “I’m going to raid some gift shops and see what food and water I can pack.”
A couple teens motioned they would go with me.
Byrant had his eyes locked on the control tower.
“Byrant?” I stepped into his line of sights.
He turned to me. “I wonder if I can get that thing to communicate with another tower.”
The group was intrigue at the thought.
“I’ll go with him.” Enoch stepped forward. “The rest of you can go prepare for what might be a long trip.”
With everyone agreed, we split off into three different groups. Enoch and Byrant went to see what they could accomplish at the control tower. David and James walked across the parking lot, headed to the hangers to scout out a suitable plane. The remaining twelve followed me into the building.
