“Alright. All clear.” Enoch stepped back inside the cabin, resituating his gun against his back. “Don’t leave the airport and never go off by yourself.”
The teens agreed to his terms before forming a line to exit the plane.
Stepping foot on the Spanish ground, I spun in a small circle, taking in the miniature airport.
The junior highers began clapping as David stepped from the jet.
He made a mock, humble motion for them to quiet their applause.
And then the unthinkable happened.
As soon as David’s feet touched the ground, he was surrounded in the swirling lights.
But that could not be possible. David already has his Pendant.
An unsettling hush fell over the small group as we impatiently waited for a sign of what was happening.
The light particles began to dissipate. On the ground where David once stood, his Pendant lay, the ribbon bunched up on the ground beside it.
