It was a day before the ball, everyone was downstairs scrambling to put the decorations and blood supply together.
Meanwhile, Jason and I had nothing to do.

I let go of Jason's shoulder and licked my fresh bite wound allowing him to heal.
"Do you two always have to feed off each other?"
Our heads quickly looked over to see Ben, with his hands in the air in apology.
Jason growled.
"Maybe you should knock."
"Yeah, you're probably right. . ." Ben sheepishly looked down.
I unfortunately wasn't wearing "clothes for company". I was wearing a very tight and high crop top, I knew Jason wasn't gonna have it.
I got up and walked to my closet, grabbing a simple white t-shirt throwing it over my crop top.
"Since when have you had a tattoo Luna?"
Ben asked looking at me his head to the side.
"She's had it for quite some time."
About fifty or so years ago I had gotten a black and white headless horseman tattoo that covered almost half of my back, but it was very rarely seen by anyone other than myself or Jason.
"Honey, leave the poor boy alone, it was a harmless compliment."
I scolded him.
He huffed.
"I have to go, but looks like twinkle-toes is finally back from who knows where." Jason rolled his eyes walking towards the door.
Jarred's back!
Suddenly, the door opened and Jarred walked in with his hair neatly slicked back with a pair of slacks and a black t-shirt.
I ran to him and giving him a big hug.
"Jarred!"
He chuckled squeezing me.
"Jarred?" Ben asked confusion in his voice.
Jarred, you see is very anti-social with most of the people around Jason and I. Hence why Ben has never met him, since Jarred very frequently wouldn't stay at our home, let alone the state.
"Ahh yes, Ben this is Jarred. Jason's older brother."
I pulled myself away from Jarred as he extended his hand to Ben.
Ben shook his hand and nodded.
"How is it that I haven't met you until now?" Ben looked puzzled by Jarred's surprise relation.
"I'm out for the most part, not royal blood you see. Plus, I'm not a fan of people usually."
Jarred shrugged and looked back to me.
"Happy birthday little sis!" he put his hand on top of my head and messed up my hair.
"Wait. . . her birthday was two months ago I thought?"
"Her human one yes, she was only fourteen when it happened four months before her birthday actually. As you can see though, she wouldn't appear as if that were the case. So anyway, we celebrate both her human and vampire one."
Jarred paused then continued.
"Then of course my brother and her got married not so long after. . . they've been together ever since blah,blah,blah"
I hit his arm playfully rolling my eyes.
"Wait they got married at fourteen?how?"
"It wasn't abnormal at the time, they had lied anyway easily." Jarred answered quickly.
"My brother has told me lots about you though Ben, since you've saved his beauty."
"You know about that?" Ben sounded shocked, Jarred only chuckled.
"Just because I'm not around, doesn't mean I don't know about everything."
"So. . . if Luna didn't turn you then who did? Jason?"
Jarred shook his head, his eyes turning hazy.
"No. . . I was turned two years after them."
"Oh. . ." was all Ben could manage to say, the only thing I could think is he noticed it was a tough topic.
Jarred cleared his throat and gave Ben a sheepish smile.
"I have to give my brother credit though, he ran away with the one he loved, even managed to marry her and keep her for this long."
"So how did Luna become a vampire? I mean I of course know the story, but it's not the same"
Jarred put his hands in the air in surrender.
"She tells that one better than I could."
Suddenly, I had picked up on a few people talking about Jason downstairs.
"Maybe the reason Jason hasn't been around so much is because he's having an affair. . ."
"I don't know the Queen has been spending time with Ben a lot, maybe it's the other way around. . ."
Someone else mumbled.
"With a pathetic human none the less. . ." someone scoffed.
I felt tears start to swell in my eyes almost at an instant.
I knew very well Jason wasn't having an affair, and nor was I, but this wasn't what either of us needed before the ball.
"Luna is everything okay?" Ben's voiced suddenly snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Everyone is talking downstairs . . . there are rumors about the King and Queen having an affair starting, believe me I'd know if my brother was and Luna wouldn't."
I sucked in a breath as Jarred answered for me.
"Oh, I uh. . .I'm sorry Luna. . ."I could feel how awkward Ben felt.
I cleared my throat.
"So you wanted to know how I was turned right?"
He nodded.
Jarred walked over to the plum Victorian style love seat, sitting down and I walked over to it, sitting beside him then motioned Ben to sit in the chair in front of us.
"It was in 1452, November 3. I was going out to meet Jason at his house, I cut through town like I usually would. Unfortunately for me that day Zadicus was awaiting for me, I had seen visions of him way before that night, but I wasn't sure if everything was true."
I paused as Ben sat in the chair and looked at me to continue.
"Quickly I realized that it was true, he was indeed not human, and for whatever reason he wanted me. He had turned me, without any warning mumbling about the prophecy to me as I know, you know."
"You didn't even put up a fight?" Ben asked shocked.
I shook my head smiling.
"When you have been thrown into the very nightmare you have witnessed half of your life, then to be thrown into it, in the real world you don't even know what to do, how to react, it's as if you shrug it off as just another dream."
I cleared my throat.
"I had managed to convince Zadicus to let me see Jason one last time, he hesitantly let me, but none the less did. Jason knew about the dreams and so when I had told him that I would be going away he had confessed his love for me and begged me to turn him and to let him, let us run and hide away together."
"So how long have you two been together? or married?"
Jarred cleared his throat trying to chime in.
"Because of how rich our family was and the Brunori's social status, her family arranged for a marriage between their only daughter and my brother when they were six or so. I can tell you though that they started to like each other on their own without knowing about it."
"So I guess you can say we've been together our whole lives, both human and vampire. I've been married to him for five hundred and sixty four years."
Ben's jaw almost dropped and Jarred chuckled.
"Gives a whole knew meaning to forever and ever huh?" Jarred asked Ben.
Ben just shook his head.
"It does indeed,but like wow. . ."
"Well Ben not to be rude, but I need to steal the birthday girl for the rest of the night!"
