Chapter 29.
I walk towards him and wrap my arm around his and he closes the door behind us and we head towards the stairs and into the kitchen where everyone is sitting by a large table with a bunch of selection of food and drinks in the middle of it. "Who is your guest Jaiden?” I spot Nicolas smirking towards me looking me up and down “everyone this is Misty.” I look at Nicolas and smirk "so this is the famous Nicolas I’ve heard stories about.” Nicolas looks at Jaiden and raises his eyebrow "don't look at me I’ve no told her nothing.” Jaiden walks towards two spare seats and nods "here.” He pulls a chair out and I sit down "thank you.” He sits next to me and I can see Nicolas looking at me with the side of his eyes "so what have you heard?” I look at him and shrug "just that you have slept with half the town.” Nicolas smirks and licks his lips “you sound jealous.” I scoff and shake my head "believe me I am not.” Edmund laughs softly "that’s Nicolas for you.”
He hands me and Jaiden a beer and smiles "so how long you in town for?” I smile and take the beer "not sure.” I open the beer and take a sip. “What bring you too town?” I look at Nicolas so leans forward and smiles "I am just passing.” Jaiden coughs and take a sip of his beer "I thought she could stay for a few nights as she doesn’t have anywhere to stay?” Edmund raises his eyebrows and take a deep breath “really? You think that’s a good idea?” Jaiden looks at me and smirks “yes.” Edmund looks me up and down and licks his lips smirking “ok then.” He looks towards Alice and nods "now let’s eat.” Edmund and Alice pass plates around the table and Cameron hands me one "thank you.” Jaiden sticks a few bits of food on my plate and smirks "don't be shy.” I smile and nod slowly "thank you.”
After dinner Alice grabs a silk napkin in front of her and dabs her mouth "is that silk?” She looks at it and smiles "yes dear.” She sticks it down and smiles "I don't like the way a normal napkin feels on my face or when it breaks apart and sticks too my lips.” Places all the plates in the sink and walks back towards the table sitting down "who is night is it for story time?” Jaiden smiles and sticks his hand up "mine.” I smile and shrug "what's story time?” Jaiden looks at me and laughs softly "we go out back by the lake and build a bonfire and tell stories.” I smile and nod "sounds fun.” Cameron stands up and smiles towards Alice "mum may I be excused?” Alice nods and smiles "of course but be outside in half an hour.” Cameron nods before running out the kitchen and up the stairs. Edmund stands up and nods towards Jaiden "come get the blankets please Jaiden.” Jaiden stands up and smiles "won’t be long.” I nod and smile "ok.”
He walks out the kitchen with Edmund and I look over towards Nicolas and realise he wasn't sitting there anymore "may I?” I jump and look beside me and see Nicolas standing beside me with his hand on the chair "yeah.” He sits down and looks at me smiling "so Misty.” He leans forward and smirks "what really brings you too town?” I shake my head and smile "nothing really I was just passing.” Alice stands up and smiles "I am going to grab some firewood and leave yous too it.” He walks towards the back door and looks back "come on boys.” Ethan and Grayson run towards her and she closes the door behind him. I lean back and look at Nicolas "so how do you know me?” I shrug and cough "I don't.” He raises his eyebrow and leans back "but you've heard about me?” I scoff and shake my head "yeah.” He nods and leans forward "from who?” Jaiden walks in holding a bunch of blankets and smiles "ready?” I nod and smile "yes!” I quickly stand up and follow Jaiden towards the back door and outside.
Nicolas stands up and shakes his head "what?” Edmund walks in and laughs softly "I don't know what it is.” He looks towards the back door and take a deep breath "but I don't trust her.” Edmund looks towards the door and rolls his eyes "she’s not supernatural or a hunter so don't be asking questions that don't need to be asked.” Edmund walks towards the back door and Nicolas follows "she’s hiding something and I want to know what!” I follow Jaiden towards the lake where the twins are already sitting on a large log and Alice is placing firewood in a fire pit "about time you join us.” Alice smiles and nods "you got a match?” Edmund walks past me and nods "yeah here.” He hands Alice a pack of matches and she lights one and the firepit lights up "here.” Edmund hands out the blankets in his arms and Jaiden smiles and hands me one "let’s sit over here.” I sit down next too Jaiden and Nicolas smirks and sits next to me wrapping a blanket around him "hey.” I smile softly and nod "hi.” Jaiden looks over towards him and rolls his eyes "you want a drink?” I look at Jaiden and smile "yes anything will be fine.” He nods and stands up and grabs two beers and hands me one "thank you.”
Grayson comes running over and nods towards Jaiden "can I sit there?” Jaiden smiles and nods "of course.” Jaiden moves over and let’s Grayson sit down next to me. "Hello again.” I look at him and smile “hello.” He take out a notebook and pen from his jacket and sticks it on his lap "you want to see?” I look at the notebook and Grayson smiles "yeah.” He opens the notebook to a page of a drawing of the black daemon wolf outside Dens woods fighting with a brown wolf. He looks at me and whispers “It's Ethan.” I look at the wolf in the drawing and shake my head "what?” I look closely at the painting and see a scar on the black wolfs right leg "is that a scar?” Grayson nods but jumps when Edmund calls his name “Grayson!” He looks towards Edmund and shakes his head "no drawing at the firepit please.” Edmund looks at him and shakes his head and Grayson nods and stands up and walks towards Alice and sits down. "Sorry about that.” I smile and shake my head "I don't mind.” Jaiden moves back next to me and smirks "he usually never lets anyone look at his drawings.” I look at Grayson as he looks down "really?” Jaiden nods and smiles "guess he trusts you.” I smile and look back towards him and see him smiling at me sticking his notebook back in his jacket.
Alice coughs and smiles "alright Jaiden.” Everyone looks at her and Jaiden smiles "story time?” She nods and he smiles "I got a good one.” He looks at me and winks "It's about a queen of vampires.” I look towards the firepit as he begins a story "The vampire queen doesn't hunt she gets other vampires too do her work for her.” His voice drifts of and after a few minutes everyone claps and I look at Jaiden and clap along with everyone. He reaches down for another beer and hands me it "we are out of beer.” Edmund stands up and nods "I will go get some I am going to stick kids’ bed anyway.” The twins and Cameron stand up "night babies.” They all hug Alice and run towards the house waving back towards us with Edmund running behind them.
Nicolas take a deep breath "so?” I look at him and see him look me up and down "what made you pick too stop of at Harper Ferry?” He smirks and drinks a sip of his whiskey "I don't know.” I shrug and laugh nervously "I just ended up here like a dream.” Nicolas smirks and rolls his eyes "have you heard of Harper Ferry before? not a lot of outsiders come here by mistake.” Jaiden leans forward and shakes his head "what's with all the questions Nic?” He shrugs and smirks "just curious.” I shake my head and smile "It's fine I don't mind.” I look at Nicolas and smirk "I don't blame him for being curious.” Nicolas nods towards Jaiden and smiles "so what do you think about the stories?” I shake my head and look at Jaiden "his story?” Nicolas nods "any stories you might have heard about this time and the creatures that apparently run around this town.” I look at Jaiden and smirk “I’ve never believed in stuff like that but It's nice to believe in something magical right?” Jaiden smirks and shoves me “couldn't have said it better myself.”
I look at Alice and smile "have yous always lived in this town?” She looks at me and nods “yeah.” She nods towards Nicolas "Edmund and those two build this house but before we only moved here from the other side of the woods as my great great grandpa built this entire wooden area so It's been in our family since but the town took over the woods except Dens Woods area. This is private property so they don’t come in or bother us.” I smile at her and she looks at Nicolas and shakes her head. I look at Nicolas and see his eyes have turned black “Nicolas can you go check how long dinner will be please?” Jaiden looks at Nicolas and shakes his head before standing up and grabbing him "move!” He walks towards the house “I’m so sorry about that Misty I don’t know what got into him.” I smile and shake my head “It's fine.” Edmund walks back and shakes his head "what was that about?” Alice shakes her head and smiles "Nicolas just had a.” She looks at me and shrugs "a moment.” Edmund nods "oh.” Alice raises her eyebrows and Edmund smiles "oh!” He looks at me and smiles softly "I should probably go check on him.” He runs towards the house after Jaiden and Nicolas.
I look towards the firepit and jump when I feel someone touch my shoulder "hey.” I look up and see Jaiden "you ok?” I nod and take a deep breath "yeah just not a fan of the dark.” He smiles softly and sits next to me wrapping his blanket around me "sorry about that.” He looks down and laughs nervously "Nicolas just doesn’t like strangers asking so many questions about our family and It's a very private person.” I shake my head and smile “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to cause any trouble.” He smiles and shrugs "you didn't.” He smirks towards me and shrugs "he’s just been weird and very private ever since his girlfriend got murdered.” I raise my eyebrows and shake my head “I don't blame him then.” Edmund walks back down and sits next to Alice shaking her head towards Jaiden "why don't you show Misty too the guest room?” Jaiden stands up and holds his hand out "ok.” I take his hand he softly pulls me up "the red room is already set up for her.” Jaiden nods and smiles "ok.” we walk towards the house and he turns around and waves "night.”
He opens the kitchen door and I see Ethan standing by the fridge "what are you doing still up?” He looks at Jaiden and smiles "just getting some water.” Jaiden nods "ok well straight too bed.” Ethan looks at me and smiles and I can’t help but laugh softly at how young he is now. Jaiden grabs a glass and nods "you want some water?” I nod and smile "yes please.” He pours a glass of water and hands me it before walking towards the stairs and up them too the first floor. He stops at the room at the end of the hallway “this is you.” He smiles and nods "I will get you fresh clothes and something to sleep in.” I nod and smile "ok.” He walks away and I take a deep breath and look at the door opening it and walk in. I look around the room and see an ensuite bathroom. A large bed with a bedside table next to it and a set of drawers and wardrobe at the back of the room. I walk towards the bed and sit down and take a deep breath. I see a silver jewelry box on the bedside table so I walk towards it and stick the glass of water down picking up the jewelry box opening it letting a little music song play "ahhh!” I quickly close it and laugh nervously “hope no one heard that.”
I quickly open it a little and pull out a picture of 3 kid and turn it over smiling "Grayson. Ethan. Cameron.” I see another name and raise my eyebrow "and Caleb Denver.” I turn it around and scoff "who is Caleb?” I realise a bit of the picture was ripped so I look inside the box but there is nothing else there. I look at the side of the bed but stop and jump and look up when I hear someone knock the door. I hide the picture and jewelry box under the pillow and stand up knocking the glass of water over and smashing the glass as the door opens "hello?” Nicolas pops his head in and smiles "can I come in?” I nod and smile “yeah.” I bend down and pick up most of the glass before cutting myself with a slice as he walks over too me "ow!” I drop the glass in my hand he runs over "are you ok?” He bends down and picks up the glass with one hand like it was nothing "yeah.” He shakes his head and stands up sticking the glass in the bin by the door. I look at my hand take a deep breath "you sure you’re ok?” I place my hand behind my back and smile "yeah It's just a scratch.” He raises my eyebrows and sits on the bed "let me have a look.” I roll my eyes and sit down next to him holding my hand out. He smiles and nods "stay still ok?”
I nod and he starts pulling small pieces of glass out my hand "I am sorry.” I look at him and smile "what for?” He looks at me and smiles softly "for earlier.” He looks back down towards my hand “I’m just a private person.” I look at my hand laugh softly “It's fine.” I look at him and shake my head "I’m sorry for asking so many questions I wasn’t trying to pry.” He looks at me and smiles “done.” He rubs his hand over mine and smiles "thank you.” He pulls his hand away and coughs "I should go.” He stands up and walks towards the door "Misty?” I quickly stand up and smile "yeah?” He holds his hand out and smiles “let’s start over?” I shake his hand he smirk grabbing it pulling me in "I knew it.” I pull away and shake my head “what?” He grabs my wrist and points towards my half-moon scar "stop!” I pull my hand away and he shakes his head pacing the room “I know what you are!” I shake my head and look down “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He stops pacing and looks at me shaking his head “you've brought the black daemon wolf right to us.” I shake my head and look at him “what?” He walks towards the window and open it “It's coming.” He points towards the full moon and shakes his head "stay here!” He walks towards the door and opens it "lock the door behind me and don't let anyone in.” He walks out the door and I run towards it closing and locking it behind him.
I walk back over towards the window and close it and close the curtains before sitting on the bed with my eyes locked on the door. After a few minutes someone knocks on the door and I jump and look up "It's me!” I hear Nicolas voice and run towards the door and unlock it "hold this.” He hands me the same black box Edmund had and turns around towards the door locking it. He turns around and take the black box and sits on the bed opening it and pulling out a red notebook "what's that?” I walk towards the bed and sit down next to him "It's.” He looks towards the window and stands up and walks towards it making sure It's locked "it’s a book about how to defeat the black daemon wolf.” He opens the box again and pulls out the book that Edmund showed me “I’ve seen that before.” He looks at me and raises his eyebrow “where?” I cough and laugh softly “in the museum upstairs.” He nods slowly and smirks "that’s the display one.” He shakes his head and laughs softly "Jaiden loves showing of his stuff but nothing up there actually works and the books are all empty.” He opens the red notebook and flicks to a page about the Red Shield “so how much do you know about the red shield and the black daemon wolf?” I shake my head and take a deep breath “not a lot.” I look at him and nod "I know that only I can kill it.” He nods and looks back towards the book and I shrug and smirk “unless I give one of yous my blood.” He looks at me and licks his lips smirking “so you knew what we were all this time?” I smile and nod “yeah.”
He flicks through a few more pages and a piece of paper falls out “what's that?” He leans down and picks it up "not sure.” He holds it up and reveals a ripped picture with a little boy on it “I think I know who he is.” I reach over towards the pillow and get the picture of Cameron and the twins and hold it against the other bit and it matches’ the rip “where did you get that?” He looks at the picture and I shrug reaching for the jewelry box and hand him it "in here.” He looks at the jewelry box. I look at the picture and shake my head “who is Caleb?” Nicolas shakes his head and take a deep breath "I don't know.” He sticks the picture in his pocket and stands up "I will come check on you in a few hours.” He walks towards the door and smiles "I’m at the room across from you so come get me if you need anything ok?” I smile and nod "ok.” He opens the door and closes it behind him.
I stick the jewelry box back on the bedside table and walk towards the window looking out towards the full moon. I jump when I hear a howl and quickly close the curtains and turn around towards the bed lying down. "Hello?!” The door knocks and I jump up and Jaiden comes in with a pile of clothes “I got you a few things too wear.” He hands me the clothes and smiles "thank you.” He nods and smiles “I will be downstairs if you need anything alright?” I nod and he heads out the door and closes it behind it. I spot a large T-shirt so I stick it on and take my dress of before getting into bed under the covers yawning and drifting of after a few seconds. I wake up during the night when I hear a loud bang and quickly stand up looking around the room "what?” I look out the window and see someone in a black cloak digging a small hole in the back garden before placing a jewelry box in it.
The person looks around and I see Alice face look around before digging over the hole over the jewelry box and running back into the house. I look towards the bedside table and see the jewelry box is gone "why is she burying that jewelry box? What is she hiding?” I close the curtains and walk back towards the bed and lie down on my back take a deep breathing before turning turn over facing the door and starting to drift off to sleep. I hear the door open as I close my eyes "Misty?” I shoot my eyes open and I see Jaiden pop his head into the room whispering. “are you awake?” I sit up and rub my eyes “yeah.” He walks in and closes the door behind him and sits on the bed next to me “can’t sleep?” I smile and he laughs nervously and nods “no.” He looks down and smirks “mainly because I have something on my mind.” He looks at me and licks his lips "what's that then?” He smirks locking his eyes onto my lips "how much I’ve wanted to do this.” He looks at my eyes and smirks before looking at my lips again leaning in and kissing me.
